



It is my pleasure to present the Office of the Registrar 2021-2022 Annual Report and share with you some of our recent accomplishments Our team strives to provide excellent service to our faculty, staff, and students both past and present. We are committed to developing innovative technical solutions to meet the needs of our campus community
The Registrar's Office strives to be transparent in our processes and create more efficient ways to use, understand, and work with student data. We continue to embrace our campus community and improve our processes from the beginning of a student's journey through their graduation and beyond.

The Office of the Registrar strives to:
Provide consistent high-quality service, collaboration, and leadership in facilitating the needs of students, faculty, and staff.
Promote a friendly and encouraging office environment that supports personal and professional growth. Employ efficiency and innovation in the use of resources and solutions to benefit our campus and the higher education community
Teamwork: Foster efficiency and excellence in our commitment to serve students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Establish professionalism and leadership through our collaborative efforts and strategic initiatives
Education: Ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of education records. Serve as partners in education by supporting institutional goals, and providing guidance and innovative resources to the university community
Communication: Share expertise and facilitate collaboration among campus cohorts in support of our collective mission.
Honor: Uphold honesty, responsibility, and accountability in our standards, practices, and processes. Protect the rights and privacy of students under university, state, and federal guidelines
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all student registration, grading, and transcript information Assist students, faculty, and staff with questions regarding grading issues, registration, test credit, enrollment verifications, FERPA authorizations, transcripts, and student information
Review and determine eligibility of student-athletes in accordance with NCAA bylaw requirements.
Ensure the correct coding and building of courses and sections for each registration cycle. Coordinate with departments for effective room and time scheduling, as well as plan and schedule final exam times and locations.
Oversee and maintain the official degree audit system of Texas Tech University The audit system ensures compliance with state and institutional requirements for graduation
Manage reporting of current institutional enrollment via the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) in accordance with federal requirements and regulations Research, maintain, and ensure accuracy of institutional student information within the NSC database and DegreeVerify system
Review institutional compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations Investigate and respond to FERPA issues and reports of noncompliance with FERPA. Provide FERPA guidance, resources, and training to the university community. Review and respond to requests for student information via subpoenas, court orders, and directory information requests in accordance with FERPA regulations.
Facilitate Registrar news, updates, and information distribution via print, online, and social media platforms
Maintain Registrar systems, as well as create technical solutions and enhancements to make business processes more efficient for internal and external staff
Query and report on information to assist with making informed decisions on future projects
Ensure credits earned via institutional study abroad programs are awarded and documented according to established guidelines and procedures
Provide training in areas related to student and course systems, such as Banner, Raiderlink, Curriculog, and FERPA
Apply test credit to student records in accordance with established departmental and Academic Testing Services guidelines
Apply transfer credit from other institutions, and coordinate with departments to determine appropriate course equivalencies.
Evaluate and maintain student records to determine college readiness in accordance with established State of Texas guidelines. Coordinate with various campus entities to ensure institutional compliance with state-mandated laws and regulations.

