Partnerships The activities listed below serve as only a few examples of partnerships that TISED built this past year and that we consider an integral part of our foundation. We rely on strong partnerships among researchers, industry, and student groups. Through our ongoing partnership with IET (L’Institut de l’énergie Trottier), we collaborated on several projects and events, including the 6th Annual Symposium on Sustainable Engineering, Energy and Design, and the 3rd annual IGEE Summer School, as well as on policy initiatives such as the Northeast Electricity Modelling Project. A scoping study report on the latter, led by TISED members and HEC Montreal, and with collaboration from IET and other partners, investigates the value of regional integration to decarbonize the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) power systems and was released at a public meeting on June 18, 2018 at HEC Montreal. The scoping study, titled A Decarbonized Northeast Electricity Sector: The Value of Regional Integration can be found through the following link here: (http://energie.hec.ca/wpcontent/uploads/2018/06/ScopingStudy_NortheastHydroModelling_13june2018.pdf). Our continuing partnership with the Fondation 3E enabled us to once again offer two for-credit courses, SEAD 510 Energy Analysis and FACC 511 Sustainable Urban Communities, in the 2018-2019 academic year (more information in the Education Section below). This was also our second year of collaboration with the Global Health Programs (GHP) in the Faculty of Medicine. Last year, we co-launched a seed grant initiative that funds interdisciplinary research in Engineering and Medicine and awarded two 18-month grants to research teams with TISED members. This year, TISED hosted a reception on November 19, 2018, for the TISED/GHP Innovative Solutions for Planetary Health Seed Grant Program where the two recipient teams presented their research findings (see the Research and Policy section for more information). In addition, TISED actively participated, sponsored, or advertised in these events organized by our partners: Circular Economy Conference Hosted by the Bensadoun School of Retail, McGill University IGEE Summer School Hosted by the Institut en Génie de l’Énergie Électrique Life Cycle Assessment: A Sustainable Discussion Hosted by SEAM (Sustainability in Engineering at McGill)
