Two Lamu police officers on patrol in Mararani were beaten and tied up by residents who accused them of harassment. Lamu county commissioner Irungu Macharia said investigations are underway and arrests have been made. Macharia said the unarmed plainclothes police were on patrol and stopped a man carrying a suspicious bag. "He refused [to surrender it] and started screaming. Locals are said to have overpowered the officers, beaten them and tied them up. One officer lost Sh7,000. The man clamed the officers took his phone," Macharia said. Residents on the other hand, said two officers visited a drinking den in the village and then harassed residents. They said the officers demanded that everyone identify themselves and produce their IDs, which offended villagers. Those who refused were beaten up, the officers also attacked a youth, stole his phone and beat him up, the villagers said.

John Kakas Sungura alias Elias Nolel Kaskas will be detained at Buruburu Police Station after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) sought orders to hold him for 14 days to assist with the investigations. Kaskas had sold herbal medicine to four people on November 27 and one of them, Harrison Maina Kamau, was pronounced dead on arrival at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Umoja, Nairobi after consuming the concoction. The other three people who consumed the herbs were hospitalized.

KIDNAPING The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is looking for three men who hoodwinked an American national to travel to Nairobi from South Africa, kidnapped him at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport before assaulting and robbing him at their rented room in Pipeline Estate in Embakasi. Philipe Chiliade, who lives in South Africa, had traveled to Kenya on invitation of his Facebook friends who picked him at the JKIA using a taxi on November 28, but is now nursing injuries after he was assaulted and robbed. The suspects later called a relative Fredrick Muendo Mutua to cook for Chiliade and escort him back to JKIA after they escaped with an unknown amount of cash in US Dollars, two mobile phones and a Visa card. Chiliade raised the alarm while Mutua was escorting him back to the airport and Mutua was arrested by members of public. The other three suspects escaped.

Kidnapping 

Two suspected thugs were last night about 10pm shot dead at Kariobangi roundabout. The suspects were in a gang of four mugging passengers and pedestrians in the rains when alarm was raised. Police in patrol killed two as others escaped into korogocho. GARISSA, Kenyan police say they foiled alShabaab's aim to disrupt communication services and later carry out an attack in the northeast region of Garissa. Mohamed Birik, northeastern regional commissioner said the militants suspected to have crossed from Somalia only managed to destroy a diesel generator that powers telecommunication mast after they struck at around 1 a.m in Diiso village. Birik said that the militants' mission was to completely destroy the mast but a quick response by the security officers repulsed them. Birik said that a team of security officers were already in the area to assess the situation noting that an operation involving a contingent of security

A German national who has been living in Kenya for the last seven years went missing from his Lunga Lunga home in Kwale County on November 26, 2019. A statement by his wife, Neema Nyawira, 25, contradicts phone signal records, which show that Topf, 54-year-old retired soldier, did not leave Kenya as claimed by Nyawira in her police report. Topf’s mobile phone signal was last tracked to Mwabao Village in Shimoni area, which is located in Southeastern Kenya near the border with Tanzania. The sleuths say all records indicate that Topf did not leave Shimoni as alleged by Nyawira. Nyawira told police that Topf was deported to his native country and that her relatives had recently called her to confirm that he had arrived safely. Nyawira, in her statement to police, said Topf was, on November 26, picked from their Lunga Lunga home by four men and a woman, who had introduced themselves as officials from the Immigration Department. Nyawira claimed that she later learnt that her partner had been deported to Germany and that he arrived in his alleged destination eight days ago.



Two male adults posing as customers withdrew two guns and forced a shopkeeper to lie down, one guarded him as the other headed to cash box where he stole an unknown amount of money. Residents noticed something was amiss and started screaming. The robbers escaped on a motorcycle of unknown registration number towards nyahururu general. The highway CMM police officers with the help of boda boda riders from Karai gave chase and caught up with the robbers at waka primary school area where the motorcycle lost control after being kicked by one of the pursuer the thugs shot one rider on the back and the bullet exited below the right breast. he was rushed to nyahururu sub county hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition. one suspect was arrested namely stephen muchiri ndungu aged 30 years with hand and head injuries consistent with an accident and recovered 10 rounds of 9mm, two spent cartridges, one bullet head, ceska magazine cover and it's spring, motorcycle ignition key, helmet and two mobile phones.

A 32-year-old man who has been missing for 10 days after he was swept away by the flooding Tana River has been found dead in Ngando village, Kirinyaga County. Casual workers harvesting bananas for sale in one of the farms spotted the body floating in the river and raised the alarm, attracting scores of residents. According to the man’s relatives, Mr Maina was crossing the river in Rwairegi village in Mukurwe-ini when he was hit by strong water currents and swept downstream. Efforts to save him from drowning were unsuccessful. Following the incident relatives combed the river banks in search of their kin for days but gave up when they failed to trace him. One person has died while 29 others have suffered serious injuries following a road crash involving two matatus on the Embu-Kirinyaga road. The matatus collided head-on at Rupingazi River bridge on Thursday morning, eye witnesses and the authorities said. The victim died on the spot while the survivors, who included children, suffered head, leg and hand fractures and were taken to Embu Referral Hospital. Three of the survivors were in a coma and were taken to the hospital's intensive care unit. The drivers of both vehicles were among the injured.

A police officer has shot and killed a man who had snatched his firearm in Bondeni, Mombasa and attempted to escape with it. The unidentified man is reported to have snatched the gun from the officer who was guarding a bank along Digo Road in Bondeni. The man was killed by the police officer after a crowd caught him.
