Explota tren con químicos en Maryland REDACCIÓN UNAVOZ ROSEDALE, MARYLAND – Un tren que transportaba químicos chocó contra un camión de basura en un cruce ferroviario en Maryland, causando un incendio, sacudiendo casas y dañando edificios. El incidente sucedió la noche del 28 de mayo en un cruce privado, marcado solamente por una señal de alto. El tren, de 45 vagones, viajaba de Selkirk, Nueva York, a Waycross, Georgia. La compañía CSX Transportation, responsable del tren, dijo que un químico peligroso que se encontraba en uno de los vagones fue la fuente de la explosión. Un vocero de la compañía dijo que no sabían todavía qué había causado que la substancia clorato de sodio explotara, pero que la explosión había incendiado otro producto químico en otro vagón. Por su parte Robert Sumwalt, miembro de la Mea Directiva Nacional para la Seguridad en el Transporte (NTSB por sus siglas en inglés), dijo que los investigadores estaban examinando evidencia en la escena del choque y revisando video del tren que muestre el momento del choque con el
camión de basura. Sumwalt dijo que no estaba claro por qué el camión estaba cruzando las vías o si tenía autorización para estar ahí. El chofer del camión, John J. Alban Jr. de 50 años de edad, estaba en condición crítica en un hospital de Baltimore. Dos trabajadores a bordo del tren de la compañía CSX no resultaron heridos. Este choque está siendo investigado por el NTSB y la Administración Federal Ferroviaria. La vocera del Condado de Baltimore, Elise Armacost, dijo que todavía no se sabía si el chofer del camión de basura iba a enfrentar algún cargo por este choque. Gary Sease, vocero de CSX, dijo que el clorato de sodio que estaba en un vagón cerca del frente del tren explotó luego de que el tren se descarrilara, encendiendo ácido tereftálico que se encontraba en otro vagón descarrilado. El clorato de sodio es usado principalmente como un agente blanqueador en la producción de papel. El Departamento de Seguridad Pública del Condado de Baltimore dijo que expertos en sustancias peligrosas de la ciudad, el condado y CSX no creían que los químicos que se incendiaron pudieran producir inhalantes tóxicos, algo de preocupación cuando se descarrilan trenes que transportan materiales peligrosos. Train loaded with chemicals explodes in Maryland UNA VOZ STAFF ROSEDALE, MARYLAND – A train transporting chemicals crashed with a garbage truck on a rail crossing in Maryland, causing a fire, shaking homes and causing damages to buildings. The accident took place the night of May 28 at a private crossing, marked only with a stop sign. The 45-car train was en route from Selkirk, N.Y., to Waycross, GA. CSX Transportation, the owner of the train, said a dangerous chemical that was in one of the cars was the source of the explosion. A company spokesperson said they didn’t know what had caused the sodium chlorate to explode, but that the explosion had set fire to another chemical
product in another car. Meanwhile Robert Sumwalt, member of the National Transportation and Safety Board, said that investigators were looking at evidence from the scene and checking train video that shows the crash with the garbage truck. Sumwalt said it was not clear why the truck was crossing the tracks or if it had authorization to be there. The truck driver, John J. Alban Jr., 50, was in critical condition at a Baltimore hospital. Two CSX workers on the train were not injured. The crash is being investigated by the NTSB and the Federal Railroad Administration. Baltimore County spokeswoman, Elsie Armacost, said they don’t know yet whether the truck driver will face charges or not. Gary Sease, CSX spokesman, said the
sodium chlorate that was in a car near the front of the train explored after the train derailed, lighting up the terephthalic acid in another derailed car. Sodium chlorate is used mainly as a whitening agent in paper production. However, Nick Matereer, a chemist with the Oklahoma State University, said that if it is combined with another substance, for example fuel, it could become a very explosive mix. The day after the explosion workers were removing the damaged cars as well as parts of the train tracks. The garbage truck was still on site, on its side, with its contents littering the area. Next to the track the corrugated metal walls of a warehouse can be seen, bent and warped. Some buildings suffered considerable
damage, among them a training facility for the plumbers and pipefitters union, located a few yards from the explosion. At the time of the crash and the explosion only a few employees were at the site. They reported hearing the crash first, then the derailment and then they saw a plume of smoke. The Baltimore County Department of Public Safety said experts in hazardous substances from the city, county and CSX said they didn’t believe the chemicals that burned were able to produce toxic inhalants, something to worry about when trains transporting hazardous materials derail. The fire caused by the explosion was controlled shortly before midnight on May 28, but the firefighters remained on the scene to provide support.
México introduce unidad para buscar a personas desaparecidas REDACCIÓN UNA VOZ CD. DE MÉXICO – El gobierno de México ha presentado una unidad especial de investigación para buscar a personas desaparecidas. Esta unidad será parte de la Procuraduría General de la República (PGR), que incluirá 12 investigadores federales y un grupo de agentes de la policía federal para apoyo. Jesús Murillo Karam, el Procurador General de la República, dijo que investigadores y expertos forenses seguirán los casos hasta que sean resueltos. El subdirector de Derechos Humanos de la PGR, Ricardo García Cervantes dijo en un discurso que esta nueva entidad no
tiene recursos propios, no tendrá oficinas y solamente tendrá 12 agentes que serán entrenados conforme se necesite, de acuerdo con la revista Proceso. “No hacemos magia, pero vamos a llegar hasta donde se pueda llegar”, dijo Murillo Karam, hablando de los 12 agentes del Ministerio Público que estarán a cargo de ubicar a las personas desaparecidas. Mencionó que la PGR aceptará la vigilancia de organismos y dependencias para garantizar los derechos de los familiares de los desaparecidos. “Lo que queremos destrozar es ese laberinto burocrático. Vamos a llegar hasta donde se pueda llegar; vamos a agotar todas las opciones y hablar con absoluta verdad sobre las

