DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD | BRIAN CORBIN

Brian Corbin is the Director of the Department of Online, Transfer, & Returning Student Services. Along with Brian, the entire team assists and supports the UCA campus and students. They are committed to the success of all students.

2022 YOUNG ALUMNI | ETHAN BALDRIDGE

Ethan Baldridge completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition in 2016 and his Master of Science in Nutrition in 2017. Ethan also completed his Dietetic Internship at UCA to earn his Registered Dietitian credential in 2017. Currently, Ethan serves as the District Dietitian for Aramark. In his nomination, the nominator was excited to let us know that Mr. Baldridge graciously takes intern after intern, is innovative in his programming and communications about nutrition and health to campus, and is a strong mentor for students seeking the RDN credential. Ethan shared with us that his degree has provided him with the building blocks needed to help people and fulfill his role as a dietitian. He says that UCA feels like home to him and he enjoys walking around campus and through the NFS Department and feeling like he belongs. We are excited to present Ethan Baldridge with a 2022 Young Alumni Award.

Anna Hall is currently serving as the Clinical Director of Coordinated Care for ARcare. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition in 2014 and her combined Master of Science and Dietetic Internship in 2016. Anna’s nominator shared, she has excelled in a role traditionally not filled by a registered dietitian. She oversees dietitians, nurses, and other health care team members while ensuring billing and compliance are up to standard. She donates her time to work with students in the School of Nursing as well as NFS and role models what it means to truly provide interprofessional care. If Anna could share advice with others, she would tell them to “ say yes to as many opportunities as you can. Outside your comfort zone is where you will grow. Many opportunities I took as a student and early in my career helped pave the path for where I am today and have continued to open doors. Always keep an open mind, you truly never know where your education and training will take you ” . Congratulations to Anna Hall, 2022 Young Alumni.

2022 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNA | LESLEE TELL

Leslee Tell earned the Bachelor of Science in Education in Family & Consumer Sciences in 2004 In 2010, she completed the Master of Science in Family & Consumer Sciences from UCA Currently, Leslee is the Department Chair of FCS at Conway High School and has been a teacher in the district for the past 18 years Leslee recently received the Arkansas Ag in the classroom, outstanding teacher of the year Her nominator shared that she continues to display great dedication to her practice and exhibits great passion and desire to lead students in her classroom She has been involved in creating new programs of study, writing grant applications, and laying the foundation for community support Leslee shared that her degree has allowed her to change and grow at the same time as FCS Education has changed over the years.

2022 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNA | EDIE BOMAR

Edie Bomar earned the Bachelor of Sciences in Education in Family & Consumer Sciences in 1996. She earned her Master of Science in FCS in August 2000. Mrs. Bomar is from Beebe but currently lives in Vilonia where she teaches Family & Consumer Sciences at Vilonia High School. She shared that she was inspired by her 4 H leaders and Home Ec teacher to become a teacher herself. Through this FCS Education degree, she feels like she has been able to prepare her students for the real world with the content she teaches. Edie’s nominator shared that she serves as a mentor to our future educators, is a hard worker, makes learning fun, and gives back to the profession. Her students adore her and come home talking about the crucial skills such as communication, leadership, and nutrition that Mrs. Bomar teaches them. Congratulations to Edie Bomar, Distinguished Alumna, 2022!

2022 OUTSTANDING STUDENT | ABBY BENHAM

The 2022 Outstanding Student is Abby Benham. Abby is on track to graduate with her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics. After graduation, Abby will complete the dietetic internship and master’s degree with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her future goals include becoming a registered dietitian for the state of Arkansas to help heal and serve others. Abby is involved in several organizations, including the National Society of Leadership & Success, she is the Vice President of the Core Council for Alpha Chi, as well as involved in the Student Dietetic Association as the media chair and holds a leadership position in Phi Upsilon Omicron, the honor society in Nutrition & Family Sciences Wow, our students truly are amazing Congratulations Abby!

MOVING TOWARDS ENDOWMENT

There are several privately funded scholarships that our scholarship committee hopes to endow soon. Once scholarships are endowed, they are then eligible to be awarded to our students. We would love to award more and more students each year and you can help us reach this goal!
