Natural Environment Officer

Bristol City Council are recruiting for a highly motivated and experienced individual to help the council ensure positive approaches to ecology are embedded in place-based projects. These will include responding to large regeneration initiatives as well as individual sites at a range of scales going through the planning process.

The Nature Conservation role is part of the Urban Design Team, within the Planning Service. This role would suit a professional with experience of ecology, land-use planning or green infrastructure.

You will contribute positively to the City Council’s corporate efforts to promote and increase biodiversity, ecological recovery and green infrastructure for the benefit of people, nature and prosperity of the city.

Key elements of the role will be to:

• Work with colleagues to support the Ecological Emergency Action Plan, the development of a Green and Blue Infrastructure Strategy, the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain and broader Nature Recovery

• Provide high quality and timely ecological advice to officers, councillors, developers and their advisors, members of the public and community groups having regard to relevant legislation, planning policy, guidance, standards and best practice

• Present training and briefings to officers, senior managers and politicians as and when required

• Work in partnership with colleagues and external stake holders to promote and maximise the ecological benefits of a holistic place-based approach to growth and regeneration

Cathedral Parish Operations Manager

The post holder will play a key role in establishing the operational infrastructure necessary to support the running of a wide range of activities at Leeds Cathedral, Cathedral House, Wheeler Hall, Holy Rosary Church and the newly refurbished Holy Rosary Community Room.

Cathedral Parish Operations Manager

The post holder will play a key role in establishing the operational infrastructure necessary to support the running of a wide range of activities at Leeds Cathedral, Cathedral House, Wheeler Hall, Holy Rosary Church and the newly refurbished Holy Rosary Community Room.

This is a new role which recognises the evolving demands of parish life and the advantages of introducing lay involvement in the operational management of our parish structure. The Parish of Mother of Unfailing Help, which comprises Leeds Cathedral and the Church of the Holy Rosary, Chapeltown, is looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced office administrator, to support the Dean of the Cathedral and Operations Manager with the running of this busy Cathedral Parish. This is a part-time role which will include some evening and weekend work. For the right applicant, there may be the possibility to combine it with the post of Cathedral Operations Manager which is also being advertised.

Working to the Dean of the Cathedral and the Operations Manager, the post holder will have their own workload and also be required to work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of a wide range of parish and diocesan events which take place at the Cathedral, Cathedral House, Wheeler Hall, Holy Rosary Church and Holy Rosary Community Room. The role has a particular focus on the day-to-day administration of the Parish, including parish finances, administration associated with the Sacramental Programmes and management of bookings for both Wheeler Hall and the newly refurbished Holy Rosary Community Room.

The primary location of work will be Leeds Cathedral, which as well as being the Mother Church of the Diocese of Leeds, is home to the celebrated Diocese of Leeds School Singing Programme and Keyboard Studies Programme. This makes the Cathedral a particularly busy and often musical place to work!
