Title of Work: Plushy Adventures

My concept is using plush toys as a way of portraying a story in Still Life as they are inanimate toys that can be found in most households. This idea excited me as I have a passion for collecting these plush toys and it meant that I got to show them off and have them tell their own story in a way.

I used zooming and manual focus to achieve some of the shots to play with the depth of field and give the photos perspective and the subject matter were plush toys and a Tin in the shape of a Pokeball. In the editing for the photos, I altered the tint, sharpness and saturation along with bringing forward several colours to make them stand out.

The photos I have taken are like some of those in my proposal such as Jenny Van Sommers, as she uses household items to create the art of her works and her use of bright colours is also what I have utilised here. As for Shihya Kowatari the main thing I used was the bright colours but in terms of the use of plants in their photos I haven’t exactly done that but instead went the way of wildlife photography.

There were some issues that I encountered in the quest of taking these photos, in some of them the background was a strange texture for the camera to pick up on and so no combination ISO and shutter speed was working to prevent the noise in the image and so I was forced to change the location. The other problem I had was the weather as most of my photos were taken outside it made it difficult when the weather was working against me and so the second, we got any kind of dry point, and I was home and able to take the photos I had to seize the opportunity.
