WHAT’S ON WINTER 2019
Welcome!
Wanjoo
What’s On is the City of Fremantle’s quarterly guide for residents and visitors to keep up to date with everything’s that happening in the community. Here you’ll find information on the City’s major events, as well as programs and activities across libraries, community and cultural centres, early childhood, youth and senior services, health and fitness and much more. We would like to acknowledge that our events and programs are located on the traditional country of the Whadjuk people. The land where Fremantle (Walyalup) sits has always been a place of ceremonies, significant cultural practices and trading.
Happy reading!

Fremantle Festival
10 NIGHTS IN PORT 12–21 JULY
Img cr. Matt Crockett
This July, Fremantle embraces winter with a celebration of community and place. From 12–21 July, you’ll find Fremantle alive with contemporary music, theatre, visual arts, film and live performances. Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said this year’s Fremantle Festival program featured projects from local and international artists. “Spread across Fremantle’s precincts, 10 Nights in Port takes into consideration the traditions of the local community and the character of the historic city,” Mayor Pettitt said. From large-scale participatory events to immersive experiences and a number of WA premieres, the program consists of a series of carefully curated events that will warm the soul and enliven the senses. Feast of the Deceiver, presented by Secret Squirrel Productions, is a WA first and will lure guests into a world of ulterior motives, an immersive game and luxury dining. The luscious six-course dinner will occur in a secret central Fremantle location and will keep diners on their toes.
Also premiering, The Miss Behave Gameshow is a freewheeling, high-energy variety whirlwind. Direct from her sold out seasons in Las Vegas and Sydney, London cabaret queen Amy Saunders (La Soiree, La Clique) will intoxicate audiences with her special brand of glittering chaos. In its ninth year, the highly successful Hidden Treasures winter music series will return as part of 10 Nights in Port with an earful of Freo balladeers, freshly-minted local bands and some favourite heroes of the Port City stage. “This series of gigs offers a rare peak into some of the city’s longest-running workers’ clubs and small venues, bringing together the distinctive taps, carpets and dartboards of Aussie clubhouses with some great local music,” Mayor Pettitt said. Between shows, audiences can take a Soak in a series of outdoor relaxation stations where they can submerge and unwind or warm themselves by one of the many Festival Fires dotted around the city. To cap off the festival experience, the Festival Club offers a place to settle into for a leisurely hangout throughout 10 Nights in Port, with a series of hearty communal dining experiences, delicious drinks and music.
