ATHLETIC UPDATES Baseball Wins Second National Championship For the second time in program history, the baseball program took home a national championship! The team defeated St. Thomas University, 6-2, May 31, 2019 to earn the title of national champions. The team’s 56 wins last season were the most in program history.
Men’s Outdoor Track Program Wins 4x100m Relay National Championship At the NAIA’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May, the 4x100m Relay Team of Kenny Benton, Dillan Elkins, Ken Cobb and Devonte Fletcher won the program’s first relay championship. The team ran a winning time of 40.22 to earn the relay national championship.
Stan Harrison Inducted into NAIA Hall of Fame
Billy Berry Named ABCA-NAIA Coach of the Year The American Baseball Coaches Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics named Billy Berry the Coach of the Year for the 2019 season. In his 12th season with the program, Berry led the Bulldogs to a 56-10 record, Appalachian Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Titles, an NAIA Opening Round Championship and the 2019 NAIA Baseball National Championship. 22 | ARCHES
Stan Harrison was announced as one of seven members of the 2019 Hall of Fame Class by the NAIA on September 16. The honor recognizes an individual's service to intercollegiate athletics, the NAIA and their sport. The induction into the Hall of Fame is a tribute which recognizes Harrison's outstanding character and leadership ability, and the fact he is held in high esteem by his colleagues, former coaches, and athletes. Harrison is the fourth person from TWU to be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame, joining Coach Dwain Farmer (1986), Floyd "Jack" Bowling (1990) and Bobby Davis (2014).
