Ou desafiaste a chuva e a trovoada, ou o apelo de uma noite quente de Verão, em nome dos Toastmasters... Ou estás a organizar uma grande conferência, como os membros do Algarve Toastmasters Club!

Yes… You’re the best! In Toastmasters we know the importance of recognition, we should assume that! We know the importance of looking to each others and recognize the potential,

Sermos capazes de olharmos uns para os outros, identificarmos o potencial, a entrega, a disponibilidade e reconhecer! Às vezes somos muito exigentes com quem está ao lado, pensamos que podia ter feito mais, esquecemos o que é dado e concentramos-nos no que falta dar... mas todos em algum momento, saímos de casa e nos encontrámos ali... com vontade de aprender, de partilhar, e com a humildade de reconhecer que podemos sempre melhorar!

E por vezes somos mesmo surpreendidos… Pensamos que já sabemos uma fórmula da comunicação eficaz para dominar o improviso, ou que dominamos determinada técnica para liderar... negociação e gestão de conflitos? "São favas contadas". E alguém, de repente, surpreende-nos e diz-nos algo que nos permite melhorar! A verdade é que ao ver tantos Toastmasters juntos todas as semanas, nos clubes, em eventos especiais, em sítios inusitados, aos fins-de-semana, nos concursos de Área, a organizar grandes conferências, sempre com uma capacidade de mobilização e organização incrível, não posso deixar de sentir um grande orgulho por fazer parte desta equipa!
people by our side, we think that they could have done more and we forget what meet there… with a strong desire to learn, share and recognize that we can always do better! Sometimes we are surprised… We think that we have a “magic formula” to communicate or to master the improvisation, or that we master negotiation and conflicts management? “Piece of cake”. But then, somebody surprises us and tell us something that help us doing it even better! The truth is that so many Toastmasters together, every week in their clubs, special events, weekends, contests and conferences, always with an incredible organization and mobilization, make me feel proud to belong to this team! So, with humility and always sure that together we can continue to learn and improve, we can proudly say: we are the best! Next November 1st we will be in Algarve to support our contestants, choose our representant to Lyon and, together, celebrate our conquests. I count on you! See you soon.

Distinguished Club Program (DCP) Como funciona o DCP? _Rosana Silva
O
que é? DCP é o programa de reconhecimento dos clubes que, num ambiente positivo e de suporte, ajudam os seus membros a serem melhores comunicadores e
melhores líderes. O programa é composto por 10 objetivos a serem atingidos ao longo de um ano Toastmasters (de 1 de Julho a 30 de Junho). Requisitos No sentido de serem considerados para efeitos de DCP, os clubes têm de ter 20 membros ou um crescimento líquido de pelo menos 5 novos membros até 30 de Junho. Exceção: membros charter e membros transferidos de outros clubes.
Descrição Os objetivos estão distribuídos em 4 áreas: educação, membros, formação e administrativa. 1. Educação: membros que têm a oportunidade de atingir awards, atingem os seus objetivos. 2. Membros: com mais membros, a experiência é mais rica e as sessões são mais variadas. O interesse dos membros é mantido. 3. Formação: com formação, os officers do clube estão aptos a servir melhor o clube. 4. Administrativa: o cumprimento dos deveres administrativos também beneficia os membros. Objetivos 1. O clube atinge o 1º objetivo quando 2 membros recebem o award CC durante o ano Toastmasters. 2. O clube atinge o 2º objetivo quando mais 2 membros atingem o award CC. 3. O clube atinge o 3º objetivo quando um membro atinge o AC (ACB, ACS ou ACG) durante o ano Toastmasters. … até ao objetivo 10, tal como ilustrado no esquema da página 5.
[ What is? DCP is the program developed to recognize the clubs that help their members being better communicators and leaders. The program is composed by 10 objectives that have to be accomplished during a Toastmasters year (July 1st to June 30th). Requisites: To be a DCP, clubs need more than 20 members or an effective increase of 5 members until June 30th. Exception are the charter members and the members transfered from other clubs. Description: The objectives consider 4 areas: education, members, formation and administration. 1) Education – members that have the chance to achieve awards, have the chance to achieve their objectives. 2) Members – with more members the experience is richer and the sessions have more variety. 3) Formation – when officers are trained, they are able to serve better. 4) Administration – the fulfillment of administrative tasks benefits the members. Objectives: 1) The club achieve the 1st objective when 2 members receive a CC award 2) The club achieve the 2nd objective when more 2 members receive a CC award 3) The club achieve the 3rd objective when a member receive a AC (ACB, ACS or ACG) … Until objective 10, as we can see in the figure of page 5.

O acesso aos relatórios ajudará a manter o foco para atingir o reconhecimento DCP. Clubes com qualidade geram maior oportunidade de cada membro desenvolver as competências de comunicação e de liderança. Sessões com qualidade geram clubes de sucesso. s renovações são uma prova de fogo para todos os clubes, sejam estes experientes, jovens ou prospect. Todos os anos temos membros que, embora entusiasmados com o conceito, deixam de poder frequentar o seu clube.
É por isso necessário encontrar novos membros e criar oportunidades de liderança para os actuais. Vamos pegar na base comum de criação de clubes que referimos na edição passada, na fase fortalecer o clube, e do impacto positivo da interação com membros de outros clubes.

Este é um verdadeiro trabalho de equipa que ultrapassa facilmente as fronteiras dos clubes e áreas. Ajudar um clube que está na fase de “infância” pode ser bastante útil e enriquecedor, tanto para o Toastmaster visitante como para o jovem clube. Fazer discursos, avaliações ou um Learning Moment fora do clube de origem é também um desafio, é sair da sua própria zona de conforto, um voltar às origens de quando iniciámos o nosso percurso Toastmasters e não conhecíamos a audiência. O clube que queremos ajudar fica longe? E se for por (vídeo)conferência? Já experimentei e aprendi muito com os clubes com quem tive a oportunidade de interagir neste formato, não tão habitual no Toastmasters, mas já quase habitual na vida profissional de muitos de nós. Experimentem e enviem-me as vossas ideias e comentários. Tenho dois desafios para vos deixar hoje. 1) Escolham um clube jovem ou prospect e ofereçam-se para partilhar a vossa experiência, se possível com a apresentação de um dos Learnings Moments do “The Successful Club Series”, ou outra função que seja útil ao clube. 2) Pensem num símbolo associado ao vosso clube e que possa ser facilmente impresso numa folha A4 e distribuído aos membros que visitem outros clubes.
[Renewals are a hard challenge for every club, no matter if it is an experient, young or prospect club. Every year members, although enthusiastic about the concept, have to leave clubs because of different reasons. Therefore, it is necessary to find new members and create the necessary opportunities to leadership for active members. Let’s consider what was said in last edition and focus in the point related with club strengthening and the positive impacts of interaction between members of different clubs. Make a speech, an evaluation or a Learning Moment in other club it’s a good way to step out of the comfort zone and return to the roots, when we started to speak to an audience that we didn’t knew. The club that we want to help is too faraway? Try a (video)conference. I tried it once and learned a lot with the clubs that I had the chance to interact in this way, not so common in Toastmasters, but almost usual in our professional lives. Try it and give me your feedback. uando somos jovens, temos amanhãs triunfantes” - Víctor Hugo, escritor francês
Youth Leadership Program nas escolas portuguesas! O início do ano letivo continua a dar que falar… com boas notícias! A escola Pátio da Inês, na Marinha Grande, aposta neste programa para os seus alunos do 4º ano, depois de uma experiência positiva e enriquecedora no ano anterior. No norte do país há várias escolas interessadas em avançar com esta iniciativa. Acreditamos que em breve teremos mais detalhes para divulgar. No sul do país os contatos intensificamse e aguardamos que nos dêem luz verde para avançar. Há quem defenda que o estudo da história tem sido o estudo dos líderes e no Youth Leadership Program desenvolve-se a componente de liderança, espírito de grupo, resolução de conflitos, entre outras características. A curiosidade já ultrapassou as fronteiras nacionais e, de outros países da Europa, têm chegado pedidos para divulgar este conceito, de forma a que possa ser conhecido e implementado em várias escolas do Distrito.

