Waiben last week. The new police vessel QPV Paul Ray Dai was named after the late Paul Ray Dai, who was a Senior Police Liaison Officer (PLO). He served the Queensland community with distinction in Zenadth Kes for more than

38 years in the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and as a Community Police Officer. He began in policing on Saibai Island before moving to Waiben, where he was offered a position with the QPS on 23 July 1990.

Paul transferred to the Brisbane Watchhouse in 1998 for two years, before returning to Horn Island in 1999 at the new police station. He formed a special bond with the officers serving or living on Horn Island over the 22 years of
his service at the police station and to the community, before his passing on 27 February 2021. Mr Dai’s family celebrated the memory of this remarkable man at the event. More pics on PAGE 4 N
