Bob Radunz, PGA General Manager/COO
I hope the May edition of The TwinEagles Insider finds you well enjoying life with family and friends! I trust those who will remain in The TwinEagles Community this summer are able to enjoy all the benefits of the 2025 Summer Reciprocal Program and those who will be traveling find their destinations safely. Our TEAM continues to work diligently to provide a balance of summer golf, social, dining and sports activities to keep our year-round Members active all summer long.
This is also the time of year when our Senior Leadership TEAM assesses operational opportunities for improvement and develops the Club’s business plan for the 2025/2026 Season. Generally speaking, the Club enjoyed a very good 2024/2025 Season, but there are certainly areas in which we can continue to improve...and we will.
Additionally, our Senior Leadership TEAM is currently planning the 2025/2026 Calendar of Member Events & Activities for the upcoming season, and we expect to have a final draft completed by the end of May, so we may communicate the final approved Member calendar via a SAVE THE DATES email no later than mid-July.
The Strategic Planning Committee has just completed its series of 8 Member Focus Group Meetings and has consolidated all the Member feedback. The Club continues to make a tremendous amount of progress with its strategic initiatives, and we look forward to our next Membership Town Hall Meeting in June to share our progress.
I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to lead The TwinEagles Club forward. We have a dynamic TEAM with a high ‘care factor’ and hospitality hearts and a wonderful Membership who desires for the Club to reach its full potential. Together … we will get there … sooner than later!
As you may know, Amber Heath, Executive Assistant, will be relocating to Kentucky and Mani DeAngelo, Director of Finance, will be transitioning to a new role at the Port Royal Club in Naples during the month of May. Both have made significant contributions to TwinEagles over the past several years, and we wish them the very best as they both begin new chapters in their lives!
I look forward to the continued dialogue with the Membership as we plan forward and continue improving The TwinEagles Member experience. There remains a great deal of heavy lifting ahead of us, but I trust the Membership is observing positive changes in Club operations. We continue to be excited about the ongoing transformation of The TwinEagles Club!
Please don’t hesitate to contact me in person at the Club, via email BRadunz@thetwineaglesclub.com, or by telephone (239) 354-1705 if you have any questions regarding your Membership or Club operations in general.
We appreciate your continued support of the Club and our TEAM!
Warm regards,
Dear Members,
As we wind down from another successful season, I want to take a moment to thank you all for the energy, enthusiasm, and spirit that make The TwinEagles Club such a special place.
First and foremost, I’d like to thank the outgoing Board Members for their dedication and leadership. Their hard work over the past year has positioned us well for continued progress. Behind the scenes, our TEAM and committees worked tirelessly to deliver an exceptional Member experience throughout the season. I know I speak for the entire Membership when we say we appreciate their devotion to our cause.
J.J. Sorrenti President
I’d also like to recognize and sincerely thank Beth Donovan for her exceptional leadership as Board Chair over the past two years. Her steady guidance, thoughtful decision-making, and deep commitment to the Club have left a lasting impact, and we’re all grateful for the time and care she devoted to this role. Thank you, Beth!
It’s an honor to be writing to you in my new role as President of the Board. My wife and I are incredibly proud to be part of the TwinEagles community and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve. We’ve just wrapped up an amazing season filled with memorable moments highlighted most recently by outstanding events including the Men’s Invitational, the Women’s Invitational, our ever-competitive Bocce Championship, and countless casual rounds, dinners, and gatherings that reminded all of us what The TwinEagles Club is about: connection, camaraderie, and fun.
As we head into the quieter summer months, the Board will continue working on several priorities:
Enhancing the Member experience through thoughtful programming, communication, and service.
Listening to Member feedback—your insights help shape the future of our Club.
Maintaining and improving our facilities and courses with an eye toward both immediate needs and long-term sustainability. Ensuring financial health through responsible stewardship and transparent decision-making. Our FY26 planning is already underway. Supporting our TEAM as they shift into offseason operations and planning for next year.
Summer brings a shift in pace at the Club, and whether you ' re enjoying the season here or spending time away, we hope you'll stay connected in ways that matter to you. For those remaining local, it's a wonderful time to experience the Club in a more relaxed setting, with plenty of amenities and activities still available. And for those traveling, we look forward to welcoming you back later this year— rested, recharged, and ready for another great season. If you see me or any of the Board Members around, please don’t hesitate to say hello we’re always glad to hear your thoughts and ideas.
Here’s to a strong finish to the season and an even brighter year ahead. Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me and in the Board.