At Pátio da Inês school, in Marinha Grande, this program is being adopted and students from the 4th year are having a positive and rich experience, as it happened last year. In North, we have many schools interested in move on towards the implementation of this program. We believe that soon we will have more details. In South, the contacts are intensifying and we are waiting for green light to start. Some people believe that the study of history has been the study of leaders. In the Youth Leadership Program we develop leadership, team spirit, conflict resolution and other things. The curiosity crossed borders and other European countries asked us to disseminate this concept, so it could be implemented in schools from countries that belong to our District. Learn by doing it’s something that we, in Toastmasters, know. That’s exactly what is going on here. Youth Leadership Program… Preparing new leaders! Do you want to take part of this team? Check in your club or with your Area Governor who is available to implement this in a school nearby!

Toastmasters nas Universidades Participação nas Palestras da Forum Estudante _Daniel Sequeira

abias que existe uma parceria entre os Toastmasters e a Revista Fórum Estudante que visa levar o Toastmasters e a arte de aprender a falar em público a 20 universidades e politécnicos em Portugal?
É verdade. Pois bem, a iniciativa teve resultados práticos que começaram em Abril e está inserida no evento Job Party, organizada anualmente pela entidade parceira, na qual num período de uma manhã ou de um dia inteiro, visa fornecer aos jovens universitários ferramentas para os potenciar no mercado de trabalho: currículos, procura e entrevistas de emprego... e falar em público. O Toastmasters tem o compromisso de ajudar estes jovens a comunicar melhor, explicando como fazer uma apresentação standard de 45 minutos, como tornar eficiente o uso do powerpoint ou até alertando para o poder de uma boa introdução. As apresentações irão decorrer até Dezembro e podes ir consultando o calendário na contracapa das próximas edições da Magazine. Se quiseres participar e falar, contacta o Presidente do teu clube ou o Area Governor correspondente.

Este ano a Divisão D decidiu retomar o Programa Promover a Avaliação (Evaluation Enhancement em inglês). Com este projeto, queremos valorizar ainda mais os momentos de avaliação, desenvolvendo ferramentas, guias, materiais adaptados à realidade portuguesa e que possam facilmente ser usados por qualquer membro de qualquer clube. São os momentos de avaliação que distinguem os clubes Toastmasters de quaisquer outros eventos de public speaking. E é esse momento que cada clube deve cuidar como se fosse o seu maior tesouro.
This year the Division D decided to resume the Evaluation Enhancement Program. With this project, we want to bring even more value to the evaluation segment, by developing tools, guides, and materials adapted to the Portuguese reality which could be easily used by any member of any club. It is the evaluation that distinguishes Toastmasters Clubs from other public speaking events. And that moment must be cherished by every club as its greatest treasure.

omo muitos, também eu me lembro da primeira sessão Toastmasters que assisti no OTC. Lembro-me vagamente dos discursos, das pessoas que estavam presentes… O que nunca mais esqueci foi o que senti no momento em que ouvi
as avaliações dos discursos. Surpresa, admiração, incredulidade. “Isto é sempre assim?”, não parei de perguntar durante o resto da sessão. Sei que foi a vontade de responder a essa questão que me fez voltar! Hoje, quase 5 anos depois, ainda é isso que me faz voltar. “Num clube Toastmasters por cada discurso há sempre uma avaliação”. Parece óbvio, não é? Mas quantos avaliam o seu percurso nos Toastmasters pelo número de discursos que entregaram? E quantos avaliam o seu percurso pelo número de avaliações que apresentaram? Deve ser um número bem diferente. E tu, lembras-te de todas as avaliações que fizeste? “É a qualidade da avaliação que faz o membro progredir”. Mais uma vez, obviamente! Mas quando foi a última vez que leste atenta e antecipadamente os objetivos do projeto para o qual foste designado como avaliador? Quando foi a última vez que falaste com o orador acerca das suas expectativas e necessidades de melhoria? Recentemente!? Óptimo!

[Like many, I also remember the first Toastmaster´s meeting I attended at OTC. I vaguely remember the speeches, the people who were in the room... What I never forgot was the feeling when I heard the speeches’ evaluations. Surprise, admiration, incredulity. “This is always like this?”, I kept asking for the rest of the session. I know it was the desire to answer this question that made come back! Today, almost five years after, is still what makes me come back. “In a Toastmasters club for each speech there is always an evaluation”. Seems obvious, right? But how many evaluate their Toastmasters track in the number of speeches delivered? And how many evaluate their track in the number of evaluations? Must be a very different number. And you, do you remember all the assessments you have done? “It is the quality of the evaluations that makes the member move forward”. Again, obviously! But when was the last time you read carefully and in advance the objectives of the project for which you were appointed as an evaluator? When was the last time you talked with the speaker about his expectations or her needs for improvement? Recently!? Great!

What I never forgot was the feeling when I heard the speeches’ evaluations. Surprise, admiration, incredulity. “This is always like this?”, I kept asking for the rest of the session. I know it was the desire to answer this question that made come back! Today, almost five years after, is still what makes me come back. “In a Toastmasters club for each speech there is always an evaluation”. Seems obvious, right? But how many evaluate their Toastmasters track in the number of speeches delivered? And how many evaluate their track in the number of evaluations? Must be a very different number. And you, do you remember all the assessments you have done? “It is the quality of the evaluations that makes the member move forward”. Again, obviously! But when was the last time you read carefully and in advance the objectives of the project for which you were appointed as an evaluator? When was the last time you talked with the speaker about his expectations or her needs for improvement? Recently!? Great!

