I

n her pursuit for Justice Itumeleng Sebothoma aged 22 from Hammanskraal in Stinkwater, celebrated her 16 Days of Activism fighting for justice for their member who got killed by being stabbed nine times by her boyfriend.

Sebothoma started the march group in 2020, with the purpose of fighting for justice for women who got killed by their partners and also being a voice for those who are in an abusive relationships, the protest spread the word theme ‘’enough is enough’’ in hope to be the voice for silent victims.

This time it was unfortunate for her because she had a march and demanded fair justice for one of their member named Gontse Malatji, who was allegedly stabbed nine times by her boyfriend Nkateko.

They marched to her final resting place during her funeral that took place on the 21 November 2021, wanting the community to realize that they are really tired of burying their mothers and sisters

who have died in the hands of abusive partners.

It was mentioned that Gontse was always marching and demanding justice for the victims of abuse. She was always posting quotes on her social media platforms encouraging people not to stay in unhealthy relationship while she was the one going through the most.

“Gontse was always part of the protest, she was always there to support. On her Facebook page, she used to encourage people that ‘mosadi ga a bethiwe’ meaning that women shouldn’t get beaten while she went through the very same thing. We wish she could have spoken to us maybe

today she would still be here with us.

This march has to be a normal one, not only because of the 16 days of activism but as to give our member a dignified funeral. We also want more men to join us in fighting against these perpetrators who kill our mothers, sisters and children. I still believe that there are still good men out there, we just need to shout their voice out and say enough is enough.’’ Said by Itumeleng who is the organizer of the march.

Itumeleng was encouraged by the course she is studying at University of South Africa which is Bachelor of Law and her being part of Miss Akasia South Africa finalist, the platform helps her to voice out the word of hope.

"I am very excited that the MEC came to our precinct in a bid to help us fight the scourge of crime while interacting with the residents, it shows that we have the support from above and we will definitely beat this elephant in the room called crime, especially gender based violence," said Maphoto.

Three suspects hunted following a house robbery in Block BB

By Captain Stephen Maluleka An Investigation has been launched by The Rietgat police, following a case of house robbery that took place recently at Block BB, Soshanguve.

According to the information received, three suspects stormed into a yard in Block BB at about 19:20 and found the complainant's daughter outside the house throwing rubbish In the bin, and they pointed her with a gun.

As the complainant heard her daughter screaming she tried to check but was also pointed by another suspect and were pushed to the bedroom where they were tied with shoelaces and electrical cord together with the aunt

who was also In the house at the time.

Subsequently the suspects searched the house and made off with two laptops (Lenovo & Acer), two cellphones (Samsung A30 and A32), Samsung tablet 4 and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspects further took bank cards, spare car keys and the house keys which they also used to lock them inside the house before fleeing the scene.

No one was injured during the robbery and no shots were fired. SMU accommodation protest intensifies

The University further advised protesting students that it would not be making any further extensions on residences

By Tebogo Senosha editorial@tshwanebulletin.co.za Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University students are not showing any signs of slowing down, this after the angry students blocked the University’s entrance, protesting over accommodation in which they were trying their best to pursuade management to extend the contract with three outside residences.

In their efforts to get their message across to management, students blocked the entrance and burnt tyres, while bemoaning lack of consultation from management before announcing that they had to vacate these residences

by January 2022 as it was not renewing contracts with the residences.

The three residences which students were asked to vacate by January next year were Drie Lelies, Tshwane Varsity Lodge and The Heights.

Reacting to the continued unrest by students, Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University released a statement saying, “In the last few days, Management received a set of demands from students residing at Universityleased off campus residences, particularly TVL, The Heights and Drie Lillies. The main demand raised is that students should continue to reside at these facilities whose contract with the University expires at the end of 2021.

What the students want Management to do is to essentially annul its decision that has been approved by Council,” revealed the

statement.

The University feared that if the protests continue for long, the 2020 academic year could be severely and negatively affected.

“Sadly, the continued student protest will collapse the 2020 academic calendar which has previously been revised again due to staff and student protests on campus earlier in the year.

“The University rules prohibit any protestors from barricading university entrances.

Thr University Management therefore calls upon protesting students not to prevent those students who want to proceed with their academic studies or staff members who wish to access their offices,” said in a statement.