Mexico introduces unit to search for missing persons UNA VOZ STAFF MEXICO CITY – The Mexican Government has introduced a special investigation unit to look for missing people. This unit will be part of the Federal Attorney General’s Office (PGR), which will include 12 federal investigators and a group of federal police agents for support. Jesus Murillo Karam, Federal Attorney General, said investigators and forensic experts will follow up on the cases until they are resolved. PGR Human Rights Vice Director, Ricardo Garcia Cervantes, said in a speech that the new entity does not have any resources of its
own, it won’t have any offices and will have only 12 agents that will be trained as the time goes, this according to Proceso magazine. “We don’t do magic, but we are going to get to where we can get,” Murillo Karam said, talking about the 12 Public Ministry agents that will be in charge of locating the missing persons. He said the PGR will accept the observation of officers from organizations and government entities to guarantee the rights of the relatives of those missing. “What we want to destroy is the bureaucratic labyrinth. We are going to get to where we can get; we are going to end all of our options and we are going to speak with the truth about the possibilities of the results,” Karam said.
He said the unit can get to work now, even though some things are still missing. “There are legal things missing that we will be putting in place little by little… Today what we want is to destroy that bureaucratic labyrinth,” he said. Karam said that with the creation of the Missing Persons Search Unit there will be more coordination between institutions and the bureaucracy that is oftentimes faced by relatives will be avoided. “The common denominator of their complaints almost always was the abandonment of the investigation; sometimes for reasons attributed to someone and sometimes for reasons attributed to a system that was not

coordinated,” Karam said. Meanwhile the Secretary of the Interior, Miguel Angel Osorio Chong, said that they are going to provide resources and instruments available to this effort. “We know how dissatisfied you are from a long time,” Chong told the families, many of which have been saying that authorities are not interested in solving their children’s disappearances. Osorio Chong said the official number of people missing is being revised and in a few months the new missing people number will be announced. He said many people who were originally considered as missing had simply left their home temporarily for personal reasons or wanted to migrate.

