Baseball Wins Second National Championship

For the second time in program history, the baseball program took home a national championship! The team defeated St. Thomas University, 6-2, May 31, 2019 to earn the title of national champions. The team’s 56 wins last season were the most in program history.

Billy Berry Named ABCA-NAIA Coach of the Year

The American Baseball Coaches Association and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics named Billy Berry the Coach of the Year for the 2019 season. In his 12th season with the program, Berry led the Bulldogs to a 56-10 record, Appalachian Athletic Conference Regular Season and Tournament Titles, an NAIA Opening Round Championship and the 2019 NAIA Baseball National Championship.

Men’s Outdoor Track Program Wins 4x100m Relay National Championship

At the NAIA’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships in May, the 4x100m Relay Team of Kenny Benton, Dillan Elkins, Ken Cobb and Devonte Fletcher won the program’s first relay championship. The team ran a winning time of 40.22 to earn the relay national championship.

Stan Harrison Inducted into NAIA Hall of Fame

Stan Harrison was announced as one of seven members of the 2019 Hall of Fame Class by the NAIA on September 16. The honor recognizes an individual's service to intercollegiate athletics, the NAIA and their sport. The induction into the Hall of Fame is a tribute which recognizes Harrison's outstanding character and leadership ability, and the fact he is held in high esteem by his colleagues, former coaches, and athletes. Harrison is the fourth person from TWU to be inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame, joining Coach Dwain Farmer (1986), Floyd "Jack" Bowling (1990) and Bobby Davis (2014).

Tennessee Wesleyan Brings Home Multiple AAC Awards

Tennessee Wesleyan took home many of the end of year awards announced by the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The department won the Duard Walker All Sports Trophy for the sixth time, Kelley Seekins was named the Athletic Trainer of the Year, Billy Berry was named the Coach of Character Award winner and Rachel Gallison (‘20) was named the AAC’s Female Champions of Character Award winner.

Tennessee Wesleyan Inducts Five Individuals and One Team into Athletic Hall of Fame

Five new members were inducted into the Tennessee Wesleyan University Hall of Fame in November. Brett Warren, baseball, Stephen Lyons, soccer, Charlene “Chuck” Michael Webb, softball and soccer, Larry Voyles and Justin Lucas, soccer, became the newest members of the Hall of Fame. The 1986 Women’s Basketball Team became the third team to be inducted as a Team of Honor.

Men’s and Women’s Soccer Win Appalachian Athletic Conference Regular Season Titles; Qualify for NAIA National Tournaments

The 2019 season saw both the men’s and women’s soccer teams win the regular-season title in the Appalachian Athletic Conference on their respective sides. The women’s team took home a share of the regular-season title after finishing 15-2 overall and with a 12-1 AAC record.

The men’s soccer team took home the title outright with their 14-2-2 overall record and 9-1-1 AAC record. With their regular season titles, both teams qualified for the NAIA National Tournament, the first-time ever both teams qualified for the national tournament in the same season.

Men’s and Women’s Bowling Set New Standards During 2019-2020 Season

SPRING 2020 | 23 This season saw unprecedented heights for both teams. The men’s team had the first winning season (47-23) in program history, advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament and qualified for the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Team Sectionals. The women’s program won 25 games (a 17-win improvement from last season) while having their first bowler (Emma Parks) qualify for the USBC Singles Sectionals.