O
mundo atravessa uma fase de mudança, no caminho da disciplina, da estruturação e da informação. As organizações não podem e não devem ficar alheias a estas mudanças.
O Toastmasters, como organização de desenvolvimento das competências de liderança, também não pode e não deve ficar fora desta nova fase de reorganização. São cada vez mais as exigências, por parte dos membros, no que concerne à documentação comprovativa e justificativa dos pagamentos efetuados por cada um, assim como acontece com a documentação referente aos patrocínios efetuados. Até agora, a solução encontrada sempre foi sempre a da boa vontade e do verdadeiro espirito de entreajuda. O desafio que me foi lançado é enorme, pois ele consiste na unificação dos métodos a adotar pelos clubes, de modo a que a solução encontrada seja eficaz, económica e não sobrecarregue os parcos recursos administrativos e financeiros dos clubes. Com a ativação de um grupo de trabalho, encontrámos duas soluções possíveis: 1) a via da centralização, com a criação de uma associação única, coordenada pela Divisão; 2) a via da descentralização, na qual cada clube cria a sua associação e liga-a à Divisão. Seja qual for a decisão, é importante que a mesma tenha em conta a autonomia e a estrutura dos clubes existentes, pois não é desejável sobrecarregar, burocraticamente e financeiramente, os clubes.

Toastmasters, as an organization concerned with leadership issues, also can’t and shouldn’t be out of this change. Nowadays, members demand documentation that proves and justifies the payments that they do to clubs, as well as documents justifying the sponsorships made. Until now, the solution found was always the “good will” solution. The challenge that I have to surpass is huge, since it imposes an unifiication of the methods that clubs should adopt, in order to find an effective, economic and simple solution to take care of this payment justifications. With the construction of a group work, two solution were developed: 1) a centralized solution, with one unique association, coordinated by the Division; 2) a decentralized solution, with na association for each club, with a protocol with a bigger association created by the Division. The decision has to take in consideration the autonomy and the structure of the clubs, because it is not desirable to overload , the clubs, bureaucratically and financially. It will always be a participated, shared and practical solution. Toastmasters, where the solutions are found by all and for all!

[The years go by but there are projects that remain. October is a special month for all of us, Toastmasters, because it is the celebration of our birthday. However, is more than that. October is the month when we celebrate the realization of a vision.
Foi em 1924 que o Toastmasters foi fundado. O seu fundador foi Ralph Smedley, um norteamericano que trabalhava como diretor geral de educação na Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). Como diretor geral de educação, Ralph Smedley tinha a seu cargo a definição de todo o processo educativo da associação, sendo assim responsável pela escolha dos recursos educativos e dos procedimentos de ensino.
It was in 1924 that Toastmasters was founded. His founder was Ralph Smedley, a north-american that worked as educational director at Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA). As educational director, Ralph Smedley was responsible for the education process, defining educational resources and learning processes.

Assim, começou a realizar reuniões nas quais os participantes podiam aprender praticando. Deste modo, todos eram convidados a discursar e desempenhar tarefas durante as reuniões, naquilo que, já na altura, era um formato semelhante ao atual. A grande diferença residia, principalmente, no facto das avaliações ficarem apenas a cargo de Ralph Smedley e de um colega seu. Contudo, nem tudo foi fácil. Ao longo do seu percurso profissional, Ralph Smedley teve de se mudar por várias vezes. Por todas as cidades onde passou, ele tentou criar clubes. This way, everyone was invited to speak and perform roles during meetings, something similiar like nowadays. The biggest difference was that evaluations were made by Ralph Smedley and a colleague. However, not everything was easy. During his professional career, Ralph Smedley had to move many times. In every city where he stopped, he tried to create clubs. In every city where he stopped, clubs disappeared when he was gone. It was only in 1924, 21 years after he started working at YMCA, that the model that he developed got roots. It was only in 1925, when a second club was built, that the concept started to live without him. Since then, Toastmasters never stopped growing: more than 14650 clubs, in 126 countries, with more than 313000 members. More than an organization, Ralph Smedley left us an example. An example that shows how a vision can change the world that lives inside each one of us. Those worlds that are so big… Celebrate, but celebrate in Ralph’s way: realize your vision. Toasts!

O dia da Conferência é um dia de festa, em que todos dão o que têm de melhor em palco, na organização (este ano a cargo da Área D5 e do Algarve Toastmasters Club), na plateia, nas funções (como júri, como timer, como counter, etc.), orgulhando-nos de fazer parte desta grande família de lideres e comunicadores de alto nível!
The conference day is a celebration in which all give their best on stage, organization (this year in charge of Area D5 and Algarve Toastmasters Club), in the audience and roles (as judge, timer, counter, etc), making us all feel proud of being part of this family of hight level leaders and communicators!

Next November 1st, Faro will host the Fall National Conference of Toastmasters, in which more than 30 contestants will give their best in Speech Contests.
No próximo dia 1 de Novembro, Faro irá acolher a Conferência Nacional de Outono do Toastmasters, na qual mais de 30 participantes irão ser postos à prova, num desafiante Concurso de Discursos. A Conferência irá decorrer a partir das 9h30, na Universidade do Algarve (Campus da Penha) e promete momentos hilariantes. Teremos os representantes das 7 Áreas de Portugal, que irão estar à prova nos discursos preparados de humor e de improviso e os nossos “Mini Toastmasters” que irão brindar-nos com os seus discursos. No dia 1 de Outubro, o Lisboa Oriente Toastmasters (LOT) teve a sua primeira “Open House” após o regresso de férias. O convidado especial, Daniel Lança Perdigão, falou sobre comunicação visual, mais concretamente, do uso de técnicas de visualização na estruturação do pensamento e das apresentações.

á te imaginaste a inspirar uma audiência perante um auditório cheio? Mas como fazê-lo? Como aprender essas técnicas?
No dia 23 de Setembro, realizou-se no auditório do ISEGI, onde reúne o LTC, a palestra "Como inspirar uma audiência? Voz e Carisma", pela Coach Vocal Inês Moura, a qual treina a voz de líderes empresariais e políticos. Segundo a oradora, o carisma e a boa utilização da voz são dois dos fatores cruciais para cativar a atenção. De acordo com a palestrante, a atenção do público é conseguida pelo que se diz, pela maneira como se diz, pela voz e pelo próprio carisma transmitido. Para uma plateia composta por cerca de 100 pessoas, Inês Moura iniciou a sua palestra respondendo a algumas questões que algumas pessoas, previamente, tinham colocado, orientando assim o conteúdo da palestra para as necessidades dos presentes. Incluiu também, no conteúdo da sua palestra, cinco dicas que afirmou considerar fundamentais para que todos os oradores possam prender a atençao dos seus ouvintes. Foram cinco dicas simples, mas poderosas! O público adorou. Por outro lado, além da grande componente didática, este evento foi um óptimo meio para divulgar aquilo que fazemos todas as semanas no Toastmasters, pois grande parte do público presente ainda não tinha ouvido falar da nossa instituição.

