Celebrate your Accomplishments!
As 2022 draws to a close, I know I am feeling a bit disappointed in what I was NOT able to get accomplished. Maybe you are as well...
I decided to reframe this tough topic and this is the way I found the joy and the silver lining:
I looked at my goals for 2022 and even though I did not get them all completed, I did complete some of the most important ones!
I also decided to frame some of my incomplete goals as "foundational items". I use this term all the time with my clients. These are the items that prepare you, i.e. lay the foundation, for doing big things in the future. I bet if you looked at your activities for 2022, you knocked out some significant "foundational items"!
I took some time to think of the relationships I nurtured during 2022 as well. I found real joy in connecting with family and friends. I made some new friends in 2022 as well. I am grateful for each and every one of these relationships. Whenever I need something they are always there to lend an ear or offer a shoulder.
I was able to impact more women this year than certainly in 2020 or 2021. I had several lovely speaking engagements during the year. I was able to get that immediate connection with those in the audience, and have committed to continue to share these messages of women's empowerment.
I have a new LinkedIn group called "Power Talk for Women Leaders" that is designed to offer tops and techniques for speaking up more powerfully.

Executive Coaching Topic: Finding Joy in the Midst of Holiday Stress
What's more important - perfection or showing up?
I vote "showing up" - every time!
Finding the joy in the midst of holiday stress may seem impossible, but the enduring gifts you give others involve spending quality time with them. You can do this either in-person or simply by being available and present.
What can you let go of - something that isn't fun or appreciated as much as you just showing up? What exemplifies "perfection" - and is something that you work hard at producing, yet you are never satisfied with it? That's a signal that you are trying to hard. When do you notice that your energy shifts to stress rather than joy? Pay attention and work to shift it back. I tend to look up from my computer or phone and listen for a bird singing or look up at the trees. Doesn't sound like much, but the shift is noticeable.
What are some things that you can do to find that joy during this holiday season?

2023 is a New Start
I like to find joy where I can. So, instead of beating myself up for what didn't go well in 2022, I can work to define 2023 as an opportunity for a new start.

I have decided to look at 2023 asa fresh opportunity to be and do what I want. I need to live more for "me". With that goal of living more for "me" - I need to stop allowing the needs of others to always be prioritized above my own. I can always make time for them, so what if I shaved off a little of that time and put it in the "me" vault?
I also want to expand my network professionally and make some new friends in a new location. I spend time in a couple of different places, so it would be lovely to have a great set of friends in both places.
I want to learn some new things - cooking a different type of cuisine (since I haven't even mastered a single one - but that's another story!). I am experimenting with more clean eating and whole foods because I know that I can learn to prepare them in a way that will have me craving more of them. I want to hear more live music. When I have a chance, it always makes me happy to hear and move to live music. There are plenty of opportunities - I need to commit to researching and planning on this one.
I am committing to saying "no" to the things that aren't a "hell yes"! Now that's powerful.
