The Senior Service Manager (SSM) in Asset Management and Maintenance Division lead on the operational delivery of the Capital Works Programme. This includes capital work programmes including kitchen and bathroom replacements, windows, doors, gas installs and electrical works etc. You will also be responsible for the management of a number of stand-alone major projects of significant value. The SSM will ensure the contractors perform to a high quality standard, within an agreed budget and on time. The Capital Works contract is outsourced to 3 private contractors and operates alongside a repairs and maintenance contract. Birmingham City council are responsible for over 61,000 properties and our repairs contractors work with the council to repair and maintain these properties together with the Capital works. The SSM is responsible for a team of managers who in turn manage qualified gas and building inspectors who have responsibility to inspect works on site to ensure contractors carry out all works in accordance with Building Regulations, Building Control, Safety Standards / Risk Assessments, and ensure Construction Design & Managements (CDMs) are achieved and maintained. We need to recruit a suitably qualified person with the appropriate skills to manage a team of technical and administrative staff. Environmental Health Team Leader Full Time – 37 hours Fixed term ending 31st March 2023 Grade 12 (SCP 38-40), £35,745 - £37,890 per annum You will be working within a team of officers that undertake a wide range of duties including the investigation and control of noise, pollution and statutory nuisances, inspection of permitted processes and contaminated land and private sector housing enforcement as well as consultations in relation to licensed premises and planning applications and enforcement of standards at caravan sites. The opportunity to assist with other Environmental Health functions relating to commercial properties and infectious diseases may also occur.

You will be responsible for a varied caseload across the disciplines covered by the Residential Services Team. This will include investigation of nuisance complaints, planning consultation responses and investigation of housing disrepair.