[Have you imagined yourself inspiring an audience in a full auditorium? But how to do it? How to learn these techniques? On September 23rd, was held in the auditorium of ISEGI, where the LTC has its sessions, the lecture "How to inspire an audience? Voice and Charisma," by the Vocal Coach Inês Moura, which trains the voice of business and political leaders. According to the speaker, the charisma and the proper use of the voice are two of the crucial factors to captivate attention. According to the speaker, the public attention is achieved by what is said, by the way it is said, by voice and by the transmitted charisma. To an audience of about 100 people, Inês Moura began her lecture by answering a few questions that some people previously had placed, thus guiding the lecture content to the needs of the people present. She also included in the content of her speech, five tips that she consider fundamental for all speakers to hold the attention of their listeners. Were five simple, but powerful tips! The audience loved it. On the other hand, besides the great didactic component, this event was an excellent way to publicize what we do every week in Toastmasters, because much of the audience had not heard about of our institution.
Sabendo que os meios visuais contribuem para aumentar a capacidade de atenção, retenção de conteúdos e estruturação do raciocínio, Daniel Perdigão propôs a utilização de mapas mentais (mindmaps) como ferramenta para atingir esses objetivos. E não só falou da técnica como ainda a aplicou durante a sua exposição! As “Open House” no LOT são sempre momentos especiais, de aprendizagem e partilha, particularmente dedicados àqueles que nos visitam e aos que connosco já percorrem este caminho de aprender a comunicar melhor, para servir melhor. Decorrem sempre na primeira Quarta-feira de cada mês. A próxima será a 5 de Novembro. Realizou-se no passado dia 18 o Concurso de Outono da Área D1. Neste evento participaram concorrentes do Lisbon Toastmasters Club, do Lisbon MBA Toastmasters e do Lisboa Oriente Toastmasters Clube. Pelo envolvimento de todos os participantes, pelo convívio, pela experiência, pela confraternização e pela elevada qualidade de todos os discursos, independentemente de quem se qualificou em primeiro lugar, foi um dia onde todos os presentes ficaram a ganhar. Recordando que normalmente a sorte é diretamente proporcional ao treino entretanto realizado, a D1 deseja boa sorte à Cristiani Oliveira, ao Luís Antunes e ao Rui Amaral para o próximo dia 1 de Novembro, em Faro. Vamos todos estar convosco!

The special guest, Daniel Lança Perdigão, talked about visual communication, more specifically, the use of visual techniques in the structuring of thought and presentations. Knowing that visual aids help increases attention, retention of contents and structure of reasoning, Daniel Perdigão proposed using mental maps (mindmaps) as a tool to achieve these goals. And not only spoke of the technique, as applied it during the lecture! The "Open House" on the LOT are always special moments of learning and sharing, particularly dedicated to those who visit us, and to all that with us have run this way of learning to communicate better, to serve better. They always take place on the first Wednesday of each month. The next will be on November 5th. Was held on the 18th of the Area D1 Fall Contest. Participated in this event contestants from Lisbon Toastmasters Club, Lisbon MBA Toastmasters and Lisboa Oriente Toastmasters Club. The involvement of all participants, by the experience, socializing and the high quality of every speech, regardless of who qualified first, it was a day where all present got to win. Recalling that luck is usually directly proportional to the training conducted before, the D1 wishes good luck to Cristiani Oliveira, Luis Antunes and Rui Amaral for the next 1st November in Faro. We will all be with you!

Notícias da D2 Entusiasmo e dinâmica _Nuno Maximiano
E
ntusiasmo e dinâmica são as palavras utilizadas para descrever o espirito que reina nos clubes da D2. Este ambiente imperou no Concurso de Área, realizado no dia 18 de Outubro.
Os vencedores dos concursos prévios de cada clube proporcionaram-nos uma tarde com discursos de altíssimo nível e muitas gargalhadas ! Para os vencedores de cada categoria, quero desejar-lhes uma excelente entrega no concurso da Divisão. Estou certo que irão dar o seu melhor em representação desta fantástica Área. Aos restantes concorrentes, aos que assistiram e a todos que participaram nas funções necessárias à realização e planeamento do concurso, o meu muito obrigado, em nome de toda a área, por terem contribuído para mais um evento memorável da D2. Este período, até ao final do ano, é de extrema importância para atingir os objetivos a que nos propusemos no inicio do ano Toastmasters. Para partilhar boas práticas, encontrar soluções para os desafios existentes e criar uma maior sinergia entre os clubes da Área, iremos realizar durante o mês de Novembro, o primeiro Area Council da D2. Este é o fórum por excelência, para dinamizar ainda mais as iniciativas da Área e dos clubes, cujo resultado irá fazer crescer ainda mais os Toastmasters na nossa zona de influência. Uma mensagem final para agradecer aos Toastmasters da D2, que na manhã de 4 de Outubro se deslocaram até Seia para uma Sessão de Demonstração à Fundação Champalimaud. Um agradecimento muito especial ao Gustavo Mello por nos ter aberto as portas da fundação e por nos ter proporcionado esta oportunidade.
[Enthusiasm and dynamism are the words used to describe the spirit that is lived in the clubs of D2 . This environment prevailed in the Area Contest held last October 18th. Winners of each club presented us with high level speeches and lots of laughs! For our Area winners, I wish them good luck in the Division Contest and I am sure they will give their best representing this fantastic Area. For the remaining competitors, for those who attended and to all of you, who participated in the necessary planning for the contest, many thanks. This period, until the end of the year, is of utmost importance in achieving the goals we set to ourselves at the beginning of the Toastmasters year. To share best practices, find solutions to existing challenges and create greater synergy between the clubs in the Area, we will perform during the month of November, the first Area Council of D2. This is the forum of excellence, to further streamline initiatives of Area and its clubs. This way we will grow even more in our area of influence. A final message to thank the Toastmasters of D2 , that on the morning of October 4th went to Seia for a Demo Session in the Champalimaud Foundation. A special thanks to Gustavo Mello for having opened us the doors of the foundation and for the opportunity provided. This is the true Toastmasters spirit, this is the spirit of D2!

