olice have called on members of the community to remain vigilant at all times, this comes on the back of the number of burglaries recorded in the recent weeks. Rietgat police spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said although the crimes are sporadic as they happen through the day. “As the station we would like to call on members of the community to ensure that all windows, doors and gates are locked properly. They must not leave keys on the door at night and make sure that curtains are not widely open. They should not leave enablers such as dustbins around the yard where they can be used by criminals to either gain entry or exit the premises. Curtains must remain closed at all time so that thugs loitering the streets must not see inside the house,” said Maluleka. He encouraged members of the community refrain from buying stolen goods since it is criminal to do so
