Hot Topics
Here is a timely hot topic I am using with my clients. See if this resonates with youwhether you are a current CEO, report to one, or aspire to become one...

Qualities of CEO Communication: Communication as a CEO is more critical than ever. I had this article in my archives from Stacey Hanke - a Forbes Councils Member. Here are the 5 elements of CEO communication she highlights:
BREVITY Successful CEOs understand the importance of clear, concise communication. They recognize that in the absence of simplicity comes confusion and chaos.
COLLABORATION - Top-performing CEOs understand that if their organization is to reach the level of Fortune 500 companies, they must get their entire organization to think the same way.
APPROACHABILITY - Title alone can discourage employees from approaching leadership to converse on matters that are critical to ongoing company operations.
TRANSPARENCY - Few things cost an executive trust and influence like a lack of transparency. When employees believe their CEO is hiding information or failing to act openly, they begin to question decisions.
TRANSFORMATIVE Successful CEOs aren’t born great -- they learn through a series of mistakes and lessons and from mentors and opportunities. Influential CEOs recognize that personal development is the key to continued professional success.
Stacey Hanke is author of the book "Influence Redefined… Be the Leader You Were Meant to Be, Monday to Monday®."

Speaking with Authority and Clarity
Do you ever have trouble with others listening to you? Or perhaps having them understand what you say and/or what you want? This is an issue for so many women, so perhaps it is for you as well.
Here are some ideas to help you speak with more authority and clarity:

Focus on the essence of your point. Avoid the desire to elaborate unnecessarily. It could cause you to lose members of the audience.
Avoid the need to fill in for awkward silence. Allow the silence to happen for a bit before you jump in to break it (if no one else does).
Work on delivering your message or point of view with confidence (even if you might not be totally feeling it). This helps build trust and therefore enhances the perception of your authority.
Tell a story if it provides the context of your point, but only offer it after making your point if you think it can offer more clarity.
If you are representing other members of a group - perhaps as their spokesperson on a topic - it can be quite powerful to state that fact in your summary.
Use what I call "an economy of words" to make your case. Members of the audience can ask questions if they need more detail
I have a new LinkedIn group called "Power Talk for Women Leaders" that is designed to offer tops and techniques for speaking up more powerfully.

Executive Coaching Topic:
Managing Performance Starts at the Top
Managing performance is solely not just a process of conducting the annual or semi-annual review with employees. Managing performance is an ongoing process of asking questions, checking in, delivering feedback (both positive and constructive), and continually offering support.
How do you do this within a hybrid work environment or with a workforce with evolving expectations?
Set clear expectations and ensure they are communicated individually and across the board to all impacted employees
Create an avenue to have regular group check-ins - either in person or by phone (or video call) to have employees report on status of projects/initiatives
Schedule one-on-one meetings with your individual team membersthose that report directly to you - and encourage anyone else in leadership to do the same Keep your communication clear and organized - and be sure to leave time for questions. Your answers provide an additional level of clarity Stay focused on what your employees need to know. Don't confuse them with other details that may distract them from focusing on results
