Air New Zealand Air New Zealand’s story began in April 1940 when its forerunner airline, Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL) was incorporated. TEAL began its first trans-Tasman services with flying boats, and over the years steadily expanded the size and scope of its operations and the extent of its international network. The route network was expanded from Australia and the Pacific to Asia, the USA, the UK and Europe. In October 1953 TEAL became jointly owned by the New Zealand and Australian Governments, and in April 1961 the New Zealand Government assumed full ownership.

Napier A national disaster resulted in Napier becoming one of the purest Art Deco cities in the world. In 1931 a massive earthquake rocked Hawke’s Bay for more than three minutes, killing nearly 260 and destroying the commerical centre of Napier.

Rebuilding began almost immediately, and new buildings reflected the architectural styles of the times - Stripped Classical, Spanish Mission and Art Deco. Local architect Louis Hay, an admirer of the great Frank Lloyd Wright, had his chance to shine. Maori motifs were employed to give the city a unique New Zealand character - for example, the ASB bank on the corner of Hastings and Emerson Streets features Maori koru and zigzags.

Napier’s city centre has the feeling of a time capsule - the seamless line of 1930s architecture is quite extraordinary.

Gold Reserve Wine Tour - Full Day Private Sit back and relax on a day of delectable discovery as our expert guides whisk you away into the picturesque Hawke’s Bay countryside to visit 3 or 4 premium wineries that contribute to the region’s worldwide reputation for fine wine.

Perhaps we’ll begin tasting at a winery in pretty Havelock North or maybe the Dartmoor or Esk Valleys.

Then we head for the famous vineyards of the Gimblett Gravels west of Hastings and your guide will take you into a working vineyard and explain why this area is so sought after for grape-growing. The Grand Tour Of Hawke’s Bay - Full Day Private After we’ve collected you from your accommodation we’ll show you around central Napier. A huge earthquake in 1931 more or less razed the town to the ground. But from the ashes rose an Art Deco masterpiece. A living breathing testimony to the great architectural styles of the ‘30s and ‘40s. We’ll take you to the top of Bluff Hill which overlooks both the town and across the Bay towards Cape Kidnappers. The old port of Ahuriri is next, the first part of Napier settled by Europeans.

Then we turn our attention south of Napier and head into the fertile Heretaunga Plain and drive through the stunning Tuki Tuki River Valley before stopping for lunch at one of the regions’ many outstanding winery restaurants.

Leave a little space because our first stop of the afternoon is the home of New Zealand’s biggest honey producer where you can taste their range of exotic and native honey including the famous Manuka.

Then we climb (by vehicle) to the summit of Te Mata Peak which will afford us 360-degree views around the region and possibly all the way to Mt Ruapehu in the centre of the North Island.

A drive through the beautiful village of Havelock North is followed by a stop at the typical kind of artisan food producer that Hawke’s Bay is famous for. Maybe a mid-afternoon real-fruit ice cream or some delicious marinated olives instead?

The surprising Spanish Mission architecture of the region’s largest town, Hastings, is next together with a magical drive along the mile-long and historic Oak Avenue before we pull into a boutique chocolate producer hidden amongst vineyards and orchards.

Start the day with a cuppa and some home-baked morning tea before taking a walk down a country track through tall Eucalyptus trees where koalas snooze overhead or wake briefly for a feed. Travel through the Island’s most productive country to the north coast. Begin the day on the island’s north-west in an important private wildlife refuge with Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife. Fine Flavours - Private Charter Begin the day at Kangaroo Island Olives, where father and son duo, Michael and Dom, produce olives from a grove of 5000 trees. Our tailgate tasting includes both table olives and some of the delicious oils they produce.

The Kangaroo Island Oyster Farm Shop produces delicious Pacific Oysters in the calm waters of Eastern Cove. We will sample some oysters at a secluded picnic spot as an appetiser for our alfresco lunch, which features smoked meats, fresh salad and a selection of local beer and wines.

After lunch, we head to Clifford’s Honey Farm. Here we will gain an insight into honey production, including a tasting of a range of honey plus Jenny’s famous Honey Ice Cream! Our next stop is The Islander Estate Vineyards, where we sample their stunning range of french-style red and white varieties, created by Bordeaux winemaker Jacques Lurton.

End the day with a tasting at Kangaroo Island Spirits, who have won numerous awards globally (including New York and London) for their range of beautiful gins and liqueurs.

Kantju Gorge - Sunset Tour - Complimentary Signature Experience Departing Longitude 131° before sunset, guests will travel into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. As you drive around Uluru your guide will explain the World Heritage values, as well as the geology and tourism history of the region.

Field of Lights - Complimentary Signature Experience Artist Bruce Munro’s internationally acclaimed solar installation Field of Light has arrived at the Red Centre, offering visitors to the region a transformative experience of iconic Uluru-Kata Tjuta.

Bruce conceived the idea for the Field of Light while visiting Uluru in 1992, but it first materialised in 2004 at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. The work has since appeared in varying incarnations around the UK, in the US and Mexico.

The Field of Light at Uluru is the largest recreation of the installation, made up of 50,000 bud-like stems and crowned with radiant frosted-glass spheres, which bloom and appear to sway as darkness descends over Australia’s spiritual heartland. Pathways invite visitors into the artwork, which comes to life under a sky brilliant with stars.

Walpa Gorge - Sunrise Tour - Complimentary Signature Experience Departing Longitude 131° prior to sunrise, this experience heads to Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas and comprising 36 majestic domes. Along the way the tour will briefly visit the Kata Tjuta Viewing Area for another “postcard” photo opportunity, with expert commentary of the ecology, fire management, flora and fauna of the area.

We depart from your hotel and commence the first portion of the land tour. This in a great introduction to the icons of Sydney where we start our tour appropriately from the birth place of Australia, The Rocks. Here we learn about the settlement of Australia and the early days of life in Sydney. We weave around the back streets of The Rocks, under the Harbour Bridge and on to Walsh Bay. This is the recently developed theatre district of Sydney. En route to The Botanic Gardens we stop under the Harbour Bridge for a magnificent view back to The Sydney Opera House at Dawes Point. After some iconic shots we drive to The Botanical Gardens where the vista back to The Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Government House, Kirribilli House and Admiralty House our all within view. Following our drive around The Botanical Gardens we head to Woolloomooloo and into Kings Cross, the hub of Sydney nightlife. Our next suburb is Paddington. Known for its historical period terrace houses, fashionable laneways and art galleries. We make our way through some back streets of Paddington and into Woollahra. Summit Bridge Climb - 3.5 hr climb Bridge Climb: Absorb a 360 degree panorama of Sydney as you journey to the summit on our original Climb experience. Like an exposed spine, the outer rim delivers you to the peak, as the sky remains just beyond your outstretched fingertips.

The Journey: Latching on in the Climb Base below the Bradfield Highway, you will walk on catwalks below the road-deck until you reach the South-East Pylon. Here you will ascend 4 ladders to the start of the upper arch, surrounded by the hum and buzz of Sydney’s traffic. With the summit in your sight, your journey continues along the Bridge’s outer arch on the Opera House side until you hit the top. After a summit celebration with your group, you cross the spine of the Bridge to the Darling Harbour side to make your descent to our Climb Base.
