Strategic Tree Lead Salary: £43,570 - £47,665 per annum Newcastle City Council has a proud track record at the forefront of municipal arboriculture. In recognition of the increasingly important role trees play in the city, Newcastle has recently updated its Tree Policy and is setting a new strategic direction for the urban forest. In support of this transition, the council is seeking to appoint an experienced technical and strategic lead to champion its trees and manage a team of arboricultural staff and services. This is a new and exciting role within the organisation, which brings together all aspects of arboricultural decision making as well as both internal and external advisory services. It is therefore an exciting opportunity to genuinely steer the growth and development of a significant and growing urban forest at a time of rapidly evolving priorities, resources and demands. The role requires an individual with broad technical expertise, excellent collaboration skills, and a bold long-term vision for the urban forest and the benefits it can provide. The successful candidate will also work alongside our new Community Forest Team to seek and develop opportunities for further developing the city’s tree stock. For an informal discussion about this post please contact David Hall, Assistant Director on tel 07490732090.
