ust days into the new schooling calendar, police had to move swiftly and apprehend two Winterveldt’s men suspected of stealing laptops and making off with the principal’s car at Father Smangaliso Mkhatshwa High School recently. The suspects went to the school pretending to be looking for admission. Loate Police Spokesperson Captain Sebola said they arrested the suspects after following a tip-off about two men seen at Chiloane Stand caring laptops. “Upon arrival the police saw one suspect trying to run away with a laptop. We followed him into a room he had entered and found two men inside. They then confessed that they had stolen the items at the school. This after they failed to produce proof of ownership of the items. We also managed to recover the school principal’s car which was also stolen,” said Sebola. The suspects will are expected to appear before Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate Court shortly.
City declares health building safe for occupation
T
he City of Tshwane has swiftly managed to address the defective centralised ventilation system at Isivuno Building, one of the offices occupied by its staff members. This follows the earlier removal of the City’s 400 employees from the building pending the optimal functioning of the ventilation system. The employees had to be stationed in some of the City’s regional offices. The City can today confirm that the occupational hazards that were identified have now been attended to, and staff members are now operating from the building. Last year, the City conducted an inspection following complaints by our staff members that the building’s ventilation/ air conditioning system is occasionally failing, leading to poor indoor air quality.