International Speakers: O Verão acabou, assim como os discursos à beira-mar. Agora o International Speakers tem sangue azul e fez do Palácio de Queluz a sua casa. Como se esta mudança já não tivesse sido suficiente, o Grupo Pestana, verdadeiro parceiro dos Toastmasters portugueses, colocou à disposição do nosso clube a sua sala de teatro, com um palco profissional que, para além dos lugares disponíveis na plateia, conta com um balcão superior. Para acompanhar esta novidade, juntou-se ao nosso clube António Mello, o primeiro português a fazer um Icebreaker na história do Toastmasters Portugal! Como não poderia deixar de ser, já recomeçou o seu percurso Competent Communicator com inúmeras histórias sobre a génese dos Toastmasters em Portugal! Taguspark: Como habitualmente, no clube Taguspark, há sempre muito dinamismo e actividade. Este último mês foi, particularmente, emocionante! Chegámos à nossa 100.ª sessão e, para celebrá-la, tivemos uma sessão com muito humor, seguida de um jantar em que todos tiveram oportunidade de mostrar os seus dotes na culinária, levando as suas especialidades! Tudo isto bem regado com champanhe, muita amizade e, claro, finalizado com um Toast! Como não aguentamos duas semanas sem um evento, usámos a desculpa dos concursos para nos encontrarmos no fim-de-semana. Desta vez, quem nos recebeu de braços abertos em sua casa foi a Ana Maçarico! Passámos a tarde com uma vista maravilhosa, em boa companhia e num verdadeiro banquete! Young Entrepreneurs: Um dia de concursos não é suficiente para o YETC. Têm de ser 2! Foi essa a conclusão a que se chegou perante a lista de participantes deste ano, sendo o concurso dividido em humor (29/9) e table topics (6/10). O resultado? Luís Caixado em Humor Inglês, Diogo Lopes Pereira em Humor Português, Diana Metello em Table Topics Inglês e Nelson Emílio em Table Topics Português.
[International Speakers: The Summer is gone as well as the speeches at seafront. Now the International Speakers has royal blood and uses the Queluz Palace as its home. Wasn’t this enough and the Pestana Group, true partners of Portuguese Toastmasters, made us available a theatre room, with a professional stage. Since good news never come alone, we have the pleasure to announce that António Mello, the first portuguese doing an Icebreaker in the history of Toastmasters Portugal, joined us! He is, againg, doing his Competent Communicator path, telling us stories about the beggining of Toastmasters in Portugal. Taguspark: As usual, the Taguspark club, is full of enthusiasm and activity. This last month was, specially exciting! We reached our session number 100 and, to celebrate, we had a session with a lot of humor, followed by a dinner in which everyone had the chance to show how good they are cooking! To drink? Champagne… with a Toast! As we cannot be two weeks without an event, we used the contest as an excuse to meet in the weekend. This time, Ana Maçarico was the one hosting us! What a marvelous afternoon we had, with an amazing sightseeing and fellowship. Young Entrepreneurs: One day for contests is not enough for the YETC. We need two days! That was the conclusion , with the humor speeches contest on September 29th and the impromptu speeches on October 6th. The results? Luís Caixado won the English Humor, Diogo Lopes Pereira the Portuguese Humor, Diana Metello English Impromptu and Nélson Emílio Portuguese Impromptu.

We reached our session number 100 and, to celebrate, we had a session with a lot of humor, followed by a dinner in which everyone had the chance to show how good they are cooking! To drink? Champagne… with a Toast! As we cannot be two weeks without an event, we used the contest as an excuse to meet in the weekend. This time, Ana Maçarico was the one hosting us! What a marvelous afternoon we had, with an amazing sightseeing and fellowship. Young Entrepreneurs: One day for contests is not enough for the YETC. We need two days! That was the conclusion , with the humor speeches contest on September 29th and the impromptu speeches on October 6th. The results? Luís Caixado won the English Humor, Diogo Lopes Pereira the Portuguese Humor, Diana Metello English Impromptu and Nélson Emílio Portuguese Impromptu.

A
família continua a fazer a diferença na D3! Este mês continuámos no registo dinâmico do mês de Setembro e empenhámo-nos, arduamente, na preparação dos concursos. Sempre com boa disposição e caras novas na família!
Castelo Branco Toastmasters Club: Para este mês, a nossa palavra é: crescimento. Recebemos de braços abertos novos membros, que se lançaram logo ao desafio e iniciaram, destemidos, o seu percurso Toastmasters. E este mês, mais uma estreia, a nossa primeira participação no concurso de Outono, de humor e improviso, para o qual nos preparámos com afinco (e boa disposição), mas, sobretudo, com vontade de aprender. Inspirados e cheios de energia, queremos mais, sempre mais! Para isso, continuamos a traçar a nossa rota para os próximos meses, no sentido de captar cada vez mais membros e estamos confiantes, pois aqui por Castelo Branco recebemos com hospitalidade, mas também com exigência, com motivação, criatividade e sempre determinados a ajudar a descobrir, em cada um de nós, as suas potencialidades. Assim, firmamo-nos como uma equipa de pessoas que se atrevem, todos os dias, a ser bem-sucedidas! Sejam por isso bem-vindos. Bem-haja por acreditarem connosco. Um brinde! Vagos Toastmasters: O Vagos Toastmasters está a ter as suas sessões quinzenais na Junta de Freguesia de Vagos e Santo António. Estas sessões realizam-se às 5ª feiras pela 21:00. A próxima sessão será no dia 24/10/2014. Decorreu no dia 9/10 a 3ª sessão. Fomos visitados por 6 pessoas interessadas em conhecer o conceito e tivemos o prazer de receber duas inscrições no nosso clube. As sessões semanais continuam animadas e com convidados que se convertem em membros, prontos a dar o primeiro passo rumo ao... icebreaker! Temos novos super-heróis e estão todos de parabéns. Este ano, estreamo-nos nos concursos em inglês e já temos algumas surpresas na manga. Mantenham-se atentos! O Kit Mentor já está em utilização e os novos membros já têm mentores divertidos e preparados para partilhar os seus sucessos e experiências. Recrutámos um novo elemento para commitee de VPPR, Ezequiel Borges, um criativo que irá apoiar o clube nesta fantástica função e que, certamente, nos trará mais dinâmica e visibilidade para fora do clube. Continuamos com a melhor EQUIPA de Officers de Leiria e procuramos divertir-nos, aprender e crescer juntos. Acreditamos que juntos vamos mais longe, por isso, trabalhamos em... EQUIPA, pois claro! Leiria Toastmasters Club: September closed with positive results! The weekly sessions continued animated, with guests becoming members and ready for their first path… the icebreaker! We have new superheroes and all of them are to be congratulated. This year we debuted on the English speeches and we already have some surprises prepared. Stay tuned! The Mentor Kit is being used and new members have mentors, fun and ready to share successes and experiences. We have a new element in our team, Ezequiel Borges, which will be our committee VPPR. This creative will help us, bringing dynamic and giving us more visibility outside the club. We still have the best officers’ team and we are always looking forward to learn together in a cheerful environment. We believe that together we go further, so we work as a team. Visit us!

