Penbridge School is seeking to appoint a highly effective and inspirational Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership team. You will have a proven track record in leadership with a passion for promoting the highest standards of teaching coupled with the expertise to lead and provide effective professional development. You will be a strategic thinker who can shape and implement our vision, raising standards and outcomes for all. This role does not come with class‐based responsibility however you will be required to teach occasionally during the week.

At Atkinson Secure Children's Home, we have been consistently rated as good by Ofsted in providing a safe therapeutic home for young people from around the country who are at risk to themselves and others. You would head up the education provision offering a bespoke, varied and exciting curriculum to prepare the young people for their next stage. You would work very closely with the care and health teams ensuring a holistic approach in the support of the young people. Many of our young people have experienced significant trauma in their lives. Our home provides a positive, safe environment in which young people can thrive and build in confidence and self-esteem. All staff are trained in attachment theories and the trauma recovery model, and all interventions are psychologically informed. We work restoratively to help young people repair relationships and manage conflict. Primary purpose of the job: • To provide professional leadership for Atkinson Secure Children’s Home Education provision, building on previous successes, continuing improvement, raising standards of learning and ensuring young people achieve worthwhile goals; • The Head of Education is responsible for providing a bespoke, young person-centred curriculum delivered within a safe, therapeutic learning environment; • To manage and lead education staff within the Atkinson Secure Children’s home, ensuring they are equipped to deliver a meaningful education to the young people through effective training and resourcing; • To liaise with the Care and Health teams within the home to promote a strong, collegiate approach within all staff; • To undertake the professional duties and responsibilities of a Teacher as set out in the current School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document when undertaking any teaching duties.

Salary: £37,582 - £42,185 depending on experience Full-time / Permanent Are you an experienced SEND teacher and a competent manager?