The University further advised protesting students that it would not be making any further extensions on residences as that may prove costly for them on contractual basis.

“Students are similarly requested to abide by the decision taken by the University as no further extensions of the residences in question would be made as doing so would be illegal and exposes the University to litigation. The University is not in position to act outside the structures of its Supply Chain Management policies,” the statement concluded.

By Letlhogonolo Mosete editorial@tshwanebulletin.co.za Termed ‘Decade of the Artisan’ Tshwane North TVET College held an illuminating exhibition and career expo educating as well as dispelling the myth associated with TVET colleges, as it hosted various schools encompassing the Tshwane North District recently, at one of its campuses in Soshanguve Block GG. Learners got first-hand experience about different trade disciplines being offered at the institution but also heard testimonials from alumni’s who have proceeded to make a success out of their hardwork merged with skills.

The institution’s Principal Ms Thembi Tsibogo said “The artisan of the decade was started in 2014 by the ministry of higher education and training it main objective is introducing artisanship as a career choice for the youth of South Africa. As learners you are going to see what we’ve got for you and out of that you will be taking back home with you and that would be knowledge.”

Mabopane train services to resume operations After trains were grounded, commuters lost their jobs

abopane train services to resume operations.

Train commuters can sigh with relief as PRASA Spokesperson Ms Lillian Mofokeng confirmed that the train service operations between Mabopane and Tshwane Central Business District (CBD) will resume shortly.

Lillian Mofokeng said: “In the next 90 days of construction, several companies will be working on different projects, including the rehabilitation of stations, resignalling, wall fencing, construction of footbridges, rehabilitation of traction substations and overhead track equipment.

Mofokeng said Prasa was committed to restoring an improved safe, reliable and much-needed affordable public transport system to allow easy access to economic opportunities.

She said the immediate benefits of a new modernised infrastructure will be a safer, faster, smoother and world class train service with improved travelling times.

“The closure will enable the free movement of big machines that will be utilised for rehabilitation of the overhead traction equipment.”

More than 80% of train stations in Gauteng have been left in ruins after they were stripped of anything of value, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded.

The infrastructure was ravaged after President Cyril Ramaphosa placed the country under lockdown last year following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This left train stations unguarded, paving the way for thieves to plunder anything from cables, handrails and windows to doors and bricks.

After trains were grounded, commuters lost their jobs because they could not afford to pay for taxi fares, which are much more expensive.

A decomposed body of a 50year-old found in Block VV Soshanguve

n inquest case is under investigation by the Soshanguve Police Station following a lifeless body of a woman that was found in Block VV East of

Soshanguve recently..

Preliminary investigation suggests that the woman was residing at the address and she is presumed to be in her mid-50s.

The investigation further discovered that a passerby saw flies on the window panes and stopped a police vehicle that was also passing to help him decipher what he was seeing.

Subsequently, the police came to the

house and broke down the door to gain entry and found the deceased lying in the bedroom. They also found contacts of her mother-in-law who came and identified her at scene.

Due to her state of decomposition, it was difficult to determine if there was any weapon used on the body. However the postmortem will determine the actual cause of her death.

It is also alleged that the deceased was married to a 50 year-old man who is alleged to have committed suicide in Block HH West of Soshanguve earlier today.

Temba residents granted new mobile Police Station

n an effort to get services closer to the people, Temba SAPS in Hammanskraal accompanied by Gauteng provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela and the MEC for Community Safety Ms Faith Mazibuko have handed over a Client Service Centre (CSC) mobile truck as part of quick response and service delivery.

The mobile police station truck was handed over recently during the launch of Operation safer festive season at Stinkwater by the National Commissioner of police General Khehla Sithole.

The mobile CSC truck was handed over to the station Commander of Temba SAPS Brigadier Johannes Tau to be utilized and serve the community at large.

The truck was immediately utilized where the police visits different areas each and every day.

“There is a Mobile police station at Sthobeshop. Every Monday it will provide you with all the services you get from the police station, let’s pass the message to everyone and our parents as well. It won’t be there on Tuesday onwards because it has to service other four sectors of Temba Police Station,” concluded Kgopa.