Coimbra Toastmasters Club: On October we had the chance to collect the results of our great September. The new membership campaign and the motivation campaign for registered members were a success. The Marathon and the Area Council also were a success, as the D3’s clubs can say. This month we have a lot of special sessions, in schools and institutions, which will allow us to leave our Toastmasters stage, our comfort zone. For the members of other clubs we warn: get ready because our members will win the humorous and impromptu speeches contests! On October 18th, Area D3, in a size XXL party atmosphere, has elected its contestants to November 1st in Faro:

Notícias da D4 Uma entreajuda crescente _Carlos Costa
É
sempre bom partilhar espírito de entreajuda crescente entre os clubes da Área D4, suportado por membros que demonstram uma enorme disponibilidade.
Exemplo disso foram os Concursos de Outono da Área, com mais um momento de convívio e divulgação dos Toastmasters, numa iniciativa do clube de Braga que, desta vez, levou os Concursos de Área até ao berço da nação. Uma tarde de Sábado em grande, no Cine Clube de Guimarães, na qual todos os representantes dos clubes da Área, membros e convidados foram acolhidos com dignidade, pompa e circunstância, na boa tradição minhota de bem receber. Foi uma tarde em família. Enfrentaram a chuva, a tempestade e, com muito humor e improviso, fizeram o Concurso da Área D4. Parabéns a todos os concorrentes e aos vencedores da tarde. Paulo Pinto e Paulo Salgado, membros do OTC, venceram respetivamente os Concursos de Improviso e de Humor em Português. Destaque para o Paulo Salgado que, dois dias antes de fazer o seu Icebreaker, conseguiu vencer, de forma brilhante, com um discurso que nos fez passear por várias famílias conhecidas nacionalmente. Nos discursos em inglês, voltámos a contar com o Luís Marrana em grande nível, demonstrando todas as qualidades que lhe reconhecemos. Serão eles a representar a Área D4 na Final Nacional, dia 1 de Novembro em Faro! Ficamos a contar com o apoio de todos os que nos possam acompanhar a Faro. Os últimos tempos têm mostrado a crescente dinâmica dos clubes da Área: No passado dia 15, o Mind Business esteve na Atmosfera M do Montepio no Porto, a apresentar o conceito aos seus frequentadores. No dia 21, foi o Invicta que organizou mais uma apresentação na Universidade Católica (Pólo da Foz), sendo que, no dia 22, festejámos na Casa do Ló, com brindes e table topics emocionantes para todos, o 90.º aniversário de fundação dos Toastmasters (22 de Outubro 1924 - 2014)! Com amigos, colegas, mentores, mentorandos, membros de outros clubes... Afinal já pensaste quão diferente seria a vida se há 90 anos não tivéssemos nascido...? O TecMaia retoma as suas sessões quinzenais, agora em horário de almoço às Terças-feiras. Arranca já no próximo dia 28! Together we make a difference. "Toast with Porto"
[Tt’s always good to share the growing spirit of mutual help among the clubs in Area D4, supported by members that demonstrate a huge availability. Example of this were the Area Fall Contests, one more moment of conviviality and disclosure of Toastmasters, an initiative of the Braga club, this time taking the Area Contests to Guimarães. One Saturday afternoon in large, at the Cine Club of Guimarães, in which contestants of all the clubs of the Area, members and guests were welcomed with dignity, pomp and circumstance, in the good tradition of the welcoming Minho. It was an afternoon in family. They faced the rain, the storm and with lots of humor and improvisation, have done the Area D4 Contest. Congratulations to all the winners and competitors of this afternoon. Paulo Pinto and Paulo Salgado, members of the OTC, respectively won the Contests of Impromptu and Humorous Speeches in Portuguese. Highlight for Paulo Salgado, two days before his Icebreaker, got to win, brilliantly, with a speech that made us walk for several nationally known families. In speeches in English, we again rely on Luis Marrana at great level, showing all the qualities that we recognize on him. They will represent Area D4 in the National Final, November 1st, in Faro! We count on the support of all who may follow us to Faro. The recent times have shown the growing momentum of clubs in the Area: In the past 15th, the Mind Business has been in the Atmosphere M Montepio in Porto, to present the concept to its patrons. On 21st, the Invicta organized one more presentation at the Catholic University (Pole of Foz), and on the 22nd, we celebrated in the Casa do Ló, with toays and exciting table topics, the 90th anniversary of the foundation of Toastmasters (22 October 1924-2014)! With friends, colleagues, mentors, mentees, members of other clubs... After all, have you ever think how different life would be if 90 years ago we had not been born...? TecMaia is back in business with biweekly sessions, at lunch time, on Tuesdays. It starts next 28th!

Notícias da Área D5 Algarve e Alentejo _Sofia Trindade

ovidades… na zona sul do País, Algarve e Alentejo!
Momentos especiais no Algarve Toastmasters Club O mês de Outubro tem sido a “bombar”. Começámos em grande com a organização de uma sessão especial no dia 4, a qual contou com uma palestra sobre “Como tu funcionas? Comunicação e PNL”. Estiveram presentes nesta sessão cerca de 60 pessoas, entre eles membros do Portimão TC e do Business Speakers TC, assim como vários convidados. Seguiu-se a este evento um almoço 5 estrelas, no qual pudémos conviver. O dia 8 também foi em grande, com a apresentação de um workshop intitulado “A importância de falar em público” no JOB PARTY, organizado pelo Fórum Estudante e pela Escola de Educação e Comunicação da UAlg. À tarde, outro workshop, “Saber comunicar e falar em público”, desta vez organizado pela AAUalg da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologias. Terminámos à noite com a nossa sessão habitual, já na UAlg, onde apresentámos os Committees das várias equipas de Officers. “Dar e Receber” foi o lema do dia! No passado dia 15, entre membros e convidados, ouvimos e falámos. Tal como gostamos de fazer! No dia 22, celebrámos à grande os 90 anos desta grande organização que é o TOASTMASTERS! Terminámos em beleza, com o Concurso de Área, no dia 25! Os vencedores foram: • Discursos de Humor em Português: Ana Monteiro (Algarve TC) • Discursos de Improviso em Português: Alexandre Frade (Beja TC) • Discursos de Improviso em Inglês: Filomena Mourinho (Beja TC) Tudo isto para que no dia 1 de Novembro, o evento “ALGARVE HUMOR – CONFERÊNCIA DE OUTONO TOASTMASTERS”, seja inesquecível! [What's new ... in the south of the country, Algarve and Alentejo! Special moments in Algarve Toastmasters Club The month of October has been “don’t stop". We started with the organization of a special session on the 4th, which featured a lecture on "How do you work? Communication and NLP”. There were about 60 people present at the meeting, among them members of Portimão TC and Business Speakers TC, as well as several guests. This event was followed by a lunch five stars, where we were able to gather with each other. The 8th was also intense, with the presentation of a workshop entitled "The importance of public speaking" in the JOB PARTY, hosted by the Student Forum and the School of Education and Communication of UAlg. In the afternoon, another workshop, "Learning to communicate and speak in public," this time AAUalg organized by the Faculty of Science and Technology. We finished the evening with our usual session, already in UAlg, where we presented the Committees for the Officers teams. "Give and Receive" was the motto of the day! On the past 15th, among members and guests we listened and talked. As we like to do! On the 22th, we celebrated in big the 90 years of this great organization that is TOASTMASTERS! Finished in beauty, with the Area Contest, on 25th! Discretely organized, so that was a surprise to members of the Portimão Toastmasters Club, arrangements were made so that we could launch the expectation and begin the countdown to the surprise of the day! The room was filled with guests and members of other clubs: Algarve Toastmasters Club, Toastmasters Club Beja and Business Speakers Toastmasters Club, which gave us with his affection and participation. The secret, was just unveiled at the end of the session, when the curtain went up and we recognize the work done in the club of Portimão, and the dedication of some of its members. This recognition was formalized by our Area Governor, Sofia Trindade, through the delivery of the Charter Member diplomas. We thank you all for your presence!

