Greenhorn

One of the most exciting aspects of being part of the TGS Army Cadet Unit is participating in the various excursions and bivouacs. In April, the troop braved the wet weather to conduct Exercise Greenhorn at Borneo Barracks, Cabarlah.

The recruits completed their field induction training, including surviving on ration packs, sleeping under the stars in hootchies and learning about basic military skills such as camouflage and concealment, field signals and military movements. Soldiers from the Borneo Barracks displayed various vehicles and equipment, including the Protective Motor Vehicle (PMV) and Man Truck. Cadets were allowed to try on the Soldier Combat Equipment (SCE).

Although the wet weather may have tested their resilience, all the cadets had a great time and found the camp challenging and rewarding.
