SPECIAL REPORT Police conducted a stop and search operation in Soshanguve recently where 37 suspect apprehended for various crimes committed
ver 2000 pamphlets with vital information on civilians safety measures were distributed by the Rietgat SAPS in collaboration with the Community Policing Forum, Youth Desk and the Youth for Survival to the community of Block KK informal settlement recently This was done in a bid to raise awareness and cast the spotlight on crimes such as, domestic violence, house robberies, Carjacking, Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) as well as public violence. “The awareness campaign saw a distribution of over 2000 pamphlets also extended to motorists at the intersections near the informal settlement and the Batho Plaza Shopping Complex's intersections. The pamphlets contained various eye opening tips which covered proactive measures to circumvent the scourge of crime,” said Captain Stephen Maluleka. These forms part of some of the Provincial Commissioner's priorities of reducing high volume of crime and community mobilization amongst other things.

firearm, house and burglary at residential premises, malicious damage to property, driving motor vehicle without a licence and drunk driving. Captain Stephen Maluleka said;“The Rietgat SAPS continues to take the people of Soshanguve on a safer journey by increasing the number of suspects behind bars The members are ensuring that firearms, drugs and stolen properties do not criss cross the precinct willy nilly. About 37 suspects were nabbed through various operations which included inter alia, stop and searches, tracing and other intelligence driven initiatives.” All the suspects are expected to appear at the Soshanguve Magistrate's Court soon.
