Director of Finance and Operations

Salary PO5 (pt 44 – 47) £53,529 to £56,795 per annum 26 days Holiday (increasing to 31 days after 5 years’ service), plus bank holidays 37 hours per week ‐ Full year

Job start: As soon as possible

Due to the retirement of the existing post‐holder, this is an exciting opportunity leading financial planning, budgeting and whole school operation, including site and catering teams in an 11‐18 school that is clearly on the ‘up’ with:

• Recent significant building works with two three storey buildings – Performing Arts and Humanities blocks – each £3 million. The school continuing to be a popular, oversubscribed school, which is well considered in the local community. MAT expansion being a serious consideration – a further opportunity for this role.

We need someone who is strategic, writes and keeps plans within budget and is at times prepared to ‘get’ dirty to ensure the job gets done. In my opinion the strategic vision needs to occur in the following areas:

• Financial oversight – of salary costs/savings, a plan for IT/site development that is transparent, considered, costed and above all, balanced, realistic and represents effective use of public funds. Site development/maintenance needs to be coordinated and planned. An audit of the extensive stored stock, a painting programme, a consideration of our ‘flat roofs’, guttering maintenance has to be ongoing with consideration of how we can save money through installing solar panels and LED installation. Meet the needs of health and safety and the laws that are required in running a twenty first century school. A programme of PAT testing, fire risk assessment/practice, water/electrical management etc are the basic requirements. Create funding either by site letting, challenging contracts or by being successful in external bidding.

Please look at our informative website https://christopherwhitehead.co.uk/ for further information and an application pack, together with the headteacher’s blog https://neilmorriscwlc.wordpress.com/

Please email your completed application form to recruitment@cwlc.email. Please do not send a CV. Informal visit of the school being held on Tuesday 6th June 2023.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 10.00am on Monday 12th June 2023.
