Certification Programs Lifeguarding

Pretest: Tuesday & Thursday Time: 6:00 – 9:00 pm Dates: Pretest: Tuesday, September 28th, 6:00 – 7:00pm Session 1: October 5th – October 28th Make up: November 2nd Pretest: Tuesday, January 11th, 6:00 – 7:00pm Session 2: January 18th – February 10th Make up: February 15th Fee: Resident: $400 Non Resident: $450 This program is a blended learning course, participants are required to do web based course work at home and meet for onsite skill sessions once a week. This program consists of instruction in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer (certification good for 2 years). Participants must be able to complete the Pre Course Skills test (bring a bathing suit and towel).
The skills required to take this course are as follows: 1. Swim 300 yards continuously using 100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breast stroke and 100 yards choice of freestyle or breast stroke. 2. Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breast stroke, surface dive to a depth of 11 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with both hands holding the object and exit the water without a ladder or steps within 1 minute and 40 seconds. 3. Tread water for 2 minutes using only legs. No refunds for this program. Any missed class will result in failure.