Programa de legalización de inmigrantes indocumentados son elegibles para ningún beneficio de ayuda pública federal. Este programa permitiría al secretario de Seguridad Nacional el recolectar una cuota de procesamiento de personas que se registran para obtener el estatus RPI. Una vez que una persona ha tenido el estatus RPI por 10 años puede convertirse en residente permanente. Para eso deben de haber mantenido una presencia física continua en los Estados Unidos, deben de haber pagado todos sus impuestos durante los últimos 10 años, deben de haber trabajado regularmente en los Estados Unidos y demostrar un conocimiento de civismo e inglés, esto es un requisito. También permitiría a personas que actualmente están en el programa de Acción Diferida para los Llegados en la Infancia (DACA) obtener sus tarjetas de residencia permanente en cinco años en vez de ocho. Usted no será elegible para el programa si fue encontrado culpable de una felonía agravada, encontrado culpable de una felonía, encontrado culpable de tres crímenes menores o más, votó de forma ilegal, o es determinado no admisible por razones criminales, de seguridad nacional, de salud pública u otras razones morales. La legislación se encuentra en sus primeras etapas de debate y será debatida en el Senado y posteriormente en la Cámara de Representantes. Por DAVID RICHMOND Ocho senadores estadounidenses han anunciado una reforma migratoria radical, que permitiría el cambio de la mayoría de las leyes de inmigración actuales. Las nuevas leyes propuestas incluirían mayor seguridad en la frontera, un nuevo programa de legalización de inmigración, verificación obligatoria de elegibilidad para trabajar y nuevas visas de trabajo. El nuevo plan de seguridad fronteriza requiere que el secretario de Seguridad Nacional proporcione vigilancia persistente en sectores de alto riesgo en la frontera sur, y un índice de efectividad de 90 por ciento de detenciones para todos los sectores de alto riesgo en la frontera sur. Legalization program for undocumented immigrants would allow individuals who are in the United States prior to Dec. 31, 2011 and maintained continuous presence since then, to pay a $500 penalty and this would allow them to adjust their status to registered provisional immigrant status (RPI). Immigrants would have a period of one year, with the possibility of an extension by the secretary of Homeland Security for an additional year, to apply for the program. It would allow immigrants to work in the United States with a valid social security number and travel outside the United States. Immigrants in the RPI status are not eligible for any federal means- tested public benefit. It would allow the secretary of Homeland Security to collect a processing fee from individuals who register for RPI status. Once an individual is in RPI status for 10 years, they may become a lawful permanent resident, they must have maintained
By DAVID RICHMOND Eight U.S. senators have announced sweeping immigration reform, which would overhaul most of our current immigration laws. The new proposed laws would include greater border security, a new immigration legalization program, employment verification that would be mandatory, and new employment work visas. The new border security plan would require the Department of Homeland Security secretary to provide persistent surveillance in high-risk sectors along the southern border, and an effective rate of 90 percent of apprehensions for all high-risk sectors along the southern border. It would include three billion dollars to implement the new border security plan. Under the new legalization program, it

