Serious start to Battle for the Islands
Pics by Rosalie Jensen with thanks to TSYRSA. A well-supported and enthusiastic march against domestic violence kicked off last weekend’s massive 2022 ‘Battle of the Islands’ touch football club championships last Thursday. Organised by the Torres Strait Youth & Recreational
Sporting Association, the four-day event was also alcohol, drug and smoke free.
Congratulations to winners Vikings for the men’s competition and Storms for the women!
“We want everybody to play safe, have fun and go home, we don’t encourage fights or anything like that,” Vice President William McKeown said.
Also congratulations to the men’s runners up Balas and women’s runners up the Jokers.
