Badu’s Wakaid Tribal Council of Elders will be the first grassroots organisation in Queensland to establish a new haemodialysis unit in their community, which they say will bring services closer to home and ultimately save lives. They said they hoped the new remote unit would mean the days of chairs on Waiben being full and families being forced to travel thousands of kilometres for treatment would soon be over.

State Labor loses government to LNP BY VELMA GARA The Liberal National Party (LNP) has won the state election and leader David Crisafulli is the new Queensland Premier. In the seat of Cook, yesterday’s figures showed David Kempton well ahead in the count, with a massive
swing against incumbent MP Cynthia Lui. On Monday, via social media, Mr Kempton said thank you to the electorate, “from the bottom of my heart”. “I promised safe hands, a strong voice and to turn up every time,” he said.
Earlier this week, Mr Crisafulli said they officially began their new role in government on behalf of all Queenslanders. “We serve at their behest and it is a responsibility we do not take lightly,” he said on social media. “We have a lot of work to do to deliver the fresh start