Madre de Arizona detenida en México por supuesto tráfico de drogas REDACCIÓN UNA VOZ
MÉXICO – Una mujer de origen mexicano residente de Arizona, madre de siete hijos, se encuentra en la cárcel en México luego de que fuera acusada de contrabando de drogas cuando intentaba regresar a su hogar. Yanira Maldonado enfrenta cargos de tráfico de drogas luego de que autoridades mexicanas dijeran haber encontrado 12 libras de marihuana debajo de su asiento en un autobús. Yanira, su esposo y otros familiares regresaban a los Estados Unidos después de asistir al funeral de un familiar cuando fue detenida. Su familia ha negado categóricamente las acusaciones y han dicho que las autoridades la arrestaron para pedir una mordida. CNN informó que un oficial estatal mexicano dijo que parece que Yanira Maldonado había sido engañada. “Ella es una mujer honesta. Ella es inocente. No es un lugar para alguien como ella”, dijo su hija Anna
Soto en una entrevista por televisión luego de ver a su madre en la cárcel el fin de semana. Soto dijo que ella sabe que su madre no tiene nada qué ver con las drogas. “Usted sabe, ella es una de esas personas que trata de alejarse de ese tipo de personas, de ese tipo de cosas”. Maldonado fue arrestada el 22 de mayo mientras ella y su esposo Gary, un ciudadano estadounidense, regresaban a su casa en Arizona. Durante la revisión del autobús en el estado de Sonora, las autoridades pidieron a todos los pasajeros que bajaran. La oficina regional de la Secretaría
de la Defensa Nacional dijo que las tropas, que realizaban una investigación de rutina detuvieron el autobús y encontraron 5.7 kilos de lo que parecía marihuana bajo el asiento de Yanira. En un principio las autoridades le dijeron a Gary Maldonado que la marihuana la habían encontrado debajo de su asiento y lo arrestaron. Luego de que el padre de Gary, Larry Maldonado, contactara al consulado estadounidense en Hermosillo, las autoridades dijeron que habían cometido un error y lo dejaron libre, pero acusaron a su esposa de narcotráfico. Gary cree que los oficiales en el punto de revisión querían una mordida. La familia mencionó que un abogado les había dicho que podían sobornar al juez, así que Gary Maldonado pidió a familiares que le enviaran 5 mil dólares, pero cuando el dinero se le ofreció al juez, no fue aceptado. CNN reportó que después de hablar con un oficial del estado de
Sonora, éste les dijo que había dudas sobre el arresto. “Un pasajero por sí solo no hubiera podido cargar casi seis kilos de marihuana al autobús sin que se dieran cuenta. Ella debió de haber sido engañada”, dijo el oficial de gobierno quien no quiso ser identificado. Por lo pronto Yanira está en una prisión de mujeres en Nogales, México, mientras se decide su suerte. Por su parte el senador de Arizona Jeff Flake está al tanto del caso. Una larga audiencia se realizó el 28 de mayo para determinar el futuro de la detenida, pero hasta el cierre de esta edición no se había tomado una decisión. El 29 de mayo estaban supuestos a testificar algunos militares que estaban de guardia el día de la revisión del autobús. Por su parte, la Embajada Mexicana en Washington dijo en un comunicado que se esperaba que el juez diera una decisión preliminar sobre el caso en poco tiempo.
Aún con esta atención al caso, la familia sigue atemorizada de que algo suceda. De acuerdo a familiares que la han visitado en la cárcel, Yanira se pregunta por qué están sucediendo las cosas. “Ella estaba diciendo ‘no sé cómo me pasó esto a mí. Nunca he hecho nada ilegal en mi vida. ¿Por qué ha pasado esto?”, dijo su cuñado Brandon Klippel del estado en que se encuentra Yanira. Él es el abogado que está defendiendo a Yanira en los procesos en corte. Mientras todo esto sucede, la familia se ha volcado en su religión para sacar fuerzas. Los Maldonado son miembros de la iglesia mormona local en Goodyear Arizona, y los líderes religiosos han estado ofreciendo apoyo espiritual y material a la familia. Si el juez federal considera que Maldonado debe ser sometida a juicio, ella pudiera estar en la cárcel por varios meses mientras la policía investiga el caso.

Her family has categorically denied the accusations and has said authorities arrested her to get a bribe. CNN said a Mexican state official said it seemed like Yanira had been framed. “She’s an honest woman. She’s innocent. It’s not a place for someone of her kind,” her daughter Anna

