Thrilling UNO-Race flags off in U-Week ‘23

Armored with excellence in mental wits and skill, representatives from various college departments of the University of Negros OccidentalRecoletos participated in the UNORace during the second day of the University Week, held at different places around Bacolod City, Nov. 14.

“The UNO-Race is one of the activities this University Week [that will] showcase the physical and mental skills of the students as well as their teamwork as they complete the given challenges,” UNORSSGO Undersecretary Interior Jose Mari Dalisay said.

The race had seven stations, wherein each station had different challenges including solving math problems, reenacting of movie scenes, and doing TikTok with strangers which the players needed to complete before proceeding to the next level of the game.

“The experience [was] so fun, full of thrill, and at the same time we’ve learned something along the way,” UNO-Race participant Herold Renz Dorado said.

The race started from the University grounds, going to Bacolod City Government Center, Merzci Lopues East, Megaworld, Bacolod Public Plaza, Santa Monica Garden, and the UNO-Rides.

Moreover, winners for the UNORace competition were announced at the University Lobby last November 18.

Fr. Alaras also emphasized that UNO-Rians should also accept each other regardless of the age and status differences.

On the other hand, the University of Negros Occidental - Recoletos Supreme Student Government

Officer’s (UNORSSGO) Secretary of the Department of Religious Affairs Dicken May Guarra stated that “Taize” was a form of expressing appreciation to God for celebrating University Week 2023.

“As this is the first day of University Week, “Taize” allows us to place God at the center of everything by showing gratitude for the talents and skills that He had bestowed upon us,” Guarra expressed.

Moreover, Guarra highlighted that for events and activities to be successful, prayers and acknowledging God’s presence and blessings were essential.

Furthermore, the said event was led by UNORSSGO’s Department of Religious Affairs, in partnership with Campus Ministry Office, and religious organizations.