By Letlhogonolo Mosete editorial@tshwanebulletin.co.za Higher Education, Science and Innovation Deputy Minister Buti Manamela joined by the High Commissioner of India to South Africa and Lesotho Jaideep Sarkar officially opened the GandhiMandela Centre of Specialisation for Artisan Skills at the Tshwane South Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, in Pretoria West.

The government of India had invested R48-million to help establish the centre.

South Africa and India in July 2018 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together to establish the GandhiMandela Centre of Specialisation for Artisanal Skills, in recognition of the country’s drive to promote quality vocational education and training for young people, as well as to meet the need for artisanal skills in the country The Department of Higher Education and Training has committed to launching 26 Centres of Specialisation at TVET colleges across the country, with the aim to prioritise 13 occupational trades in high demand to curb trade skills shortages, as well as reduce unemployment and poverty.

The South African government has allocated R150million to fund the initial set-up costs of the 26 centres.

Manamela said the department was laying the foundation for differentiation in the college system by selecting certain colleges to focus on particular trades.

“While some colleges may later specialise in the same trades, it is desirable that other colleges will develop expertise in other trades and occupations to ensure less duplication and increased

quality specialisation.

“The strategic repositioning of our TVET colleges is particularly important given the challenges and opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). The advent of the 4IR will disrupt the nature of work and the labour market as we have known them.

"However, such disruption should not be viewed as another pandemic, but rather as an opportunity to innovate and make our training and development institutions more agile,” he added.

You may recall that in 2018, the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) embarked on a campaign to launch 26 Centres of Specialisation, prioritising 13 occupational trades in high demand, with the aim of curbing the shortage of trade skills while reducing unemployment and poverty in our country.

As you may be aware, these 26 Centres of Specialisation are located at 19 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges across the country. The 19 colleges were selected following a rigorous process undertaken by teams of education and industry experts, including the National Skills Fund, to identify trades that are in demand for the national infrastructure programme as well as other strategic programmes.

Further to this, these 26 centres were provided with resources to upgrade their workshops and equipment to deliver effectively on these much-needed skills. The Centres of Specialisation are well positioned to prepare students

for the workplace, or for self-employment, through the maintenance of close working relationships with employers in their areas of study.

This is in line with our White Paper for Post-School Education and Training, which states that the TVET Colleges are to prepare students

for workplace and/or selfemployment.

You may also recall that, at the 2018 BRICS Summit, South Africa and India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together on establishing the GandhiMandela Centre of Specialisation for Artisanal Skills in South Africa. This was in recognition of South Africa's drive to promote quality vocational education and training for young people, as well as to meet the need for artisanal skills in the country.

Mabuza who is a Teacher by Profession and also a Modeling coach revealed her desire to become a Professional Motivational Speaker one day.

In an exclusive interview with Tshwane Bulletin, Mabuza revealed what motivated her to join the Miss Bachelorette competition.

“What motivated me to join the Miss Bachelorette competition was solely based on the platform that Miss Bachelorette offers to women. When I saw their advertisement on Instagram and when I read its Mission, I instantly felt like an answered prayer to me since it focuses on the recognition of independent, mature and unmarried women.

“It intends to empower unmarried women between the ages of 25 to 50, bridging the gab that exists in our societies because cause at this age women are usually expected to be married. The Miss Bachelorette organisation also focuses on inclusion, meaning they truly understand that women are multi-faceted hence they allow you to come as you are regardless of your race, body size, skin color, height or culture”.

She continued to say, “It provides an opportunity for women to understand that they can be beautifully independent and capable of achieving their goals all by themselves. With that being said the organization is not against marriage neither does it discourage marriage but instead it empowers women to marry for the right reasons not ONLY for financial stability that they might get from men. It helps a woman to understand that she can build herself and grow in every aspect of her life before even meeting a life partner”.

Two top Djs leave Ga-Rankuwa Fm

The management would love to thank them for their service

Mogau Rankoana Ga-Rankuwa Fm has recently confirmed in a statement the departure of its two top Djs, Pelo Modiga who was hosting The Artistry of Jazz and Mogau Rankoana who was the host for Sediba sa mmino.

The station took to its social media page to announce the news and to bid farewell to the two presenters.

“We would like to announce that @PeloModiga (The Artistry of Jazz) and @ MogauRankoana ( Sediba sa mmino) will be leaving GaRankuwa Fm to persue and advance their career interests.

