11th District Clay Shoot Is Right on Target

The 11th Masonic District held the third annual sporting clay shoot at WR Hunt Club on Saturday, September 20, with great weather for the event and everyone having a great time. Four teams and 27 shooters competed for the trophy which went to the team from Toledo Fort Industry Lodge, consisting of Jim Krispin, Joe Krispin, Heath Garlick, and Ray Slates. The high overall shooter award went to Jim Krispin with a score of 38. Congratulations Jim! Of course, an event like this wouldn’t be possible without the loyal support of the sponsors, which included the Zenobia Shrine Divan, Champion Credit Union, Mike Burkett-CCW Instructor, Jack & Kyle Krispin, Merit House (John Stone), ABC Supply Co. (Mark Bowlick), Genoa Lodge #433, Northern Light lodge #40, Rubicon Lodge #237, and Toledo Fort Industry Lodge #144. A special thank you also goes to Champion Credit Union for printing the

programs and to the Zenobia Shrine for printing the station signage. Unfortunately, several of the shooters missed the clays and hit the signs.

An Important Piece of Consistory History Preserved for the Future

When Toledo Consistory came under dispensation by the Supreme Council in February of 2005, one member commemorated the occasion by presenting the new Masonic body with a magnificent banner. The benefactor was a prominent local businessman and Mason, Grafton M. Acklin. 33o, who had served as Illustrious Grand Master of Royal and Select Masons of Ohio the same year MWB Leander Burdick of Toledo served as Grand Master. Brother Acklin also served as Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, and went on serve as General Grand Master of the Grand Council U.S.A. Over the years (it will be 110 years in February), time began to take its toll on this important piece of local and Masonic history. Now, we’re happy to say that this treasure has been fully restored to its original glory, and hangs in the offices of the Valley of Toledo on Sophia Street in Maumee, where members are welcome to stop by and see it. It is our sincere hope and fervent prayer that this beautiful banner may proudly lead new generations of Scottish Rite Masons for another century, and more.
