These temporary positions all sit within the Test and Trace team, comprising three different teams: •

Safety, Health & Environment Manager Salary:£43,662.00 - £45,591.00 37 hours per week but suitable for job share (salary per annum, pro rata) An opportunity has arisen for a Safety, Health & Environment Manager to lead an experienced team committed to providing a high standard health and safety service (including fire safety) for GCC directorates and to schools plus some external customers. You will be responsible for driving the corporate health and safety programme and reviewing and monitoring compliance. The team is well established but there is scope for taking it to its next stage of development. As the successful candidate you will have: • proven leadership, organisational and general management skills; • a strong customer service ethos and aptitude for the Traded Services aspects of the role; • demonstrable competence across the range of services offered by the team; • good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both in written form and verbally; • ability to work effectively with stakeholders and at various levels in the Council and with regional safety groups. Two other key aspects that you will manage are: • providing a traded service to schools encompassing material to enable risks to be managed, ad hoc advice, site visits, off-site visits support, audits, fire risk assessments and a limited range of training; and • discharging the Council’s responsibilities for sports grounds including Safety Advisory Groups, safety certificates and monitoring compliance. The team is well established and competent but there is scope for taking it to its next stage of development in conjunction with the directors and organisational needs set against the new ways of working in a post-Covid-19 workplace. Development of smarter ways of working and bolstering training will be two such initiatives to sustain a high output workplan whilst maintaining attention to detail, customer service and income. You will be qualified to NVQ Level 4 (NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent) and NEBOSH Environmental Diploma or equivalent; a fire safety qualification would be desirable.
