"HOW TO MAKE YOUR TIME MORE VALUABLE" - Success Magazine - Time is limited, so you can get creative when trying to grow your business. It doesn't mean you have to hire more people. Think "leverage"!

How do you leverage your time to expand your reach? Think virtual or live events, podcasts, videos, delivering helpful tools or examples of your work that leave your clients wanting more.

"ONBOARDING NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE DIFFERENTLY" - Client Discussion Today, onboarding plays a key role both in employee engagement and speed of indoctrination into the company culture. It is no longer a day or a week of "getting situated and meeting the players" at the company. It needs to be a structured ongoing process to introduce and reinforce the culture, set and communicate expectations, and provide feedback.

"I DON'T THINK I NEED COACHING, BUT..." Recurring Client Theme Clients don't realize that coaching takes many forms. I may have a set "process", but the way I deploy it is totally dependent on my clients' biggest needs. I keep them focused on the items that return the highest value on the investment of their time and resources. AND, we focus a heavily on accountability to keep them on track!

There is a powerful Executive within you!

You exhibit these superpowers every day as a woman balancing a ton of priorities.

You have great skills, a lot of experience, and a strong sense of intuition about everything.

So how do you use these qualities to help uncover and own that Executive within you? Much of it relates to self-confidence and the ability to step into a role in which you may not feel comfortable.

Some of us have mentors who help us cultivate the executive behaviors over time, but those mentors may be few and far between. What if you work for yourself? Who can those mentors be?

I have been lucky enough to have both personal and professional mentors in my professional executive career. When I first became a business owner, I had to find a community of like-minded business owners to help me navigate this new territory.

When you own your own business, you need to develop a different executive presence. You are the "face" of your business and you not only need to perform for your clients/customers, but you also need to step into your genius and confidence to sell your abilities and products/services.

Here are some ways you can not only find, but also develop, that powerful executive within you: 1. Assess your skills, abilities, and expertise to help identify what makes you special. Allow that to sink in and give you a higher level of confidence.

2. Commit to asking for what you want and speaking up. Become more assertive in your speech and presentation of ideas and requests.

Practice your "no apology" mindset.

3. Communicate expectations clearly and with your own required outcomes in mind. Don't feel guilty about following up to get the outcome you need.

4. Prepare for important meetings by listing what you wish to say or ask and use that list to ensure you get what you need out of the interaction.

5. Illustrate that you are a person of action. Pick your head up from the day to day and make sure that you are following up or getting status on important items - both from internal and external parties.

6. Speak up! Show up! Own your Genius! Ask for what you Want!

OWN YOUR GENIUS AND ALLOW OTHERS TO EXPERIENCE IT

Executive Coaching Topic HOW TO RUN YOUR BUSINESS LIKE A "BOSS" Running a business can be extremely gratifying, but it comes with a lot of risk and challenges. Some people are natural business people and move into the boss role with ease. Others struggle even if they have managed others before. When you work for someone else, there is a predictable structure in place. When you become your own boss, that structure is gone!

It can be critical to have not only the right help, but also the correct structure in place.

Structure can offer both you and your employees the ability to focus on priorities and the items that can most impact your bottom line. Structure can take many forms: 1. Manage your time and your calendar - Time management and prioritization of key priorities can ensure that you and your team are using your time wisely.

2. Keep up with technology and processes - Ensure you have the right tools to get the job done and keep your processes up to date. You will learn a lot as you execute your work, so you will have "live" feedback to use in editing your processes and procedures.

3. Set clear expectations and communicate them - If you want to rise above running the day-to-day in your business, you will have to rely on others to get things done.

Let them know what you expect and allow others to carry some of the load.

4. You can be an empathetic leader without being a best friend - Your employees need boundaries and so do you! You want an open door for communication but you don't have to take on a relationship that robs either of you of your autonomy.

5. Leave no question that you are in charge - Be visible in communicating - in all forms and be assertive when you need to get your message across. Share the outcomes you expect and why they are important.

6. Lift others up - Practice highlighting successes, big or small. Mention the work of others in relation to success you enjoy. Be inclusive in your hiring, assignments, and promotions. Ensure you are paying attention to the least vocal individuals on your team and find ways to include them in a way that helps them engage more fully.

There are so many ways you can become a better boss. We all have room to continually improve our leadership skills. You can think about the following as a good rule-ofthumb:

Aspire to be a better boss than the best boss you ever had in your career.

Book Recommendation THE FIVE WEEK LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE I tend to be a fan of any book that is associated with Stephen Covey. Below is one by Patrick R. Leddin with a forward by Covey. It is filled with bite-sized interactive discussions and exercises that you can really use.

It is a great design for busy leaders, but can provide both important insights with the time to digest each concept between sections.

Leadership skills will be the most important element of success in business in a post-pandemic world. There is always room for us to improve our leadership.
