B

lock P and Y residents in Soshanguve have been warned to be vigilant even during the day as armed robbery cases are alarmingly increasing. The Rietgat South African Police Service issued a communiqué to that effect, warning the

community about the alarming increase in armed robberies in its policing area. Rietgat SAPS Spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said “Such crimes are sporadic and takes place at any time of the day. The station would like to call on the community to avoid walking with cellphones illuminating at night and in isolated areas. We also urge them to be very vigilant even during the day especially in Block

P and Y.” As the Rietgat SAPS, we are working around the clock to curb this scourge of crime to ensure that the community is and feel safe at all times. The station, under the commandership of Colonel Stephina Nkosi further called on members of the community to avoid carrying large amounts of money, but instead use electronic means of spending their cash. As the police, we have ex-

perienced cases of bank following robberies; therefore we would like to circumvent that by informing the community to always be vigilant. As the station, we encourage the community to blow the whistle against crime and memorize the Crime Stop line 0860010111 and the Rietgat SAPS’ Client Service Centre (CSC) 012 432 7806/7. Download MY SAPS APP on Play store or Apple store and help us with the tip offs.
