CAS dominates U-Week with Litmus ‘23 win by NICOLE BUCAYANI and RHYZA SION
The College of Arts and Science (CAS) shone the brightest and dominated as they bagged championship awards from different events during the Tertiary Literary Musical Competition held at the University Gymnasium, Nov. 16.

University Night 2023 illuminated a night of vibrant celebration, showcasing lively performances and a spectacular Foam and Powder Party, organized by the University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos Supreme Student Government Organization (UNORSSGO) at the University Amphitheater, Nov. 17.
The UNO-RHYTHM and the UnoRian DJ, Jericho Conlu, captivated and entertained the audience with a series of performances.
“University Night is exclusively dedicated to UNO-Rians, offering a collective opportunity to relish, have fun, and celebrate the festivities of University Week 2023,” UNORSSGO President Dustin Veridiano said.
Moreover, a diverse array of students from different organizations and various college departments enthusiastically participated in the event, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the party.
The evening’s itinerary included bands of lively music, followed by the energetic foam party and the immersive powder party experience.
“I’m attending this event to alleviate the stress caused by midterms and the preparations for University Week,“ Second-year Civil Engineering student Ruby Anne Novela shared.
“Our objective is to highlight the UNO-Rian community, and that’s precisely why we’ve orchestrated the University Night—to emphasize and celebrate the vitality of our community,” Veridiano shared.

“It [oration competition] challenged my will and confidence knowing I would be pitted against very talented individuals across various colleges,” Dungca said.
“The performances are not only good but also highly enjoyable,” Second-year Bachelor of Science Psychology Alexandra Dean shared.
Despite the rainy weather, the crowd stayed energized while singing and dancing along to the performances.

The most awaited musical competition began with the unveiling of College Teasers. College of Criminal Justice Education won first place, while the College of Engineering
secured second place, and CAMHS taking third place. CAS grabbed the Championship title from last year holder, CEN, in the Hiphop category as they cracked the custom hip hop grooves through romance and unique imagery with Arthur Miguel’s “Lihim”. During the Group Music Television Competition, the CAS deparment once again secured the championship as they displayed a remarkable impersonation of Beyonce’s “Run the World”. Moreover, the departments of CEN and CBA placed second and third, respectively.