Momentos especiais no Algarve Toastmasters Club O mês de Outubro tem sido a “bombar”. Começámos em grande com a organização de uma sessão especial no dia 4, a qual contou com uma palestra sobre “Como tu funcionas? Comunicação e PNL”. Estiveram presentes nesta sessão cerca de 60 pessoas, entre eles membros do Portimão TC e do Business Speakers TC, assim como vários convidados. Seguiu-se a este evento um almoço 5 estrelas, no qual pudémos conviver. O dia 8 também foi em grande, com a apresentação de um workshop intitulado “A importância de falar em público” no JOB PARTY, organizado pelo Fórum Estudante e pela Escola de Educação e Comunicação da UAlg. À tarde, outro workshop, “Saber comunicar e falar em público”, desta vez organizado pela AAUalg da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologias. Terminámos à noite com a nossa sessão habitual, já na UAlg, onde apresentámos os Committees das várias equipas de Officers. “Dar e Receber” foi o lema do dia! No passado dia 15, entre membros e convidados, ouvimos e falámos. Tal como gostamos de fazer! No dia 22, celebrámos à grande os 90 anos desta grande organização que é o TOASTMASTERS! Terminámos em beleza, com o Concurso de Área, no dia 25! estaque, naturalmente, para o concurso da Área D6 de public speaking, realizado no passado dia 18 de Outubro. Quisemos dar as boas-vindas ao novíssimo clube ATEC TM, levando o conceito dos concursos aos seus membros, de modo a que que estes se comecem a familiarizar com este tipo de eventos. Por isso, paralelamente à saudável competição, acabou por ser também uma ação de divulgação dos Toastmasters. Quanto ao concurso propriamente dito, foram apurados os vencedores nas diferentes frentes que irão representar a Área na Conferência Nacional em Faro, no próximo dia 1 de Novembro. São eles:
[Let us start by highlighting the Public Speaking Contest at Area D6, last October 18th. We wanted to welcome the newly incorporated club in Area D6, ATEC TM, by bringing the contest concept to its venue, and preparing its members for this kind of events. Side by side with the healthy competition, the event also served to promote the Toastmasters concept among them. Estão, pois, de parabéns. A Área está convosco! Em matéria de Club Building, referência para a Sessão de Demonstração, no passado dia 23 de Setembro, do ATEC TM, um clube aberto que está sediado no Parque Industrial da AutoEuropa, em Palmela. Mais do que saudar um novo clube, tratou-se de uma festa, tendo a Sessão de Demonstração contado com um número elevado de convidados e, com a ajuda de membros dos vários clubes da Área. O clube tem sessões quinzenais às Segundas-feiras, pelas 17:30. Destaque também para a realização do Mini Toastmasters das Áreas D1, D2, D6 e D7, que decorreu no dia 28 de Setembro, no Auditório do Centro de Interpretação de Monsanto. Vimos bravura, coragem e perseverança de crianças dos 6 aos 15 anos.

Regarding Club Building, a reference to the Demo Session, last September 23rd, the ATEC TM, an open club that is based at the Auto Europa Industrial Park, in Palmela. More than welcome a new club, it was a celebration, and the Demo Session counted with a large number of guests and with the help of members of the different clubs in Area. The club has fortnightly sessions, on Mondays at 5.30pm. Highlights also include the event Mini Toastmasters of Areas D1, D2, D6 and D7, which took place on September 28th, in the Auditorium of the Interpretation Centre of Monsanto. We saw bravery, courage and perseverance of children from 6 to 15 years.

Foi também notícia o Sunset Toastmasters Session, do passado dia 5 de Outubro no Alcach Bar em Alcochete, naquela que foi uma iniciativa inovadora do Montijo TM. Que cenário mais inspirador para uma sessão Toastmaster, do que uma esplanada a contemplar o pôr do sol, tendo o Tejo como pano de fundo? O evento, que contou com membros do Montijo, do ACL e do Barreiro, promete repetir-se. O ACL continua a mostrar-se particularmente dinâmico. A parceira realizada entre o ACL e a Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, continua a gerar bons eventos, com a realização de mais um workshop, no dia 29 de Outubro, dirigido a todos os estudantes e finalistas dos mestrados e doutorandos de Biologia e Ciências que terão, brevemente, que defender as suas teses. Este workshop terá o título “Como fazer uma apresentação oral” e é mais uma oportunidade para divulgar e mostrar o mérito dos Toastmasters e do ACL, o qual está sempre pronto a colocar os seus préstimos ao serviço da comunidade. No próximo dia 6 de Novembro, o ACL pretende levar a cabo um evento de apresentação do conceito Toastmasters e do Clube de Almada, no Espaço FNAC do Almada Fórum. O evento visa reforçar a visibilidade dos Toastmasters e, em simultâneo, trabalhar o membership do clube. O ACL apresenta ainda, no dia 25 de Novembro, uma palestra que será entregue por uma convidada muito especial, Irina Golovanova, body language trainer, sobre comunicação não verbal e expressões faciais, aspetos essenciais de uma comunicação eficaz.

