My life and work experience took me in the direction of Customer Service and Teaching. This experience taught me that my strength lies in creative thinking, and problem solving.

My passion for creativity and design coupled with my experience has led me to pursue Graphic Design and illustration.

A personal interest in psychology, particularly in the area of language and influence allows me to make design choices with a deeper awareness of factors like brand ethos and target audience.

I have worked on a variety of different projects so far and look forward to creating the next

Sioga yoga

Yoga and Meditation Teacher

2022-Current

Yoga meditation teacher at a popular outdoor centre in Galway. Writing classes and curating each class to a specific group of people each week. As a teacher it is important for me to anticipate the needs of my students, and to provide solutions to any issues they may have.

Each week i focus on a particular area, chosen to suit my group of regular students.

Martial arts instructor to a group of students. Each week i write and plan my class, it is aimed at total beginners and all levels of fitness. My role requires effective communication as concepts can be difficult for new students to grasp at first. Jiu jitsu is often described as being similar to chess in that it is tactical and about problem solving. It is as much a mental sport as it is physical.

In this role i was responsible for keeping the children in our care safe and entertained. My role involved a lot of creative thinking,, making games, and art projects. Each day i would draw a coloring challenge for the children and create crafts projects for them. I also taught them how to do their own drawing and explore their creativity, Summer hours i ran creativity camps, which involved engaging them in mny different creative roles, arts, crafts, dance and performance

In this role i performed all managerial responsibilities. I was also the first person to get my branch a social media presence, creating campaigns and weekly advertisements based off client observation and feedback.

For this design i spoke with teachers and also with students to understand what they would like to have as murals. I provided the teachers with sketches and color schemes and then got o work creating the murals..

I was asked to design an emblem for the ladies BJJ team, which would be used online and would also be printed on to patches and clothing. After discussing the clients needs and deciding on a creative direction i began with physical sketches, which i then vectorized and sent to the company we would print with.

Input for the design was given from the head coaches and students. This was my first experience of making physical sketches digital and also of dealing with the print company and requirements. It was a huge learning experience with the final result being very well received. .

BBelvia Wellness Spa Logo design.

The brief here was to design a logo suitable for a Spa and wellness centre.

I began by researching other spas to get an idea of current trends in the industry. From there i started with sketch work and created a few options of creative directions. I also researched into color psychology so that my color scheme would be business apprropriate and would also have the correct psychological influence from a marketing and branding perspective. Various shades of green were chosen for their representation, the light sage for the calming and zen ambiance it creates, also because it is a popular choice amongst brands of a similar ethos/representation.

The more verdant green was chosen as its symbology links back to health, growth and luxury.

Once the designs were in their final stages, i submitted them for feedback and used this to choose my final stylistic choices.

Wellness Spa B

Our brief for this logo was to design a logo for a healthcare company. We were given free creative reign with the type of health company for this imaginary customer. I chose to go in the direction of a Healthfood/ Supplement store.

By starting the process with researching similar styles of companies, i was able to see emerging trends and also the role and choice of colors based off target audience and color psychology.

My stylistic choices were influenced by decisions to create an earthy and health focused company and to keep the formatting cute and simple.

BBook Cover Design

Our brief here was to create a book over with the title of Dreams.

We were given full creative reign as regards the type of book we would choose. I chose to design a cover for a book about the psychology of dreams and exploration of the mind. I decided to go with clouds to create the softness and airy quality of a dreamy headspace. The girl featured brings in an elemant of Alice in Wonderland, which represents the topsy turvy nonsensical nature of dreams.

A stopwatch is symbolic of our internal circadian rhythms and body clocks, it also ties into the Alice in Wonderland theme. My chosen color scheme creates contrast between the soft fluffy looking blues of the cloud and the deep darker blues of the water.

MMake a movie poster in a Minimalist style, using only two colours. This was our challenge for this photoshop assignment. I chose the Matrix as a fan of the movie and also as it lent itself to the limiting colour scheme nicely.

We were asked to design a perfume advert for a perfume of our choice. I began the process by choosing the perfume i would design for and then researching the brand. I looked at previous campaigns by the brand and at other products for cues to the brands preferences of style and color. For Black Opium i chose high contrast colours, with a rocker vibe. This style is in line with other shoots i have seen from Yves Saint Laurent.

TEAM JERSEY DESIGN

Point Blank Ladies Brazilian Jiu Jitsu team were celebrating 2 year anniversary. They asked for a design which would be used for; patches, logo and the ladies jersey. Having discussed with them the design elements and color scheme i drew the designs by hand and then vectorized them.
