WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEER DRIVERS TO UNDERTAKE TRIPS TO LOCAL HEALTHCARE CENTRES

Transport for Sick Children is a charity based in Greater Manchester. Our volunteer drivers use their own cars to take accompanied children with no other means of transport to hospital and clinic appointments.

Could you be one of our amazing network of volunteer drivers?

‘I find the role really rewarding. I meet some really nice families and feel at the end of each drive that I have made a difference to that family and to the wider local community as a whole. Also the support given by the office team and other drivers means you never feel isolated and they are always on hand to support you when the need arises. Having volunteered for a few local charities since I retired, Transport for Sick Children is by far the most rewarding by a long way’ John Kirkham, Volunteer driver

Interested in becoming a volunteer?

Our volunteer drivers (who are all DBS checked for their suitability to work with children) use their own cars to collect the child and carer and take them to the appointment then wait and bring them home. Drivers decide how much time they want to give, child car seats are supplied and petrol costs are reimbursed on a monthly basis.

It’s really worthwhile and is so appreciated by the children, their families and the NHS.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please visit our website or give Laura or Marie-Anne a call on 0161 443 4122 www.transportforsickchildren.org/volunteers/

Salary: £43,784 - £46,302 per annum (Mgt Spine Points 4 to 6)

University Centre Somerset (UCS) is a high-quality Centre of Higher Education, part of Bridgwater & Taunton College. UCS and the College have an excellent record for the delivery of HE programmes working with a number of valued partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). UCS is at an exciting and pivotal point in its future as we move towards our strategic priority of transforming Somerset through University Education.

This key role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced HE Manager to support our ambition for UCS, to take it to the next level in university education.

The post holder will be a key role within UCS, working with exceptional colleagues within the central HE Team and wider College, to maintain and support further development in the quality assurance processes and governance systems for HE, in line with OfS and HEI requirements, as well as IfATE and Ofsted requirements in relation to HE apprenticeships. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide a key role, working with the Dean in a stimulating and rewarding environment, based in the heart of Somerset.

This post will provide informed support on the further development of UCS as it works to gain degree awarding powers (BDAP), and provide advice and guidance to academic managers and staff within the wider college through the faculties of: Health, Wellbeing and Education; Digital Innovation, Engineering and Clean Energy; Business and Creative Industries; Agriculture, Environmental Management and Ecology, delivering ‘Degrees for Real Life’.

The realising of the vision for UCS has started with Bridgwater & Taunton College, becoming the first FE college to gain the consent of both the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and its university partner, University of the West of England (UWE) to deliver nursing degrees locally and in its own right. The College was also the first FE College to be invited and accepted into the Council of Deans of Health as an Associate Member, and now sits alongside university healthcare faculties at the heart of policy and political debate. In addition, the College has become the Further Education representative on NHS England’s South West Region Nursing and Midwifery Supply Board, actively contributing to removing barriers to health careers. Most recently the College was awarding the Queens Anniversary Prize for the collaborative work with the NHS and UWE to create this ground breaking approach.

UCS has a key role in the delivery of Degree Apprenticeships across the Nuclear sector through the National College for Nuclear (NCfN), also in association with our university partner UWE. Staff from the NCfN recently presented at an international conference through UCS research and scholarship support.

We are looking for a detail-focused individual, who will provide highly effective management and in-depth knowledge and experience within HE, working with the OfS and partner HEIs.

The successful post-holder will have experience in preparing documentation, understanding data and working to support the drive for continuous quality improvement and enhancement.

UCS is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
