Plan

This year, the Board of Trustees and TGS Executive began producing a new Strategic Plan to outline the School’s direction for 2022 through 2026.

This is a very exciting time for Toowoomba Grammar School as this new Strategic Plan will continue the path of the School since its establishment 146 years ago. We’ve received invaluable input from our parents, students, staff, Old Boys, former Headmasters and members of the wider community. They’ve made it very clear that people are passionate about our School, the values it represents, the opportunities it provides and the fine young men it produces.

External Consultant, Kathy Carruthers has expertly supported the Board and Executives; she has extensive experience assisting schools and not-for-profit organisations in developing robust and well-informed strategic plans. The strategic planning process has been an opportunity to identify our strengths, areas for improvement and new opportunities, of which there are many. It is clear that students, both current and graduated, are proud of their School, and that their families value our broad, liberal education.

As we have worked through the planning process, it has been very apparent that history, tradition and connection are important while ensuring our School is fit for purpose in a modern educational landscape. Our future direction must be true to our essential character as an educational institution, and it should outline how we will most effectively achieve our vision. Our plan is aspirational but achievable. It positions TGS as a leading independent boys’ school in Australia and a significant national voice in boys’ education. The Strategic Plan will provide a clear focus for the School up to and including our 150th anniversary in 2025. This milestone year will be a time for all members of the TGS community to reflect and acknowledge the past whilst looking ahead to the future, and hopefully the next 150 years!

The Board and Executives look forward to sharing the Strategic Plan with the School Community in early 2022.
