n incorrect statement to the effect that social grant beneficiaries using paypoints would be paid on 11 May instead of 06 May 2019 was circulated last week. To correct this, SASSA wishes to inform beneficiaries who were originally scheduled for Monday 06 May 2019 payment date that the date has not changed. All SASSA cash paypoints scheduled for 06 May 2019 will be opened and beneficiaries will be able to collect their grants on that day. Beneficiaries will also be able to collect their grants from shops, ATM’s and all post offices nationally will be open for grant payments on the 06 May 2019. SASSA wishes to sincerely apologise for last week’s miscommunication and reassure beneficiaries that this type of thing does not happen again caucus leadership before the mayor could deliver his address left the chamber claiming there was an urgent need for them to be in solidarity with the residents of Tshwane and they wanted to quell the protests But the Democratic Alliance Utility Services Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) Abel Tau was not chuffed as he directly implicated the ANC to be behind the whole protest upheaval. “We will not be held hostage and be intimidated by petty political tricks orchestrated by the ANC with the attempt to hold us at ransom as they cannot concede defeat,” said Tau. The Economic Freedom Fighters representative concurred with Tau statements that the ANC was behind the whole protests. The EFF Tshwane Regional Chairperson Moafrica Mabongwana said “This whole mess reeks of the ANC; it is their thuggery acts responsible for the whole protest.”
