BLAK, LOUD AND PROUD Torres Strait Islanders from across the nation have marched, danced, sang and celebrated this year’s NAIDOC theme Blak, Loud and Proud with their Aboriginal brothers, sisters and allies in one of the biggest years ever for the event. At the National NAIDOC Week Awards ceremony in Adelaide last Saturday night two Torres Strait
Islanders – Dulcie Flower and Alick Tipoti – took out two of the most esteemed national awards against the stunning backdrop of Torres Strait Islander artist Deb Belyea’s winning poster artwork. Events were held in almost every town across the nation, including locally. See our full NAIDOC wrap on PAGES 5, 6, 7, 10 & 11 N
