Here is a great Hot Topic that we have all been hearing about "Quiet Quitting"! Read more about it below or click the YouTube link to view the segment.
" Quiet Quitting" - Not a great strategyMy friend and former associate, Elise Freedman of Korn Ferry was featured in a MSNBC news segment last month discussing this topic. The segment features several experts from the consulting world and Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank - Kevin O'Leary. According to this piece, "Quiet Quitting" has been coming for years - it simply got the viral name on TikTok more recently.
There was a phenomenon that began in China called "laying down". It was a reaction to the relentless work culture that had been so prevalent across the country. The pandemic also triggered a realization of the fact that life is short and forced us to rethink the concept of "dream jobs".
"Quiet quitting" has also been considered a rejection of the "Hustle Culture" with more being pulled to a "mission driven" role or business. Disengagement is also a big factor. Based on results from Gallup, we are seeing the most substantial dip in employee engagement in 10 years. Those who "Quiet Quit" are probably at a disadvantage once the labor market slows and opportunities change.

Questions? Or know someone who might be interested?
Do you ever get stuck not knowing what to say?
Do you feel "less than" in a meeting when someone dismisses you?
Are you less than comfortable stating your opinion or point of view?
Have you ever been told you are being "too emotional"?
Are you the most qualified in the topic of the conversation, but are constantly ignored?
Do you want to be prepared for responding in difficult situations rather than freezing or withdrawing?
If you said "yes" to any of the questions above, I've been where you are! I used to move into "fight or flight" mode when I didn't know what to say or do next. I spent my entire career (and I've had a few!) getting to the point where I know what to say to express myself and walk away feeling heard and respected. Here's the formula I've developed and have been using very successfully with my female clients. They constantly reach out to me BEFORE any significant event or meeting to "walk through" this approach - and it works every time! Here it is in a nutshell - POWER:
P - Point of View - Make sure you have one and learn to express it clearly
O - Own it Don't allow others to sway you from your commitment
W - Will - Summon the will to deliver the messages you wish to get across
Energy Bring the right energy into the interaction stay in the moment
R - Resilience Keep practicing and building your communication toolkit
I have a new LinkedIn group called "Power Talk for Women Leaders" that was formed to meet this need for some of my clients and followers.

Some of us have great ideas and follow-through and some of us don't. We all have the desire to run our own businesses or advance in our professional careers, but often get "off track" because we either find it hard to focus OR could use some additional support. Could that be you?
Consider finding an accountability partner or accountability group to help you on your journey to success. Easy to say, but maybe not as easy to do? Here are some tips for finding the right partner(s) or creating the right accountability situation:
The person or group you choose must be impartial and willing to tell you the truth. You want the person or group to participate in the interaction with empathy and compassion, rather than harsh judgment. Finding other like-minded women can help you feel less alone in your pursuit of success.
If you don't feel motivated or focused after your meeting or interaction, your person or group may not be a good fit for you. Select someone with experience that can help guide you through the issues you are facing. Someone with a solid business background, even if not in your industry or specialty, can often help you navigate the issues that are part of any business scenario.
Make sure you can reach out to the person or the group when you need them the most. Their availability will be an important factor to consider.
I have a new group called "The Accountability Gang" that was formed to meet this need for some of my clients and followers.

I don't know about you, but I have a terrible time with FOCUS! I have a parade of great ideas and sudden priorities that keep me from being as productive as I could be.
I really like the tips in Fast Focus! I knew many of them already, but they were a great reminder. Some of the others were great in helping me rethink why I have so much trouble staying focused.
I hope this book helps you as well...