Banner for Beginners: Record Management Access
This Banner for Beginners training is suggested for individuals who will access student records in Banner for management purposes (e.g., registration assistance, holds, permits, time ticketing).
Curriculog Training
Curriculog training is intended for individuals who are responsible for submitting or approving courses and program proposals. Individuals will be given access to utilize the Curriculog software for adding, updating, or deleting courses or programs within the Texas Tech University course and program inventory
Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Training
FERPA training is available online and is also offered in person for departments and large groups (e g , New Faculty Orientation, Departmental Training for staff, instructors, and faculty)
Registrar Dashboard
Overview of the new Registrar Dashboard system that provides information queried from the following systems: Student Banner, DegreeWorks, Student Xtender, and Advisor Tab, and also provides reporting capabilities per college and major.
Joseph is a Lubbock native who joined the Office of the Registrar staff in October 2021 He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Electronic Media and Communications in 2010 He plans on continuing his educational journey here at Texas Tech Joseph says the best part of working on campus is being able to serve his alma mater. In Joseph's spare time, you’ll find him playing board games with his daughter Hadley and his son Nate, or cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, the Las Vegas Golden Knights, and the Red Raiders.
Lisa is a Lubbock native who has been a part of the Office of Registrar family for over 12 years As a valued member of the Transfer Evaluation Office, Lisa evaluates transcripts from other colleges and universities She enjoys meeting and working with students, parents, and advisors Lisa has previously worked in other departments across the campus, including the TTU Police Department and TTU Family Medicine Clinic. Lisa also has an associate's degree in Cosmetology. Outside of the office, she spends most of her quality time with family, friends, and singing in her church choir.
Jasmine has lived in Lubbock all her life She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in 2018 She joined the Office of the Registrar in March of 2019 She is a coordinator with our Course and Section Inventory and provides support to College of Architecture, College of Education, College of Engineering, Graduate School, Honors College, Media and Communication, and U N College. In her role, Jasmine coordinates with designated academic departments as the collaborative scheduler. Her primary responsibilities include section builds, room scheduling, and data analysis. She is also a newly elected senator for our TTU Staff Senate. In her free time, Jasmine loves spending time with family, attending sporting events, shopping, playing games, watching movies, and cooking
Alicia is from Rochester, NY and graduated from SUNY Brockport, N.Y. with a Bachelor of Science in Television/Film. Alicia worked at the local Public Broadcasting in upstate New York as a camera operator and production assistant until she moved to Lubbock to be with her sister She previously worked at TTUHSC for 8 years in the Cardiologist department as a Patient Specialist III Alicia began working in the Office of the Registrar in the Fall of 2021 as a Specialist III for the Academic Records department She enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading and watching good mysteries, baking, photography, and traveling
Vanessa and Jasmine were elected to the Staff Senate for a three-year term beginning in 2022. The Texas Tech University Staff Senate exists to contribute to the welfare of its staff employees; to serve as a liaison among faculty, staff, administration, and students; and to advise the administration in matters affecting university staff The Office of the Registrar is proud to have Vanessa and Jasmine serving the University in this capacity.
Shelly Bowman has been appointed to serve as chair-elect for the 2021-2022 Texas Common Course Numbering System Committee. She will be one of five Texas Association of College Registrars and Admissions Officers (TACRAO) members to serve on the committee. The TACRAO TCCNS committee oversees the maintenance, enhancement, and promotion of the Texas Common Course Numbering System Database and matrix website
Together, several members of the Office of the Registrar team took a deep dive into leadership study through the Lean Into Learning: Leadership project. Participants were Shelly Bowman, Delores Sanchez, Shandra Lenord, Kristi Fonseca-Williams, Brian Enderson, and Brenda Martinez. This group committed to reading one leadership study book each month and met together to discuss observations and thoughts. Participants took turns presenting and guiding discussions to apply concepts learned into practice The book list included opportunities for individuals to select titles of interest to them specifically In exchange for their involvement, the books were gifted to the participants to enhance their personal leadership libraries This was a challenging, but extremely enriching experience The group reported they gained much from the opportunity to study experts and meet together to discuss concepts and ways to improve their own leadership skills and styles.
For 36 years, the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) has honored local people whose accomplishments have made Lubbock a great place to live and work. The AWC is a professional organization that champions the advancement of women across all communications disciplines by recognizing excellence and promoting leadership Recipients of the 2020 and 2021 AWC awards were honored at the 36th Annual Celebrity Luncheon on September 23, 2021 Kat Livingston, Co-Founder and Director of Kat’s Alley Cats, was presented with the Gold Medal Award on behalf of Kat’s Alley Cats, a local nonprofit dedicated to humanely reducing the population of community cats through TrapNeuter-Return. The Gold Medal Award is presented to people who, over an extended period of time, have worked to improve the quality of life for a broad spectrum of those living in the Lubbock area.

We thank you for your hard work and want you to know, this will be one of the most appreciated TACRAO conferences ever held.”
The annual State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) was a great success. Through individual employee donations and various fundraising events, we contributed a total of $5907 00 to the overall campaign This was 273% of our departmental goal of $2156 48 All departmental fundraising contributions were donated to Kat’s Alley Cats and Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic Individual payroll contributions were also donated to nonprofit organizations of each employee’s choosing
In November, our office was honored to work with the Lubbock Dream Center to donate Thanksgiving meal boxes that were given to four community families in need We once again partnered with the Lubbock Dream Center in December to donate toys and games to local families during the holiday season
During the spring semester, we were proud to help raise public awareness about sexual violence and the need to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent sexual violence by wearing jeans with a purpose in support of Denim Day. Our office also joined in with many other campus departments and student organizations to plant flora in recognition of Arbor Day
Wrapping up the academic year, several staff members represented the Registrar’s Office at various student resource events The Raider Roadshow Resource Fair offered an opportunity for future Red Raiders to visit with campus departments and learn about all that TTU has to offer. During Red Raider Orientation, our office provided TSI support and services to incoming students We also participated in One Stop, which takes place during move-in week, giving students an opportunity to address any remaining questions or additional needs
