With the legislation changes in catering, this post is essential in ensuring the safety of food across the services. You will need a breadth of understanding nutrition and allergens, including legislation requirements, You will be responsible for 5 Operational Managers with 450 members of staff in the catering team, so it is essential that you have experience of managing large teams. At Atkinson Secure Children's Home, we have been consistently rated as good by Ofsted in providing a safe therapeutic home for young people from around the country who are at risk to themselves and others. You would head up the education provision offering a bespoke, varied and exciting curriculum to prepare the young people for their next stage. You would work very closely with the care and health teams ensuring a holistic approach in the support of the young people.
This is a two-year temporary post to be part of the Supported Housing Improvement Programme (SHIP). SHIP aims to investigate the overall quality of supported housing within Bradford District, including the value for money of supported schemes, the quality of accommodation, the nature and quality of the support offered to resident, and the outcomes delivered by those schemes. It also aims to develop a quality scheme for providers, and to take appropriate action against providers that do not meet the requirements of the Housing Benefit regulations or the Housing health and safety rating system (HHSRS) You will be working alongside colleagues from housing benefits, housing options and housing standards. Your role will be to assess providers for quality of support, inspecting their records and interviewing residents to gain their views. Providers will be able to join a quality scheme and seek help and advice from you if they have issues regarding the quality of support. You will also follow up on reports such as anti-social behaviour associated with the residents of a particular scheme or premises, which may be evidence of poor quality support. An understanding of the needs of people who have difficulties managing in ordinary housing and how those needs should be met, and an eye for detail are essential to the role. An understanding of systems used for assessing individual progress would be advantageous – this could be from any area eg early years, education or support for adults.
