New Lagaw Titui partner set to draw global interest

Lagaw Titui (Island Stars) has secured a partnership with Australian Geographic Travel (AGT) to deliver Zenadth Kes cultural immersion tours on Waiben, Ngurupai and Giralag. The collaboration invited Australian Geographic Travel’s global audiences to visit the region and experience Island Stars’ deep local knowledge and Indigenous storytelling.

Island Stars co-founder Joey Laifoo said the tour would offer an immersive experience of culture, connection and discovery. “At Island Stars, we are committed to educating visitors on our culture to further reconciliation and strengthen connection,” he said. “This four-day tour is a culturally safe way of sharing some of our practices, stories, art, ecology, and navigation.

“It was built under the guidance of local elders and cultural experts.” He said the alliance with AGT strengthened Torres Strait tourism at an international level and significantly expanded the reach and impact of the Island Stars’ vision. It was also expected to foster greater awareness, respect, and support for cultural preservation, environmental stewardship and Indigenous-led travel experiences.

“We are thrilled to partner with AGT to bring the depth and beauty of Torres Strait culture to the world,” Mr Laifoo said. “Through this venture, we aim to empower our people, share our stories, and build meaningful connections between travellers and our islands’ living heritage.” From AGT’s perspective, the tour aligned with its mission to promote enduring connections between people and place, and

encourage the exploration of the world’s biodiversity, cultures and ecosystems in a responsible and engaging way. The Torres Strait Islands Cultural Immersion tour is open for booking and limited to small groups (maximum 10 people) to preserve intimacy and authenticity.
