QVSR is The Seafarer’s Mission of the Methodist Church and provides welfare support in ports across the UK – Bristol, Felixstowe, Tilbury, and Immingham as well as providing welfare support and accommodation to retired seafarers in its mission building in the east end of London. The charity has been supporting seafarers since 1843.

QVSR assumed responsibility for the Immingham Seafarers Centre in July 2022 and as part of our ongoing development we are seeking to appoint a Port Chaplain. This post will look after the day-to-day needs of seafarers visiting the Port and will be a key link between the Town of Immingham and QVSR’s work in the Port.

About the role:

You will be a key member of the Fleet services workshop team based in Newtown, working with the team to Inspect, repair and maintain a wide variety of vehicles, trailers and equipment to more than DVSA minimum standards.

The role is based at our workshop in Newtown, but you maybe required to work on-site.

You will also form part of the workshops winter standby rota, being on call to attend any out of hours breakdowns. (approx. 1 week in 4).

About you:

• Experience in a commercial workshop

• HGV licence (Desirable but not essential)

QVSR is The Seafarer’s Mission of the Methodist Church and provides welfare support in ports across the UK – Bristol, Felixstowe, Tilbury, and Immingham as well as providing welfare support and accommodation to retired seafarers in its mission building in the east end of London. You will be expected to participate in an alarm and weekend duty rota and be prepared to work flexible hours should the needs arise.

Plant Performance Manager

Purpose:

To work in partnership with Customer Management, supported by ESS Head Office Management, to achieve targets.

• Manage all Health & Safety matters in the maintenance team, including but not limited to:

• Ensure that all ESS Ltd. employees work in a safe and responsible manner and adhere to on site safety regulations and procedures.

• Issuing ‘Permits-to-Work’

• Conducting Risk Assessments on own and team’s work

• Inducting the team in routine health and safety training such as:

• Lock Out / Tag Out, Permits system, PPE compliance, Accident Reporting.

• Carrying out PPE audits of the team.

• Focus on maintaining plant efficiency within the allocated budget.

• Be pro-active in seeking ways to improve plant performance.

• Motivate and lead the maintenance team to achieve their targets.

• Ensure that all employees are aware that the priority is to keep the plant running efficiently.

• Any extra work including special projects must be delegated to others and must not interfere with the day to day plant cover of the core team.

• Completion of PM’S is a fundamental requirement and must be managed and monitored by the Supervisor.

• The Supervisor must be available for on site meetings with Management and offer input to help improve efficiencies.

• Monitor the time and attendance of all ESS Ltd. employees.

• Deal with IR issues relating to ESS Ltd. personnel.

• Meet on a fortnightly basis with ESS Ltd. Management and provide a regular weekly report on the previous week’s activities.

Person Specification:

• Trades qualification - Electrical and relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

• Experience with modern maintenance management methods and techniques.

• Experienced in managing a maintenance team of not less than 5 personnel. With responsibility for Health & Safety (typical tasks as listed above) plus motivating, influencing, coaching the team on day to day technical and operations matters. Proven ability to deal with employee relations / disciplinary matters within the team.

• High speed/High Volume background. Ideally experience in Food/Beverage manufacturing processes

• Multi-skilled / cross-skilled ethos

• Aptitude for process awareness, PLC control equipment and diagnostic / trouble-shooting experience gained in a Hi-volume environment.

• Good team player that can use their initiative and communicate well with people and build work relationships.

• Responsible and positive person who embraces change and takes ownership for their team and plant.

• Computer skills essential

• Familiar with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems, ideally Maximo.

• COSHH awareness in a food safe environment an advantage.

Bradford is currently on a journey of change delivering the ambitious outcomes of our Council Plan 2021-25. It is building on some of the same priorities as the 2016-20 plan but is also looking to address some new major challenges that the district will face in the coming years. To support us in achieving this, we are looking to recruit a highly motivated Senior Finance Officer who will play an important role in ensuring we remain a well-run Council, using all our resources wisely to deliver its priorities.

The role will assist finance in exercising its control and support function, in particular, providing key support in the production of the Statement of Accounts, Government Returns, and managing and responding to audit queries, including other ad hoc duties as when required. In return, there will be generous training and development opportunities on offer.

The roles we are seeking to recruit will require strong technical accounting, systems control, monitoring, and communication skills. It is essential that you have relevant experience working in a financial environment, in a complex organisation.

You should be qualified AAT or have an equivalent professional qualification, with practical experience of financial services, or be demonstrably qualified by experience. Local Government experience, whilst preferential, is not essential for this role.

The potential postholder will be encouraged to undertake available training via the apprenticeship scheme, for example, CIPFA or equivalent.