“The management of GaRankuwa fm would love to thank them for their consistent professionalism and service to our radio station. Tune in today as they give us their final shows. Help us wish them well on their new journey,” they said, in a statement.

Born and bred in GaRankuwa, Pelo Modiga, is also a business woman and a Marketing and PR Specialist, Corporate MC among others.

She joined Ga-Rankuwa Fm in May 2020 as a News Reader, before being given an opportunity to host her own Jazz show in August that year, the opportunity which to date, she still holds dearly as one of her proudest moments since joining Ga-Rankuwa Fm. “My proudest moment was being the first female to host her very own show at Ga-Rankuwa Fmx instead of being a co-host or supporting personality. Getting into a genre of music (Jazz) that is dominated by men. I presented the show with grace and passion,” she said.

Reflecting on her relationship with Ga-Rankuwa Fm listeners, Modiga said,”Music connects you with people you would think are out of your reach. I had a beautiful relationship with my listeners. My departure was a difficult one on both me and the listeners. I have always been aware of their love, but the love I got upon thr announcement that I was leaving, left me in

awe and truly humbled. I will always miss them”.

She also had some words of encouragement for GaRankuwa Fm employees and Management.

“Continue to work hard.

Community radio is important in nurturing local talent. We nee our radio stations to continue to run so that young talent finds an avenue to showcase their talents, after practice makes perfect,” she said this before motivating young people who would one day like to work in radio broadcasting.

“Prepare to work hard. Be yourself no matter what. Treat radio as a production. Come prepared at all times and give a performance of your life every time the microphone is on. Respect your listeners.

God will never plant a seed inside without thr intention of watering it. Involve God in everything you do,” advised Modiga.

She would be joining a regional commercial radio station, YOUFM, with her first show set for the 21st November 2021, from 10am to 2pm. The station’s frequency in Pretoria is 103.9.

Mogau Rankoana who is better known as Mr Soul Provider is from Letlhabile and has been with Ga-Rankuwa Fm for a year and 5 months.

Having been brought up in a family that loved music and radio, it was no surprise when Rankoana also became passionate about radio. His uncle worked for Radio Mmatho while his older brother worked for Letlhabile Community Radio.

Upon his departure from the station, Rankoana who is an Accountant by profession, UNISA B Com Law and LLB graduate, thanked the Management for affording him the opportunity to be part of the family since last year.

H/skraal Sports Academy hosts 5-day football trials

ased in Kanana, Hammanskraal Sports Academy is calling for all players between the ages of 11 to 22 to come and participate in the 5-day football trials scheduled for 11 December 2021 to 18 December 2021.

The academy has turned out to be a huge success since its establishment in 2015 and it aims to produce and scout young talent through these annual football trails.

They are currently working closely with the Hammanskraal Local Football Association (HALFA) in a quest to unearth

raw soccer talent and produce the next Aubrey Ngomas of the beautiful game.

In an interview with Tshwane Bulletin, Founder and Chairman of Hammanskraal Sports Academy, Gontse Shirinde revealed what was the motivation behind the idea.

“I started this academy because of the interest from players who wants to join the team, that’s what motivated me” said the chairman.

He further revealed what has been the driving force behind previous succesful camp trials ,“We have no expectation but to do everything according to plan. I think because of the hard work and professionalism we show makes our trials a success”.

urrently campaigning in the Pink Love Netball League, Soshanguve block HH outfit, Little Stars under 15 netball team has been hard at work, breaking sweat in preparation for the highly contested 2021/22 Pink Love netball season.

While analysing their preparations, Assistant coach, Tumisang Makofane who was speaking to Tshwane Bulletin Newspaper recently, emphasized that their team’s preparations went well from the beginning up to so far, further adding that the team was more than ready for a challenge in the new league season.

She also revealed that one of the reasons she felt the team was well prepared was the fact that they have managed to get the involvement of players’ parents

“They have been supportive in the best possible way they can be. I mean allowing their children to come and play netball is more than enough and more of a bonus,” added Makofane.

Asked what she was expecting from the team this season in the league, coach Makofane indicated that she was expecting a lot from her team, while also not ruling out the desire to win the league itself.

“We have very high expectations this season.