Soto said during a TV interview after visiting her mother in jail over the weekend. Soto said she knows her mother doesn’t have anything to do with drugs. “You know, she’s one of those people that try to say away from those kinds of people or those kinds of things.” Maldonado was arrested May 22 while she and her husband, Gary Maldonado, were returning home to Arizona. During a revision of the bus in the northern state of Sonora, authorities asked all the passengers to leave the unit. The regional office of the Mexican Defense Ministry said the troops, which were conducting a routine revision of a passenger bus, found about 12 pounds of what seemed to be marijuana under Yanira’s seat. At first authorities told Gary Maldonado that the drugs had been found under his seat and he was arrested. Then when his father, Larry Maldonado, contacted the U.S. Consulate in Hermosillo Gary was told by Mexican authorities that everything had been a mix-up and he was free to go, but his wife was charged with drug trafficking. Gary believes the officers at the checkpoint wanted a bribe. The family said an attorney told them that they could pay off the judge, and Gary asked relatives to wire him $5,000, but when the money was offered, it was not accepted. CNN said that when they spoke with a Mexican official, he had said there were doubts about the arrest. “A passenger by himself or herself would have been unable to carry almost six kilos of marijuana onto a bus without being noticed.

Jeff Flake has been kept informed of the case. A long hearing took place May 28, after which a decision was supposed to be made, but as of press time that decision had not been made. On May 29 the officers who were at the checkpoint were scheduled to testify in the case. Meanwhile, the Mexican Embassy in Washington issued a statement saying that the judge’s preliminary decision on the case was scheduled to be delivered soon. Even with all the attention the case has attracted, the family is afraid something may happen. According to relative who have visited Yanira in jail, she asks why this has happened. “She was just saying ‘I don’t know how this happened to me. I’ve never done anything illegal in my life. Why has this happened?”, her brother-in-law, Brandon Klippel, said. He is the attorney who is representing her during the legal process in Mexico. While all this is happening, the family has turned to their religion for strength. The Maldonados are members of the local Mormon church in Goodyear, Arizona. Religious leaders have offered spiritual and material support to the family. If the federal judge considering Maldonado’s case determines she must stand trial, she could spend several months in jail while authorities investigate the case.

Además escribieron 34 multas adicionales a automovilistas que no traían a sus hijos debidamente sujetados como marca la ley de Illinois. El operativo se realizó el 20 de mayo en Haffenrichter Road y Farnsworth Avenue, en Farnsworth y Grand Boulevard el 21 de mayo y en Highland y New Heaven el 22 de mayo. Estas revisiones se realizaron en conjunto con la

They wrote 34 additional tickets to motorists who did not have children properly restrained as required by Illinois law. The operations, which were conducted at Haffenrichter Road and Farnsworth Avenue May 20, Farnsworth and Grand Boulevard May 21, and Highland and New Haven Avenues
May 22, were conducted in conjunction with the statewide “Click-It-Or-Ticket” campaign. Illinois law requires that all drivers and passengers in motor vehicles wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt. Failure to comply will result in a $25 fine. Anyone transporting a child under eight years old and weighing less than 40 pounds must properly secure the child in an appropriate child restraint system. Violators face a $75 fine for the first offense and $200 for the second offense. At the targeted locations, an officer, standing on the street, was looking for any
drivers or passengers of motor vehicles that were not properly restrained. Once they spotted violators, they directed that motorist to an adjacent parking lot where other officers initiated the citation process. According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, the number one leading cause of death and disability for Americans age 4-34 is motor vehicle crashes and that 1 in 5 Americans fail to regularly wear a seatbelt. charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm charged stemming from a shooting of a 16-year-old boy last April. Two other people have been charged in this incident, according to authorities. It is unknown if the teen will face charges as an adult.

The man, identified as Melvin C. Ramsey of the 100 block of Mosely Street in Elgin, was arrested by authorities and has a $103,000 bond. According to a police report, Ramsey was wanted for eluding Elgin Police in two police chases in May, also he has warrants against him in Kane County and in Barrington. In the most recent incident Elgin Police received a call at about 1:30 p.m. May 25, because Ramsey was at a home he was prevented from visiting because of a restriction order. Ramsey fled the scene and police lost track of him, however, about half an hour
later he was seen running on State Street and trying to hide behind a home. The man then jumped from the roof into the roof of a Ford Taurus automobile, causing over $300 in damages. He was arrested by police in the 100 block of National Street, near Hendee Street. Because of the damage caused to the Ford Taurus, Ramsey was charged with felony damage to property and resisting arrest. He is also wanted on two felony counts for fleeing and eluding Elgin Police at speeds over 21 miles above the set limit, after an incident registered on May 11. Police tried to arrest Ramsey after another incident in May, in which he disobeyed traffic signals and escaped. If found guilty in all three Elgin cases and if he serves his sentences consecutively, he faces up to 12 years in prison. However, he also has the option of probation on each one of these charges.

