Island Stars Café event boosts funds for Denne’s family In May Denne Bourke, a new father to Kiva and partner to Georgia, paddled out in his canoe on his usual route but didn’t make it home. Despite a 13-day exhaustive search by officials and community volunteers, he was never found. A Go-Fund-Me page created last week to raise just $2000 for his family has already raised more than $33,000 to support them (see https://gofund. me/b39759d8). On Saturday, Island Stars Café also held a fundraiser, from 6am to midday,
to raise funds for the family, and to celebrate and enjoy the last coffee beans from Denne’s business. They said they wanted to thank all the team and supporters who helped out. “Mina big Esso for community family and friends, for tuning up and supporting this event at Island Stars Café,” they said. “Mina good seeing community coming together.” Pics thanks to Island Stars Café.
