NC Health Careers Access Program

North Carolina Health Careers Access Program (NC-HCAP) is designed to work toward increasing the number of individuals from educationally or economically disadvantaged backgrounds who are trained, educated and employed in the health profession.

CLINICAL HEALTH SUMMER PROGRAM
The Clinical Health Summer Program (CHSP) is an important component of NC-HCAP. CHSP is a seven-week experiential learning opportunity held each year from May through June. The 40-hour week salaried position consists of both clinical experiences in healthcare agencies and academic enrichment experiences provided by NC-HCAP Health Careers Centers, as many professional programs necessitate clinical patient contact hours. The program provides students at UNCP with an opportunity to learn about the duties and responsibilities of a health professional and how a healthcare delivery system operates.
