While he didn’t give any details about his immigration reform plan, he said he would work with Congress during his first year in power to pass permanent immigration reform legislation. “I actually will propose a piece of legislation which will reform our immigration system to improve legal immigration so people don’t have to hire lawyers to figure out how to get here legally,” he said. “The president promised in his first year, his highest priority, that he would reform immigration and he didn’t. And I will.” Romney didn’t say if he would allow the deferred action program to continue or if he would put an end to this process.
Agente de patrulla fronteriza mata a madre de cinco en California REDACCIÓN UNA VOZ SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Un agente de la patrulla fronteriza mató a una mujer de 32 años en el área suburbana de San Diego, aparentemente en defensa propia, pero la familia de la víctima no cree esta versión. De acuerdo a las autoridades, el incidente sucedió el 28 de septiembre aproximadamente a cinco millas de la frontera con México, cuando agentes de la patrulla fronteriza vestidos de civil estaban intentando servir una orden de arrestado a una persona. Aparentemente la mujer, identificada como Valeria Alvarado, embistió al agente con su vehículo y continuó sin detenerse. El agente se aferró al cofre del automóvil. Border Patrol agent kills mother of five in California UNA VOZ STAFF
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – A Border Patrol agent killed a 32-yearold woman in the suburbs of San Diego, apparently in self-defense, but her family does not believe this version. According to authorities, the incident took place Sept. 28, about five miles from the U.S.Mexico border, when Border Patrol agents in plainclothes were trying to serve an arrest warrant on someone. Apparently the woman, identified as ValeriaAlvarado, ran into an agent with her vehicle and continued without stopping. The agent then held on to the car’s hood. Chula Vista Police Capt. Gary Wedge told the Associated Press that the agent shot the woman several times after he was driven several yards on the hood. “Fearing for his life, he discharged his weapon to get the vehicle to stop,” Border Patrol Deputy Chief Rodney Scott said. Alvarado was a housewife and mother of five children ages 3 to 17 who went by the name Monique. She was a U.S. citizen who grew up in Chula Vista, but was living in
the Southcrest neighborhood of San Diego. Relatives said they did not know why she was visiting her former hometown. She was not wanted by law enforcement authorities. Her husband, meanwhile, is demanding answers. “Where’s the evidence my wife threatened a trained officer? I want justice,” Gilbert Alvarado said. There is confusion among eyewitnesses as well. Hector Salazar, who lives in the area, said he was a man in civilian clothes on the hood of a black car aiming his gun at the windshield. He said he heard about five shots, and then saw other plainclothes agents approaching the car. But Ayanna Evans, 19, and Prince Watson, who live in an apartment building near the site, said they never saw a man on the hood of the car. Alvarado was pronounced dead at the scene. The Border Patrol agent was taken to a local hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. According to Scott, the man the agents were looking for was not apprehended. The FBI and Chula Vista police are investigating the incident.

The FBI is investigating the case.