Police investigates drug shipments to Kane County UNA VOZ STAFF
KANE COUNTY – At least six times this year shipment inspectors have seized packages sent to addresses in Aurora, St. Charles and Geneva that contained marijuana and they contacted Kane County. Authorities have said that this way of shipping drugs is nothing new, but does not attract as much attention as the seizure of a large truck full of drugs. Authorities say there are many different ways to transfer drugs and illegal narcotics from distributors to sellers to buyers. “There’s so many ways for the drugs to get here,” Kane County Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Gengler said. “The stuff is coming from somewhere.” In a report submitted by a drugs investigator from the sheriff’s office to obtain a search warrant, the investigator stated that “The state of California is a source state for narcotics.” IN this case, all six packages intercepted in Kane County were shipped from California. According to court documents, three suspicious boxes were detected by a drugsniffing dog last January at U.S. Postal Services facilities, and another three were detected by FedEx in their Aurora facilities in April. The boxes were sent to four addresses in Aurora: North Fourth Street, South Evanslawn, Stonewood Place and Columbia Street; one in Harrison Street in Geneva and Jens Jensen in St. Charles. Court documents show inspectors and police have said that large packages shipped overnight and paid for in cash are a strong indication that they are shipping narcotics. According to court documents related to the packages seized in Kane County, the packages sent using the United States Postal Service contained marijuana packaged in heatresistant plastic, then individually wrapped in aluminum foil and the packages were padded with envelopes. Meanwhile, the marijuana shipped via FedEx had been packaged in clear
plastic bags padded with spray foam. Each package had the recipient’s name inside, but the name did not match any of the residents of the address where the package was shipped. Gengler says this is a tactic to evade detection. Once the packages were detected, North Central Narcotics Special Task Force officers and Kane County Sheriff’s officers got a judge to sign warrants to search the homes once the packages were delivered. Of the six packages sent, four were accepted and a home search was conducted. ON Columbia Street in aurora authorities seized four pounds of marijuana from the package sent to that address. At Stonewood Place authorities seized four pounds of marijuana and smoking pipes. From the home in St. Charles authorities seized 10 pounds f marijuana and packaging materials. From the home at Evanslawn authorities seized about 1.5 pounds of marijuana and several items. Gengler did not give any information about the inspections conducted by the sheriff’s office because it is an ongoing investigation, but said the goal is to find the source of those drugs. According to court documents, the search warrant on Stonewood Place led to an arrest. Melissa Spraitz, 43, or the 1000 block of Stonewood, was charged in January with possession of between 500 and 2,000 grams of marijuana and of manufacturing or delivering between 500 and 2,000 grams of marijuana. Spraitz, a mother of four, is scheduled to be back in court in June. Gengler said that even though this is not a very well known practice by the general public, residents should not be afraid of getting random drug shipments at their house, because in general when someone receives a package is because they are expecting it.

