Queensland Futsal Champions Toowoomba Grammar School’s U15 Futsal team has been crowned the Southern Queensland Champions after an outstanding performance at the Queensland School Futsal Titles in Brisbane on Thursday, 26 August 2021. TGS played Kawana Waters State College, St Andrews Lutheran College and Mansfield SHS in the pool draw. The boys started a little slowly in the first game but gradually built momentum to finish on equal six points and reach the quarter finals. We took on Mt Gravatt and quickly built a strong lead and won the game comfortably.
and once again came out firing which resulted in a big lead early in the game and enabled us to rest players for the final. The grand final was against one of the most highly rated futsal schools in Australia, King’s Christian College. It was a very even and intense game. TGS played exceptionally well and had a 3-1 lead at halftime. King’s Christian College tried everything to get back into the game, but we held on to win 6-3. Year 10 player, Sewmith Samarawickrama was named MVP for TGS.

The boys now progress to the Champion of Champions tournament on the Gold Coast in November. This year’s format will be a little different as many of the interstate teams will be unable to attend due to COVID, but we’re confident of a great result and wish the team all the best.

Football Tour to Germany Ten boys were awarded scholarships to tour Germany with the Australian U19 soccer team, the Joeys, in an impressive achievement for Toowoomba Grammar School footballers. The players were among 36 male players (U14-U19) and 16 female players selected following their outstanding efforts at the Fraser Coast Joeys Mini World Cup Football Championships held from September 25 to October 4.

Year 12 student Luke Beutel was named U19 Player of the Tournament and awarded a full scholarship worth $7800.
