MAIN STORY The EFF in Tshwane has thrown the gauntlet at big corporates, calling for an immediate end to the exploitation of workers but rather seek to apportion to them control and ownership businesses they are toiling for.

This was during a gruesome march attended by thousands of EEF supporters who braved the soaring summer heat by walking on foot from Cassandra Park in Ga-Rankuwa to the Rosslyn Industrial Park.

The Deputy Chairperson of EFF in Tshwane Adv. Phillip Leofi Leshabane said as the vanguard of the working call they want all companies to put to end outsourcing of all workers.

“We demand an immediate end to outsourcing of workers including cleaners and gardeners. We demand an end to contract work and all companies must employ them on a full-time basis with medical aid and pension fund.

“We demand an immediate end to continuous intimidation, racial attacks on workers and majority of them are Africans. There should also be proper rotation of staff in all shifts, we are aware that some workers have only been working nightshifts for many years without any rotation,” said Leshabane.

He received rousing applause when he called for a minimum wage of R 12 500; “The workers through the EFF of Tshwane are saying to Nissan, BMW, Afrit, Praga and SAB that they want better wages and salaries. Under the EFF in Tshwane we are saying a minimum of wage should be R 12 500.

“All workers who were injured while they were on duty and have not been paid up until today they must receive the money owed to them. We demand that all former employees must receive all their pension, provident fund payments without any further delay,” said Leshabane.

The EFF called for the corporates to play a more meaningful role more especially in the development of infrastructure in the areas around the business park.

“We demand each company in the area around Rosslyn including (Nissan, BMW, Afrit, Praga and SAB) to adopt a school and early childhood development centre in the City of Tshwane with clear commitment.

“This also with the establishment of a national skills centre, training colleges and adoption of Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and other universities and colleges in the City to share resources to provide skills and other expertise.

Housing handover postponed

Gogo Ngwenya turns 117

Social media users warned by police

A

t 117, Betty Makhanana Ngwenya is still a strong woman, full of wisdom she continues to let those closest to her know how to love and humble themselves. Five generations of her family shared this sentiment during her birthday celebration in Soshanguve recently.

“She’ll give her last, not only her first.

She’ll give all to anyone at any time.

This because she said we must love one another. There’s just no way to describe someone like her. She is simply a pillar of

hope for the family, providing a ray of light even when it is dark.

“She has always been there for us regardless of the situation or conditions. Working hard at all times to give us everything that we wanted.

There were times when growing up I thought she was my mother even though I knew she was actually my grandmother, simply because of the love she gave us,” said Zanele Jiyane, granddaughter.

Born in Limpopo in 1901, Ngwenya was abducted and forced into marriage by one of the soldiers who fought in the 1st World War. Together they settled in Boekonhout where they

had 8 children and survived by 5 of them.

Her son Billy Ngwenya said; “Her secret to longevity lies sticking to a healthy diet and not being lazy.She fed us beans, fruits, vegetables, samp and nuts. We would eat as little meat as possible and when we did it would be chicken. I think this helped to keep her eyes, ears and mind sharp and her body healthy.”

“At the time she had a stall in Winterveldt where she was selling fruits, vegetables and sweets called (Woza-Woza) that people loved so much. Every-day after school I would go home and change my uniform and rush to the stall to relieve her. With the little money she made out of selling her fruits and vegetable she would then send us to school,” said Ngwenya.

Soshanguve Romans Pizza made Ngwenya’s birthday extra special showering her with lovely gifts and making sure everyone was well fed.

George Molefe of the pizza giant store said they decided to spoil Ngwenya with a comfy Posterpedic bed to ensure that even in her old age she can have a peaceful sleep at night.

ith many cases being reported, whereby victims unfortunately in worst case scenarios ended being raped or killed, after they were lured via social media and as the festive season euphoria hits.

The Rietgat police would like to warn social media users to conduct a thorough research on their so called “friends” before meeting them in person.

The station’s Spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said; “It is advisable to meet Facebook friends, Twitter and Instagram followers in public places where everyone would be able to help if there is something untoward about a “friend” or “follower”. The station would also like to urge these social media users particularly teenage girls and young women to inform their elders, friends or confidants about where they are going, who they will be meeting and share any information pertaining to their whereabouts.

God said to Joshua in Joshua 1:3 “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” Just as Canaan was God’s gift and a blessing to Joshua and the children of Israel, all the promises of God in the Bible belong to you and me who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Joshua 1:3 is the Old Testament for Ephesians 1:3.

The blessings which God has already blessed us with in heavenly places include all of God’s graces and gifts.