Man charged with driving under the influence and causing injuries to his son UNA VOZ STAFF ROCK COUNTY – A father who was driving with his 13-year-old son in the car was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, among other charges, after his vehicle flipped for speeding down a highway. The Rock County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Center Township at about 3:40 a.m. May 27. When officers arrived at H County Road north of State
Highway 11, found a 2009 Pontiac G8 on a farm field. Both the driver and the passenger were standing by the side of the road. The driver was identified as Johnny Webb, 37, of Orangeville, Illinois. The minor was identified as his 13-year-old son. Investigators determined that Webb was driving at about 70 miles per hour when his vehicle became airborne at a hill and flipped three times. Webb told authorities he was on his way to the Rock
County Sheriff’s office to pick up his oldest son, who had been released from prison. He also apparently admitted to drinking before the accident. Webb was charged with operating while under the influence injury with passenger under the age of 16 (felony,) OWI 2nd with passenger under the age of 16 (felony,) and speed – driving too fast for conditions. Father and son were taken to a local hospital to receive treatment.

REDACCIÓN UNA VOZ LOS ÁNGELES – Lupillo Rivera logró por fin llevar a cabo el homenaje a su hermana Jenni Rivera, que tanto había deseado hacer, y su alegría fue mayor porque logró reunir a su familia, aunque siempre hay incidentes que ensombrecen estos momentos de felicidad. Lupillo realizó este homenaje en el Nokia Center de Los Ángeles, donde Jenni realizó varias presentaciones que tuvieron un gran éxito. En el homenaje agradeció al público por su apoyo. También presente estuvo Doña Rosa Saavedra, madre de los cantantes, quien en los últimos tiempos había estado alejada de Lupillo. “Muy feliz pa’ que vean que aquí estoy apoyándolo, dijeron que no pero sí; hay algunos de la familia que no están listos para esto” dijo Doña Rosa de su asistencia al homenaje. “Como por ejemplo, los hijos de Jenni no están listos para eso, entonces tenemos que ser fuertes, yo pienso, para poder ver a mi hija otra vez en el escenario”.
A pesar de estas palabras uno de los hijos de ‘La Diva de la Banda’ sí estuvo presente, Trinidad Ángelo Marín, conocido públicamente como Michael Marín. También llegaron, aunque un poco tarde, Juan Rivera y Gustavo Rivera, quien está envuelto en un conflicto con Lupillo desde hace tiempo. La llegada de Gustavo atrajo la atención de muchos y por un momento distrajo de lo que sucedía en el escenario. “Fue un momento muy especial cuando entré… le estorbé un poco pero le ofrezco una gran disculpa pero no fue intención mía”, dijo Gustavo refiriéndose a su llegada al evento. El momento tenso de la noche sucedió cuando subió al escenario Juan Carlos, medio hermano de los Rivera, quien es hijo de Don Pedro Rivera y su actual pareja. LOS ANGELES – Lupillo Rivera finally was able to host a tribute to his sister Jenni Rivera, something he wanted to do, and the situation couldn’t be better, as his family reunited at the event, but there are always incidents that bring a sour note. Lupillo held this tribute at the Nokia Center in Los Angeles, where Jenni performed several times with great success. During the tribute Lupillo thanked the public for their support. Lupillo and Jenni’s mother, doña Rosa Saavedra, attended the tribute. She had been estranged from Lupillo in recent times. “I’m very happy, as you see I’m here supporting him, they say no, but yes; some in the family are not ready for this,” doña Rosa said of her attendance to the event. “For example, Jenni’s children are not ready for this, and we have to be strong, I think, to see my daughter again on stage.” However, one of Jenni’s children, Trinidad Angelo Marin,
known publicly as Michael Marin, attended the tribute. Also present, even when they arrived late, were Juan Rivera and Gustavo Rivera, who has been involved in a fight with Lupillo for quite some time. When Gustavo arrived he attracted many people’s attention and distracted from what was happening on stage. “It was a very special moment when I entered … I bothered a little and I offer my apology; that was not my intention,” Gustavo said of his arrival at the event. The sour moment happened when Juan Carlos, half brother of the Riveras, appeared on stage to sing. He is the son of don Pedro Rivera and his current significant other. When this happened, doña Rosa left the premises. She later sent a message to her former husband on Twitter: “Mister Rivera: my children are the original and the best made. If not, with time you will see it. Bless be God that will make you know this.” Jenni Rivera died in a plane crash in Mexico on Dec. 9.
