Football the winner as Torres Strait players shine bright Footy was the winner last weekend with the Torres Strait players rising above and beyond in an unseasonably busy round of games in several states and places. Rising young rugby league star Ezra Mam, 19, may have earned the five eighth position for the Broncos NRL opening round game, after a quality performance for Brisbane in a Queensland Cup trial match last weekend. Full story Page 16 And we all know Jasmine Peters and Tahlulah Tillett shone for the Indigenous All Stars women’s team on Saturday night in Sydney, while David Fifita, Reuben Cotter and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow also played their part for the men’s team, each of them contributing their best in ‘trying’ (extremely wet!) circumstances!