They include holiness, righteousness, adoption as children of God, victory in Christ over Satan and his agents, healing, deliverance, prosperity in every area of life, and many more. However, though the land of Canaan belonged to the children of Israel as a gift from God, the children of Israel had to go up and possess it. This also applies to New Testament believers. Like Joshua and his community, we must also learn to claim all the promises and blessings of God which are rightfully ours in the Bible by putting the foot of faith on them. Even when we meet with giants that try to resist us, if we confront them in the power of the Holy Spirit, they will surrender to us because God is with us.

Put and keep in putting your foot of faith on every promise in the Bible and claim it by faith confession and prayer in the name of Jesus. As you do so, sooner or later, God will show you His faithfulness

by fulfilling His promises to you (Joshua 21:43). He will defeat every enemy that tries to oppose you (Deuteronomy 1:30), in Jesus’ name. Amen! Enjoy your meditation!

Millions killed by diabetes FORMER first lady Bongi Ngema- Zuma at Favors Cathedral Church testing for diabetes

ver 5 million people worldwide die due to Diabetes. That statement by Former first lady Bongi Ngema Zuma as her foundation paid the Favors Cathedral Church in Pretoria West a visit recently.

Flanked by the Minister of Sports Thokozile Xasa and Deputy Minister of Health Mathume Phaahla and the churches Bishop Dudu Comfort, Ngema-Zuma said that

70% of the population in Africa are living with diabetes unbeknown to them.

“Every six seconds around the world someone loses their life due diabetes related complications, contributing to the high mortality rate experienced by the continent. We need the same awareness campaign for diabetes like HIV/AIDS one to be rolled out in order to intensify our fight against diabetes,” Said Ngema-Zuma. NgemaZumafurther said“People need to take care of themselves and as a foundation we want to impart knowledge, create awareness about the disease and en-

courage people to test, we are here to say no to diabetes” Deputy Minister of Health Mathume Phaahla said; “Diabetes is a silent killer as claims millions of lives and thank you to the Bongi Ngema Zuma Foundation for thaking the initiative to empower and educate the people about the disease. It poses as a major threat to the vision of our people’s longevity as it goes undetected.”

“We also need men to come to the fore in terms of knowing their health status as we have seen that they do not participate when it comes to matters of health, we have a serious problem when it comes to non communicable diseases and if the problem is not addressed we will never be prosperous as a nation. The battle will never be won until ordinary citizens are informed and take right decisions regarding theor health and wellbeing,’ said Phaahla.

Bishop Comfort said; “We appreciate the time and dedication given to us by our leaders as we have seen that the disease can have devastating effects.”

Leader of Amandebele -A-Moletlane inaugurated

here seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel to issues around the legitimacy of Amandebele-A-Moletlane, this after the inauguration of Chief Madimetja Shikoane II Kekana’s the heir to the thrownending years of worrying faction held at Klipdrift, Kekana Gardens in Hammaskraal recently.

His ascendency to the much contested seat was finally recommended by Kgoshi Sello Kekana III of Zebediela Ndebele Tribal Authority.

Shikoane II Kekana is the first born son of the late Paramount Chief Zebediela Simon Kekana who was inaugurated in 1966 and died in 2007.

Speaking during his inauguration Chief Madimetja Shikoane II Kekana said his existence has been kept a secret by those who lied about his chieftaincy of the tribe for their own benefit by illegally selling its land.

“All communities that are under the areas of Amandebele-A-Moletlane are beneficiaries of land claim that was lodged by my father Paramount Chief ZSKekana (PO 189). As a result I will ensure that the selling of land at a high price without his consent should come to an end. I will ensure that land is allocated fairly and lawfully to all who deserve it and churches will be allocated land of their choice at no cost,” he said

Athletics Club runner, Mpho Motaung has set his sight on qualifying for the World Student Games to be held at Napoli in Italy, this comes after the 24 year student

outran fellow runners to win the BDS Marathon held at Wonderpark Shopping Centre recently.

The excited runner said the marathon was in line with his preparation for next season as the bigger picture is to get better in order to qualify for the games.

“My preparation has been satisfying and I am happy with my

performance today. I have more than ten years of running and I want to be the best at it, credit must also be given to fellow runners as they were also well prepared,” said Motaung.

Thabang Matlou followed suit and claimed the second spot whilst Kenyan runner Chirchir Kipkoech came third

Fellow student runner Thembi Baloyi, came top to win the ladies category as TUT made a clean sweep at the race and ascend the podium.

Runners both young and old young and old woke up in the early hours of the morning to partake in the race as good weather prevailed.

BDS Chairman Mashilo Kouane said; “I am very happy that everything went very well, the turnout is satisfying as runners are using this race as preparation for the Soweto marathon. From our side we didn’t have much trouble pertaining to logistics