We all ended in reinvigorating snack at the garde, in the idyllic landscape of Monsanto, contemplating Lisbon. News was also the Sunset Toastmasters Session, on October 5th, at Alcach Bar, in Alcochete, in what was an innovative initiative of Montijo TM. What scenario could be more inspiring for a Toastmaster session, than a terrace to contemplate the sunset, taking the Tagus river as a backdrop? The event, which featured members of Montijo, ACL and Barreiro, promises to be repeated. The ACL keeps showing up particularly dynamic. The partnership held between the ACL and the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Nova University of Lisbon, continues to generate good events, by holding another workshop on October 29th, addressed to all students and finalists of masters and PhD students of Biology and Sciences that will, briefly, to defend their theses. This workshop will have the title "How to make an oral presentation“, and is another opportunity to advertise and show the merits of Toastmasters and the ACL, which is always ready to be at community service. On November 6th, the ACL intends to conduct an event to present the Toastmasters concept and the Almada Club, in the premises of FNAC at Almada Forum. The event aims to raise the profile of Toastmasters, and simultaneously work the membership of the club. The ACL also provides, on November 25th, a lecture that will be delivered by a very special guest, Irina Golovanova, body language trainer, on nonverbal communication and facial expressions, essential aspects of effective communication.

Notícias da Área D7 Concurso de Área e Sessões Especiais
O Concurso da Área D7 decorreu no dia 18 de Outubro. A audiência estava bastante preenchida, com cerca de 40 pessoas, na sala do Clube Iscte, onde o BSTC e o Runners têm as suas sessões regulares.

o Business Speakers Toastmasters Club, o mês de Setembro e início de Outubro foram intensos e enérgicos.
Foi organizada uma “Learning Session” muito proveitosa, onde os participantes puderam aprender ou relembrar acerca do programa, plataforma Easy-speak, das funções a desempenhar nos Toastmasters e de como criar um melhor clima de aprendizagem nos clubes. A campanha de membership "Smedley Award" foi potenciada através de uma pequena competição entre membros, pelo que as sessões tiveram muita afluência, caras novas e muito bom ambiente. No passado dia 9 realizou-se o concurso do clube. A audiência foi brindada com muito humor, numa sessão com bastante afluência. Os vencedores concorreram no dia 18 com os restantes clubes da Área e o clube terá um representante em Faro no dia 1 de Novembro. Funchal em velocidade de cruzeiro: o Clube Toastmasters do Funchal continua em alta e consistente velocidade. Uma vez atingidos os 45 membros, decidiu passar a ter 2 reuniões por semana. A resposta dos membros continua a ser excelente e com constante progresso, quer na liderança, quer na comunicação. São já 6 etapas de comunicação completadas, bem como 6 etapas de liderança e 7 novos membros. Sentem que estão a ultrapassar barreiras e esperam com isso motivar e inspirar a comunidade Toastmaster! O Torres Toastmasters está imparável. Depois de ter sido anfitrião do concurso de Área da antiga L1 na Primavera, o clube, agora chartered, organizou uma sessão especial dedicada ao “Vinho e à Arte de o produzir”. Esta inspiradora temática serviu de mote à confraternização de Toastmasters de diferentes clubes e Áreas, que puderam participar numa vindima à moda antiga. Guiados pela história e pelos rituais da produção deste néctar, fomos de tesoura em punho percorrendo a safra, que terminou, como manda a tradição, na pisa da uva. Com prova de vinhos e almoço de bacalhau e atum de barrica, a sessão não podia ter corrido melhor… E desta vez os brindes foram-no literalmente - com vinho!
WHERE LEADERS ARE MADE
[At Business Speakers Toastmasters Club, September and October’s beginning were intense and full of energy. It was organized a very useful "Learning Session”, where participants were able to learn or remember about the Toastmasters program, Easy-speak platform, about the roles in a Toastmasters session, and how to create a better learning atmosphere in the club. The membership campaign "Smedley Award" was enhanced by a little competition between members, so the sessions were crowded, with new faces and a very good atmosphere. On October 9th, it took place the club contest. The audience was granted with great humor in a session with high affluence. The winners competed on October 18th with the other clubs in the Area, and the club will have a contestant in Faro on November 1st. Funchal up to speed: the Club Toastmasters of Funchal remains in high and consistent speed. Once it has reached 45 members, they decided to start having two meetings a week. The response from the members continues to be excellent and in steady progress, either in leadership and communication. 6 communication steps are already completed, as well as 6 stages of leadership and 7 new members. They feel they are overcome barriers and expect it to motivate and inspire the Toastmaster community! The Torres Toastmasters is unstoppable. After being host of the Area Contest of the old L1, in the Spring, the club, now chartered, organized a special session dedicated to "Wine and the Art of the producing it" This theme served to inspire the fellowship between Toastmasters from different clubs and Areas, who could participate in a vintage like it was in the past. Guided by history and by the rituals of this nectar production, people walked through the harvest with scissor in the hands, and ended, as tradition dictates, in treading the grapes. With wine tasting and lunch of cod and tuna fish, the session could not have gone better... And this time the toasts were literally with wine!

O Concurso da Área D7 decorreu no dia 18 de Outubro. A audiência estava bastante preenchida, com cerca de 40 pessoas, na sala do Clube Iscte, onde o BSTC e o Runners têm as suas sessões regulares.

o Business Speakers Toastmasters Club, o mês de Setembro e início de Outubro foram intensos e enérgicos.
Foi organizada uma “Learning Session” muito proveitosa, onde os participantes puderam aprender ou relembrar acerca do programa, plataforma Easy-speak, das funções a desempenhar nos Toastmasters e de como criar um melhor clima de aprendizagem nos clubes. A campanha de membership "Smedley Award" foi potenciada através de uma pequena competição entre membros, pelo que as sessões tiveram muita afluência, caras novas e muito bom ambiente. No passado dia 9 realizou-se o concurso do clube. A audiência foi brindada com muito humor, numa sessão com bastante afluência. Os vencedores concorreram no dia 18 com os restantes clubes da Área e o clube terá um representante em Faro no dia 1 de Novembro. Funchal em velocidade de cruzeiro: o Clube Toastmasters do Funchal continua em alta e consistente velocidade. Uma vez atingidos os 45 membros, decidiu passar a ter 2 reuniões por semana. A resposta dos membros continua a ser excelente e com constante progresso, quer na liderança, quer na comunicação. São já 6 etapas de comunicação completadas, bem como 6 etapas de liderança e 7 novos membros. Sentem que estão a ultrapassar barreiras e esperam com isso motivar e inspirar a comunidade Toastmaster! O Torres Toastmasters está imparável. Depois de ter sido anfitrião do concurso de Área da antiga L1 na Primavera, o clube, agora chartered, organizou uma sessão especial dedicada ao “Vinho e à Arte de o produzir”.
