MAYOR'S MESSAGE: As mayor, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Arts Center! Although the Arts Center is still a relatively new addition to our downtown landscape, it has undoubtedly become the place to be for great entertainment. Whether it's talent from our own community or great performances from around the country and the world, the Arts Center is the place to go. This upcoming season features performers from the Triangle as well as performers from Tanzania; instrumental music, comedy, and amazing magic. So if you're looking for energy, passion for the arts, and exciting offerings, there is truly something for everyone at the Fuquay-Varina Arts Center.

Morrie was Mitch’s sociology professor, but he was also his mentor, his advisor, and his life coach. Now Mitch is a busy sportswriter with a frantic schedule and a troubled marriage, and Morrie is dying.

One visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a course in the meaning of life. The beloved book comes to life in this life-affirming play, full of compassion, humor, and hope.

NEUSE RIVER BIG BAND SEPTEMBER 2 2022, 7:30PM ALL SEATS $10

Comprised of many talented and accomplished adult musicians from the Triangle Area, the Neuse River Big Band was established in 2019, and is dedicated to preserving the sounds and styles of the Big Band Era. We perform hits of the Count Basie Orchestra, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Elgart Brothers, Duke Ellington and more. We also play contemporary jazz and pop arrangements, so we appeal to multiple generations of live music enthusiasts. We’re all about carrying on the Big Band Tradition while making it a fun experience for the band AND the audience!

MARCUS ANDERSON

SEPTEMBER 23, 2022, 7:30PM $20/ADULTS; $18/SRS & STUDENTS One of the premiere saxophonists in the world, Marcus Anderson is not only a sought after solo artist with eight albums to date, but he also performs for audiences all over the world, accompanying other great musicians such as CeeLo Green and Judith Hill. He is also known as a featured saxophonist with the late Prince and the New Power Generation. In addition to playing sax and flute, Marcus plays piano and bass; he is a singer, writer, choreographer, producer and horn arranger. His talent is undeniable.

MARK NIZER

OCTOBER 8, 2022, 2:00PM $15/ADULTS; $12/SRS & STUDENTS Get ready to be blown away. This 90 minute performance makes the impossible possible and the improbable probable. Mark Nizer has taken his one man show to a Kid/Family variety of venues around the world Series including the Kennedy Center, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, thousands of college campuses, all major cruise lines, Comic Strip Live and Caroline's Comedy Hour. He won 1st place in the international Juggling Championship and has won Comedy Entertainer of the Year.

THE STRANGER--

BILLY JOEL TRIBUTE

OCTOBER 14, 2022, 7:30PM $30/ADULTS; $25/SRS & STUDENTS Formed by lead vocalist Mike Santoro, The Stranger is recognized as one of the best and most entertaining tribute bands around. The Stranger is an authentic tribute to the legendary Billy Joel.

Mike’s obsession with accuracy and tonality and his faithful recreation of every song is what has helped drive the band to the national level it has reached. After meeting and talking together, Billy Joel thanked Mike "....for keeping my music alive”.

CHICAGO DANCE CRASH

OCTOBER 29, 2022, 7:30PM $24/ADULTS; $20/SRS & STUDENTS This award-winning dance company, led by artistic director Jessica Deahr, emphasizes a unique mission of both athleticism and accessibility. A two-time winner of the Black Theater Alliance Award for Choreography, Crash was recognized for creating "The Most Inventive New Work" of 2017 by Dance Magazine and hailed by Newcity Stage as one of the top dance companies to emerge since the year 2000. SUGAR SKULL MUSICAL ADVENTURE

NOVEMBER 4, 2022, 7:30PM $14/ADULTS;$12/SRS & STUDENTS Sugar Skull is a touring bilingual/bicultural musical for young audiences and families that uses traditional regional music and dance from Mexico to tell the story of twelve-year-old Vita Flores. Vita thinks her family has gone loco planning a celebration for deceased loved ones. Why throw a party for the dead? But when a spirited candy skeleton suddenly springs to life, Vita finds herself on a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de Muertos.

Enjoy the heart and-soul, rhythm-and-blues, feel-good music of The Embers. Featuring Kid/Family lead singer and front man Craig Series Woolard, The Embers are known as the pre-eminent beach music band in the Carolinas. Having performed all over the world, they are bringing their beloved Christmas show back to Fuquay Varina for a special kickoff to the holiday Season. There are many bands or groups today, yet few that are considered a musical institution. The Embers have solidified their position as a thriving musical entity leaving their mark on listeners for decades.