Let’s make this a great year together
Sincerely,
J.J. Sorrenti

As we begin preparing for the summer growing season, you’ll start to see increased aeration activity during the golf course closures While it may not be the most glamorous maintenance practice, aeration is one of the most important things we do each year to keep the turf healthy and the playing surfaces performing at their best.
Here in Southwest Florida, our soils face unique challenges The combination of heavy rainfall, frequent cart traffic, and naturally compacted native soils can make it very difficult for oxygen, water, and nutrients to move freely through the root zone. When the soil becomes too dense, turf health declines, roots shorten, and the surfaces become softer and more prone to stress
Aeration is how we fight back By mechanically opening up the surface, we relieve compaction, improve drainage, and create channels for roots to grow deeper and stronger. Over time, this leads to firmer, healthier turf that better withstands weather extremes, disease pressure, and everyday play.
This summer, we’ll be introducing a new piece of equipment on the Eagle Course known as “BIG DADDY.” It’s a large, heavy slicing machine designed to penetrate deep into the soil, deeper than traditional aerators, cutting through hardpan and even breaking up some of the underlying rock layers that exist in certain areas of the property.
BIG DADDY won’t be a quick fix or a one-time solution. This machine is part of a long-term strategy to improve soil structure and drainage on our fairways We expect to see some early benefits this year in areas where soil compaction has been especially problematic, but the real improvements will come with consistent use over several summers.
Aeration may not be the most visible part of our maintenance program, but it’s one of the most impactful. With the help of new equipment and a dedicated plan, we’re working hard to ensure your golf courses continues to improve each season

The Butterfly Garden Project has been a great success After 5 work sessions we now have the opportunity to look back and see what we have created
Talon 4 update: The first garden to be redone, Talon 4 attracted Monarch butterflies immediately There were so many caterpillars that they consumed every bit of milkweed leaves before they reached the pupa or chrysalis stage. Given that milkweed is the only plant monarch caterpillars will eat, they left the garden, fate unknown. Lesson learned… we need more milkweed. 24 plants went into the ground the following day. The stripped milkweed plants are growing back Start watching for chrysalides on the building header above the milkweed
Eagle 6 washroom update: Eagle 6 was planted on March 25 130 milkweed, lesson learned, and 50 nectar plants were put into the ground by 9 Member volunteers in 70 minutes. 2 cassia trees were planted to attract 3 types of bright yellow sulfur butterflies. There are already many monarch caterpillars thriving. They have plenty of food to complete their evolution.
Eagle 6 green update: This is the first garden, planted 5 years ago as a Monarchs in the Rough project. It has over 200 native milkweed plants that self-seed every year. We are giving the wildflowers a rest, so we planted 60 new gold lantana in the front of the garden to provide nectar for the butterflies Overall, we have 5 host plants that attract 8 butterfly types Our dutchman’s pipe vine currently has a brood of polydamas swallowtail caterpillars feeding on its leaves
Eagle 11 update: Eagle 11 was a major challenge. It is our largest butterfly garden by far. Fortunately, our volunteer numbers grew so we continue to accomplish more each week. Still, it took 2 sessions to prepare for planting this garden and the result was very impressive The new design features new gold lantana, a bright yellow flowering plant that is a clear favorite nectar source of all butterflies They border the garden directly behind 11 Eagle’s green and on the left side of the cart path as you approach the washroom from the course We have plenty of milkweed and will experiment with a corky passion vine
Eagle 16 update: Coming soon!
Huge shout out to the amazing volunteers who have given their time to make TwinEagles a beautiful place to live!
The polydamas swallowtail is common to Southwest Florida. We see them between April and November. Like many swallowtails they are mostly black with yellow streaks. We are fortunate to have a brood of their caterpillars on our Dutchman’s Pipevine located in the garden on Eagle 6 Green. The females lay their eggs on the tips of the vine, in groups, very close together. When the caterpillars emerge, they stick together, literally sideby sidewhilechewingaway. As ithey mature, they relax their grouping and turn from adeepredtomahoganywithgoldantennae.
The Gulf Fritillary is bright orange with black dots on top and has an interesting silvery clearcoat underneath. While it has several host plants to choose from, we use the corky stem passion vine to attract them. You can see this plant on its trellis as you exit the washroom area on Eagle 11. This butterfly makes rapid and erratic moves as it looks for the perfect spot to lay its eggs. The caterpillars are red, black and smallish. When ready, they will climb up the stone pillars, attachtoahorizontalsurfaceandslowlyform their body into a J shape. The next morning youwillseeachrysalis.
We’re excited to welcome these beautiful butterflies to TwinEagles! Our Butterfly Gardens bring color, life, and important pollinators to the community enhancing both the environment and the unique natural charm thatmakesTwinEaglessospecial.
